Five weeks to lose one stone, anyone want to join me?

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 10:13

That's it really! Have had to start on tablets for high BP, I have underactive thyroid - taking Thyroxine and also have PCOS.
I am 40 in a few months.
I know it's harder for me to lose weight with the above conditions but surely it's not impossible. I've been doing SW for 6 months and lost 12 lb but have put 4 lb back on over Easter. Not possible to go to SW at the moment due to work/uni commitments and DH long working hours.
My plan is to lose one stone in five weeks initially.
Then another stone by my holiday in August.
Thinking of low carb, cutting out sugar and doing more exercise.

So, I weigh in today at....11 st 12.

Does any want to join me, or give any advice to help on low carb, sugar?

I quite enjoyed my tuna salad lunch and have had a very veggie filled stir fry for tea which was really nice. The guinea pigs loved the random bits off the vegetables...I think they'll like this diet and will be getting fatter as I get thinner.

Now to avoid the evening biscuit cravings...

RufusTheReindeer · 12/04/2016 20:56

And me please

i weighed in on saturday and was 12stone 12lbs

Its a bit of a bad week for me as i am off to london on Friday for a day or two but i will weigh myself next tuesday

I have pcos and an underactive thyroid, i am 46 and having keyhole surgery next thursday on my shoulder so will probably be comfort eating Grin

I'm quite the catch

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 22:42

Quite a few of us then, yay!

Have scrubbed the bathroom, tidied the lounge etc, trying not to think about food!
Am just going to have a cup of tea and go bed.

I'm in, my diet consists of biscuits, coffee and crisps! I'm a stains and a half heavier then when I had my 4 year old and I'd love to shift a stone.
I've developed very bad habits so a kick start might help.

treaclesoda · 13/04/2016 07:23

I made up muesli overnight with yoghurt, as I've heard it's very filling. Anyone got any tips on how to make it without it being a big dense stodgy mess? I ate it anyway, and it tasted OK, but it was a bit of an effort.

Guessinggame2016 · 13/04/2016 09:50

Treacle - I used to do the overnight oats on SW, I layered porridge oats, yogurt and frozen berries but never mixed. Wasn't stodgy and the berries took away any of the stodginess!

Just back from school run, going to do egg on granary bread and then get working. Busy day so need to try to make time to eat properly to stop me picking later!

Can I join in please? Hoping to lose around a stone in time for our hols in July. I lost some before Easter but ate really badly over the holidays (I work term time only), so trying to get back onto it this week. I've cut out sugar (main treat will be the occasional Nakd bar) and trying to go fairly low carb, although I eat porridge for breakfast to try and get my cholesterol down a bit. I'm also doing a slightly watered down version of 5:2 (not counting calories, but no breakfast, apple and nuts for lunch and very light dinner - had home made soup yesterday). Haven't dared weigh myself since before Easter, so will wait until next Tuesday and join in with the weigh in. I was down to 10st 2 lb but think I've put a bit back on. Would love to be 9st by the hols, but this may be completely unrealistic (not been that weight since before ds1 who is now 15!

My main downfall when I'm not eating sugar is cheese, so I really need to eat less. I buy Baby Bels to get the portion size down, but not really that helpful if I eat lots of them! Really need to work on this!

I've had porridge for breakfast with raspberries and blueberries and whole milk, got parsnip and chorizo soup for lunch (home made), with an apple and some nuts, and home made chilli with not too much brown rice for tea.

I've cycled to work today as weather is lovely (about 4 miles).

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 13/04/2016 11:43

Hmm. had protein shake for breakfast and have a circuits class tonight but have had 4 maybe 5 hobnobs. not a good start.
This is why I have probs with this last 9-12lbs
Will have salad for lunch

Aphie · 13/04/2016 11:47

I think I'm going to join in too. Significantly overweight really. 17st at 5 foot 10. Size 18 clothing. 4 stone in 5 months is my ideal. But a stone before I go on holiday in 5 week would really help. I've had a bowl of cheerios and a yoghurt so far today. Might go meat free for the week see if it makes a difference.

Guessinggame2016 · 13/04/2016 12:17

Hi all, just having a quick break!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm craving sugar at the moment but just drinking water instead for the moment....how long do sugar cravings last? I'm sure I read it's not long.

Welcome to everyone who has joined today :)

Wouldn't it be fantastic to weigh in in five weeks and say we've lost a stone! Going to walk to pick DD up from school later, that's about 2 miles round trip, uphill on the way there so not a great distance but better than going in the car which I usually do!

Lovely sunny day here

Working from home so have had about 19 cups of herbal tea and decaff coffee, not breakfast - trying to do 16:8 for health benefits but also by reducing my "eating window" it stops my evening snacking which is my utter downfall.

