Five weeks to lose one stone, anyone want to join me?

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 10:13

That's it really! Have had to start on tablets for high BP, I have underactive thyroid - taking Thyroxine and also have PCOS.
I am 40 in a few months.
I know it's harder for me to lose weight with the above conditions but surely it's not impossible. I've been doing SW for 6 months and lost 12 lb but have put 4 lb back on over Easter. Not possible to go to SW at the moment due to work/uni commitments and DH long working hours.
My plan is to lose one stone in five weeks initially.
Then another stone by my holiday in August.
Thinking of low carb, cutting out sugar and doing more exercise.

So, I weigh in today at....11 st 12.

Does any want to join me, or give any advice to help on low carb, sugar?

Oh blimey, notso, I'm glad you're doing ok. As of today, I also have 4 pounds to go. V chuffed. Had egg, oil free chips and mushy peas to celebrate. Stuffed for 360 cals.

I'm back in clothes from last year which is v welcome. I'm chucking out some of my 14s. I don't want to need them again now.

I could also now do with some off my boobs and the bit where bum meets leg. Grin

BrandNewAndImproved · 13/05/2016 23:39

I love the dippy bits notso.

My exercise is still going on, my hip bones are showing through even when I'm not led in the bath, my collar bones are more sticky outy but my weights the same as I'm annoyingly on my period. It always goes up or keeps me the same weight that time of the month.

Notsoskinnyminny · 14/05/2016 14:03

whirly if I could take 2" off each boob and add it to my legs I'd be a decent height, instead I'm a gravity-defying midget - its a wonder my boobs don't make me topple over Grin

I never think to have egg and chips when I want something good but tasty. My new fave is sweet potato cajun chips - cooked the same way as your chips but I sprinkle with spice before spraying with frylight, they'd be delicious with some garlic dip but I'm trying to stay off dairy.

whirlygirly · 15/05/2016 21:13

Yum, going to try the Cajun sweet potato fries tomorrow. Smile

I ate crisps and dip last night due to a Eurovision get together thing and as a result I'm like a bloated whale today. Salt is definitely my enemy - 4lbs on overnight. I need to do my hot water and fruit drink detox tomorrow to sort it out.

In breaking news - I can get my Zara trousers on again. (Well I could until last night) this is a result as I now have more workwear choice and getting anything from Zara over my hips is not to be sniffed at.

Aiming for 157 this week.

I've just used my brand new juicer for the first time! My dinner was half an avocado, half a courgette, a handful of kale and two apples.

...And it was really quite disgusting Grin

Not bad for a first attempt though, need to up the water content and add more ice next time! The plus side is I didn't miss my dinner, as I still feel a bit like throwing up...

BrandNewAndImproved · 17/05/2016 06:36

Quim carrots are really nice juiced, add beetroot (the ones in the plastic packets in the salad bit) spinach for the Green and then a fruit like orange or pineapple. Avocados and melons are disgusting in juices.

QuimReaper · 17/05/2016 10:13

So it turns out it's not a jucier Blush It's a "Nutrient Extractor Blender", like a Nutribullet (but not). So a smoothie maker really.

I still love it though! And since I'm doing it as a healthy diet and not a "detox", surely it's no bad thing to have all the "stuff" from the fruit / veggies, not just the extracted bits?

QuimReaper · 17/05/2016 20:33

Rather good food day today - delicious smoothie this morning (banana, berries, oats and soya milk - much nicer Grin ), veggie soup for lunch and haddock fillet on a pile of veg for dinner. Tossed the veg in a sauce of butter, crème fraîche, wine and garlic, and had a smidge of Parmesan on, but decided that was OK after a vegan day.

At a conference tomorrow and will have to contend with dodging biscuits, sandwiches and a wine reception. I'm going to have a smoothie in the morning and take a green juice of some kind in to sip on, but any ideas for a virtuous lunch I can sneak off and consume? I hate munching salad out of a Tupperware, it gets everywhere...

QuimReaper · 19/05/2016 09:56

Oh dear, it all went horribly wrong Sad

I was amazing all day - smoothie for breakfast, two hard-boiled eggs and an avocado for lunch, avoided the biscuits, and at the end I even put my coat on to leave before they cracked open the wine...

...But then someone came up and started talking to me and before I knew it the coat was off and I had a glass of wine in hand. And then when I got home I saw some more wine and thought "oh, go on then". And then I was making DP some pittas, and I usually make him three halves so I allow myself the remaining half dunked in hummus; but when I opened the fridge I saw the leftover slow-cooked beef from Sunday, which obviously was going to go off if I didn't stuff the entire lot into the pitta; and since it had all gone to shit by then, I had some blue cheese with it. AND THEN I accidentally tore one of the pittas so I ate that too, with hummus.

Good grief, my lack of self-control. I had a miniscule dinner of a salmon fillet on a pile of veg, but that's damage limitation more than anything.

I know this is more or less my own personal confessional thread these days but just wanted to share Grin

Guessinggame2016 · 19/05/2016 10:06

hi, well done to you all!
I'm still exactly the same weight :(

Thinking of trying the Exante diet?

