Five weeks to lose one stone, anyone want to join me?

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 10:13

That's it really! Have had to start on tablets for high BP, I have underactive thyroid - taking Thyroxine and also have PCOS.
I am 40 in a few months.
I know it's harder for me to lose weight with the above conditions but surely it's not impossible. I've been doing SW for 6 months and lost 12 lb but have put 4 lb back on over Easter. Not possible to go to SW at the moment due to work/uni commitments and DH long working hours.
My plan is to lose one stone in five weeks initially.
Then another stone by my holiday in August.
Thinking of low carb, cutting out sugar and doing more exercise.

So, I weigh in today at....11 st 12.

Does any want to join me, or give any advice to help on low carb, sugar?

I would. But what kind of things do you like? Be wary of buying stuff unless you chat to someone who's done it. Also read reviews of the products that you like the look of. Me? I'm a chocoholic. I jokingly refer to Exante as my chocolate diet. I like the double chocolate bars and the peanut butter bars. I also like the pit meals (chilli beef / Dahl ) as its so easy: add water. My friend likes the gooey Choc pudding and the vanilla cupcakes. I also like the pancakes. I make small ones with the mixture so that they last longer. I freeze my bars and then cut them into little pieces when I'm ready to eat them. Yum!

BrandNewAndImproved · 18/04/2016 17:25

Sorry clutter it's my downfall everyday. But whenever I stop eating the pudding I drop 2 to 3 lb that week and stop wanting it. Whenever I have a 'treat' on a weekend I then crave the sugary puddings again. Suger really is addictive!

Notsoskinnyminny · 18/04/2016 18:37

8lb off last week but I know a lot of it will be water so after a super-strict week I can't go mad but did succumb to a sausage roll and a mini cupcake at the lunchtime shared table even though I took in a healthy fruit salad.

For those craving chocolate I used to eat 85% dark chocolate when i was low carbing, the one from aldi is great because there's 5 little bars and its so sweet you only need to break a chunk off so a little bar lasts for ages.

TakesTwoToTango · 18/04/2016 19:32

Sugar addiction is my downfall too brand. Managed a 1.5hr walk and a relatively heathy lunch (except the Brie!), but couldn't resist sugar on my porridge and my usual super sugary takeaway coffee this morning. Baby steps. Trying not to lose heart at my lack of will power!

ClutterofStarlings · 18/04/2016 20:54

I feel I have not done too badly today. Not great, but ok. Until I had half a chocolate muffin & custard. Brand, I'm blaming you! Wink
But not a whole muffin & I put less sugar in the custard. And I had had the baby screaming in my ear for an hour.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 18/04/2016 21:10

The children had pizza and i had a slice
But otherwise not too badly today.
SCALES are stuck.
Need to up the ante
BORING>

BrandNewAndImproved · 18/04/2016 21:22

takestwo I love toffee/caramel lattes but instead I've been having a homemade treat coffee once I get home. Only putting a cup of milk into the microwave to heat up and adding a spoonful of coffee (be careful if you do this milk will explode when you add coffee if its to hot) but it feels more treat like then just hot water.

clutter sorry!

Can I join too?

12st 3 at the mo but was 12st 7 so weight is going the right way. I'd like to lose at least 12lb in 6 weeks.

I lost weight last year and got down to 11st but put it all back on.

I'm using MFP and eating 1200 cals a day.

Trying the push myself to the gym more, I use any excuse not to go.

Ideally would like to be 9st 10 by this time next year when I'm a bridesmaid for my SIL.

ShoesAreStupid · 18/04/2016 23:43

im restarting slimming world this week, had lost almost 4 stone but ive managed to put it all back on
Ive bought some fancy trainers and everything!

TakesTwoToTango · 19/04/2016 00:21

Good idea brand maybe I need to make my own. But going to the coffee shop is my but of escapism/me time, donut feels like I lose my r&r time as well as depriving myself of the drink ('tis totally clear that my weight is more of a mind issue than a body issue!)

LizardBreath · 19/04/2016 09:04

Hello, can I join too? I was 10.13 at weekend, normally about 9.10 but I seem to have gone mad this year Confused I'm doing one of those 3 day shake things as a kick start-I'm at 10.10 this morning! I know it's mainly water though! My downfall is chocolate and general snacking. Git into terrible habit of not having a proper breakfast or lunch and just grazing on sweets and chocolate all day

2madboys · 19/04/2016 09:57

Feeling a bit downhearted today - haven't weighed for a month, but up 1/2 lb this morning. Mostly due to the Easter hols I think.

However, onwards and upwards! Need to be more strict with my fast days, cut my cheese consumption drastically, and get properly back into an exercise routine. Cycled to work in the sunshine today though, so that was lovely :-)

coveredinhopeandvaseline · 19/04/2016 10:12

waves
Mind if I join you all...a week late?

I'm 5ft 4", 12st 4lbs, (2 stone of baby weight) DS is 8 months Blush
A stone would make a massive difference to me at the moment, it would get my back into all my lovely size 12 pre-pregnancy clothes.

I've started replacing two meals a day with concoctions made up of kale and fruit in my Nutri Ninja and cutting out wine...hopefully get some of this weight shifted soon!

QuimReaper · 19/04/2016 10:25

I am feeling crabby and short-tempered today.

The sodding fucking arsing boiler is cunting around after 8 million engineers have come and "fixed" it and so I just had to phone to book for ANOTHER visit, and spoke to the RUDEST WOMAN IN CHRISTENDOM who was also a complete lobotomised imbecile.

It's my birthday. Friday night is a big family meal too
Yikes

treaclesoda · 19/04/2016 10:28

I went out for a run last night, and am just back from a run this morning. Has lifted my mood a bit, so should hopefully keep me away from the biscuits...

Guessinggame2016 · 19/04/2016 10:37

HI all
It's been one week - has anyone weighed in today? I was running late and completely forgot! And now I've had a big breakfast - chicken breast, 2 eggs and salad! I know it sounds odd for breakfast but I'm out all day so needed something filling to stop me buying something whilst out.
Anyone weighing in tomorrow with me?

Vaseline we are the same height and near enough the same weight! Grin

QuimReaper · 19/04/2016 20:12

Happy birthday womdering!

treaclesoda · 19/04/2016 22:45

Yesterday and today I was, again, well under my calorie allowance on MFP, which obviously pleases me. But on both days I skipped lunch so that I could have a 'treat' in the evening. I so want to be one of those people who doesn't think like that.

BanburyBun · 19/04/2016 22:59

Hi can I join please! Would like to lose a stone by end of May as we are going away. 11st13lbs this morning (am 5'7")
I've prepped salads (after seeing salad in a jar online!) for the week as am usually starving when I get home at lunchtime and just grab toast. I've also picked out some SW evening meals from the latest magazine. Late afternoon is worst time for me and eating biscuits/chocolate to combat work stress...

TakesTwoToTango · 20/04/2016 00:07

Happy birthday womdering!

Better day for me today (so far!): only a few crisps, everything else relatively healthy and I managed to resist my sugary latte! Also did a 40 min jog/walk so am really hoping to see the scales start to shift. Just need not to fall into the post-kids bedtime snack trap!

Good luck to everyone weighing tomorrow. I'm going to weigh on a Saturday.

Guessinggame2016 · 20/04/2016 09:07

Week One weigh in - 11 St 10
Loss of 2 lb so not quite on track but it's a start!