(Late) lunch will be spiced roasted cauliflower and chickpeas (did I mention I was working from home) with a bit of shredded spinach. Have a yoga classes 5.30 and meditation class at 7 so will maybe just have a protein shake and celery sticks for supper. And an early night.

PurpleDaisies · 13/04/2016 13:08

I've been to the gym this morning (weights, Zumba and yoga) and am knackered. Really out of practice so I reckon I won't be able to move tomorrow. Yoga is normally a nice gentle stretch after the other classes but today she was on a mission and everyone was swearing.

I met a friend for lunch in Starbucks which was a problem given all the salads had gone. The salt beef bagel looked like the least worst choice so probably all my hard work undone. Cauliflower and random veg curry tonight is the plan.

PurpleDaisies · 13/04/2016 13:09

Swearing?!! I meant sweating. I did feel a bit like swearing at points.

BabyBuzz · 13/04/2016 13:21

Can I join too please?
I need to lose a stone in 4-5 weeks.
I'm 5ft 6 and weigh 9st 4lb. So far today, I had a bowl of porridge and one slice of buttered wholemeal toast. I did a 26 minute toning exercise plan off YouTube yesterday, feeling sore today but hoping to do it again later.

PurpleDaisies · 13/04/2016 13:31

Are you sure you need to lose a stone baby? Your BMI would only be 18 if you were 8st4.

TaurielTest · 13/04/2016 15:34

Unexpectedly went out for lunch so my healthsome vegetable soup sits sadly in the fridge. I did have a salad (with my brie and bacon panini... hmmm). Healthy dinner tonight.

Guessinggame2016 · 13/04/2016 15:41

After a healthy breakfast and lunch I just ate 2 choc biscuits.

Did do an hour fast walk, so that will have burned off a quarter of a biscuit Hmm

Yes baby, that does seem a low weight for your height but I appreciate we all carry it differently.

JamieVardysParty · 13/04/2016 15:55

I'm keen to join but may slack a little with food this week due to a stressful deadline - may mean resorting to more than a little chocolate.

I ultimately want to lose about 10 kgs and keep it off by September/October - old friends are getting married, not seen friends in a long long time and ex boyfriend will be there with his new girlfriend who apparently is super super skinny.

A stone, or even half, between now and mid May (DH's birthday) would be a great boost.

Currently 5'9 and about 75kg (about 11 8). Going to aim for 70kg (11st) by mid May with my ultimate goal of about 64kg (10st).

Hitting the gym tonight and have fake Nandos for when we get back.

Next week the plan is to start properly low carbing, Shredding and gym.

magicsoakingmyspine · 13/04/2016 16:06

I had a bean burger with roast pots, peas and flapjack from the canteen at work and just been for a run. But do plan to go out for dinner later, determined to go for a healthy option and stay away from the desert menu!

ClutterofStarlings · 13/04/2016 16:32

I would like to join please? I'm convinced our scales aren't quite right (no really Grin ) but I think I need to lose about three stone since baby born 12 weeks ago. Was EMCS and am frightened of doing exercise except the two miles or so I walk (nearly) daily. I know I need to get over that because my back's sore and my knees hurt.
Complicated by husband at home all the time so I feel very observed. But I think signing up to something can't hurt, even if I only lose a bit, not a whole stone.

SunshineBee · 13/04/2016 18:06

What day does everyone usually weigh (if you do it weekly?). It's Friday for me. I've only been properly back on my diet since Monday though so will be 5 days when I get weighed.

I am really terrible at eating properly through the day but I don't know what I can eat. I need something super quick as I'm really busy as a SAHM to a toddler and I also work from home too. I usually have a coffee in the morning (I struggle to eat early and we are usually rushing out the door to get to play group), eat a banana and a yoghurt around lunch time then some weetabix or muesli a bit later on. Can anyone think of anything else I can eat instead? I end up getting hungry around 4ish and me and DP don't eat tea until late. I don't eat bread to sarnies etc are out of the question. I'm not a fan of salads either Confused

ClutterofStarlings · 13/04/2016 18:44

Boiled eggs out of the fridge? These are my go to diet food as they keep me full for ages & can be preprepared. Bit stinky tho.

HanYOLO · 13/04/2016 19:00

Sunshine: soup (homemade) v filling and a good lunch - cook in batches and freeze - take it out of the freezer before you go out in the morning to eat at lunchtime. carrot sticks and celery with hummus or nut butter also good.

HanYOLO · 13/04/2016 19:01

Jamie - I'm glad we are not the only household who has fake Nandos.

SunshineBee · 13/04/2016 19:15

I have gone off eggs massively recently. No idea what's wrong with me!

Soup is a good one. I do make soup often for dinners so can make extra and freeze. Thank you.