Quim that's so funny Grin and I had been feeling bad about being on here whilst making no dedicated effort to lose a stone in five, I just think it would be nice.
I am no thinner, but at least no fatter than at the start (scales still out, this may not be true).
I am going to restart, with a plan for Monday to Friday in one week's time, as then husband will be back to work.
Any ideas how one does exercise with a baby? I was thinking the plan may involve 30 day shred somewhere along the line, but baby v poor napper. At least, naps, but only on me.

Notsoskinnyminny · 21/05/2016 18:46

Quim you're a star and a girl after my own heart - I wish I didn't have the fckit attitude but once I've fell off the wagon I have* to eat everything in sight - even if I'm not hungry. I'd bought DH some double deckers for when I'm away and fancied one after an off-wagon evening, so there I was stuffing it down my gob at 11pm, just before I brushed my teeth for bed and now there's only 1 left so I'll take it away with me along with the empty multi-pack wrapper - if there's no evidence he won't know - we are bloody stupid!!

By last Monday I'd lost 10lbs but I'm not weighing in this weekend as I've probably put 5 back on - I'm blaming XH as the fallout following his death is driving me to drink but I've got 4 days to eat all the fruit and salad in the fridge before I go away so ....... should we have a sweepstake on how I fare Grin

whirlygirly · 21/05/2016 20:02

Evening all, I've just had a lovely takeaway curry so am currently lounging on the sofa in some elasticated waist trousers Blush
Other then that, I'm now 11lbs down so the end goal is in sight! It's taking fecking ages though.

When I lost weight when ds was a baby, I basically pushed him for miles in his
Buggy (we live in a rural, hilly area) and did a workout dvd any chance I got when he napped. Plus a Pilates class a week. 9 months after giving birth I was 17 lbs less than I am now.. Grr.

whirlygirly · 21/05/2016 20:02

Quim, that houmous, blue cheese and pitta combo sounds delicious..

ClutterofStarlings · 22/05/2016 09:50

Thanks whirly it is doable then. It occurs to me actually, husband will be taking the car, so I will have to walk anywhere I want to go. Wibble. (And wobble, have had takeaway two nights in a row.)

whirlygirly · 24/05/2016 21:18

Oh I am proper hungry today. Insatiably so. Trying to distract myself until bedtime and not think about the flapjack bites in the kitchen Sad

ClutterofStarlings · 30/05/2016 14:35

Okay, I'm back in the game! From today. Going to start 5:2. After four takeaways last week.

ClutterofStarlings · 01/06/2016 10:51

Ha. New scales say that I am half a stone lighter than I thought. However maternity shorts which were comfy when pregnant are now tight, so taking that with a pinch of salt.
First day was not too bad, am doing slightly more than 500 cal partly just because of the food I have in. Trying to keep busy to distract from rumbling tummy! So house is getting cleaner.

whirlygirly · 01/06/2016 22:48

Ooh, the thread is alive Smile where Is everyone else?

I have a pesky stubborn 2 lbs to go. Never mind a stone in 5 weeks, it'll be 5 months at this rate..

whirlygirly · 02/06/2016 14:02

Clutter 5:2 is hardcore. I really can't do it, does it get easier with practise?

ClutterofStarlings · 02/06/2016 20:01

Ha, I thought I'd killed it ded. Only two pounds to go tho, that's brill!
5:2 was easier when I was at work. I partly get thru by making meals a bit later than usual. Drink a lot of water & herbal tea and often eat quite a few hard boiled eggs. I eat most in the evening cos I can't bear trying to go to sleep hungry.
I think it can be quite handy for resetting your portion sizes, half my problem is simply that I eat too bloody much, not so much what I eat
Iyswim.
And it's only two days a week.
I'm not sure what to think about the scales now, Husband has also set them back to pounds so I'm reet confused! Might just weigh daily til I get a new picture.

whirlygirly · 02/07/2016 20:54

I'm back, the stone has finally gone. Yay! But bloody hell, it took a long time. And tbh I could still lose another 7lbs so that's my next target.
Absolutely worth it though. I feel so much better Smile

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 00:16

Oh, I thought this thread was dead! Hi all! I'm glad my misadventure with the pitta bread and wine amused you all, ya feckers Grin

I'm 5lbw off my goal weight with almost exactly 3 weeks to go, if people are still hanging around I'll definitely benefit from a hand hold / kick up the bum!

Dolph · 06/07/2016 04:53

Morning ladies,

I would like to offer some personal experience with losing 2 stone @ 1.5 lbs per week.

It is almost impossible to overeat on vegetables and meat.

I would have a huge (I mean massive) bowl of salad with Extra Virgin Olive Oil along side a burger (no bun) or steak or pressure cooked shoulder of lamb or any fish (usually fried) or similar.

I chucked all bread, pasta, sugar and crisps out of the house. I actually found it easier to get myself to think that those were not even foods, saying "That's not food and I physically cannot eat it" when looking at say bread. Similar to what you might think when looking at your car / phone / dining room table. It's not food, I physically cannot eat it. After about 10 days I really did change my perspective.

I did 30 mins exercise per week (push ups and body weight squats) or less.

I did not count calories or think about portion sizes. It is impossible to overeat on veg and meat / fish.

This worked for me and my wife (lost 2 st 7 lbs PP), maybe it can work for you?
