Five weeks to lose one stone, anyone want to join me?

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 10:13

That's it really! Have had to start on tablets for high BP, I have underactive thyroid - taking Thyroxine and also have PCOS.
I am 40 in a few months.
I know it's harder for me to lose weight with the above conditions but surely it's not impossible. I've been doing SW for 6 months and lost 12 lb but have put 4 lb back on over Easter. Not possible to go to SW at the moment due to work/uni commitments and DH long working hours.
My plan is to lose one stone in five weeks initially.
Then another stone by my holiday in August.
Thinking of low carb, cutting out sugar and doing more exercise.

So, I weigh in today at....11 st 12.

Does any want to join me, or give any advice to help on low carb, sugar?

I've been using MyFitnessPal and have managed to stay well under my calorie allowance for three days (by a combination of careful eating and plenty of exercise). Should be OK tomorrow too, but I know that I won't be so disciplined at the weekend.

JuniorMint · 13/04/2016 23:19

Hi,
I've just been reading this thread and would like to follow along! I'm 5'5" and currently 10st 8lbs. Would love to lose a stone.
I'm doing low carb and am also a vegetarian!

Rarotonga · 13/04/2016 23:26

Hi there
Can I join please? I am planning to ditch the sugar!

2madboys · 14/04/2016 10:37

Day four without sugar - sleeping really well and a small patch of eczema which developed near my eye over the Easter (chocolate eating) hols has nearly gone! Anyone who is wondering about giving up sugar can be assured that you'll see a difference quite quickly in how you feel.

Fast day today so only had tea so far. Will be having an apple and some nuts at lunchtime and fish with veg for tea.

RattusRattus · 14/04/2016 17:18

Day 5 without sugar here - feeling super sluggish and not with it. Just want to eat and eat and eat. And then go to bed.

Notsoskinnyminny · 14/04/2016 18:46

Day 4 of the James Duncan diet for me. Haven't weighed yet but was 10.7 on Monday and need to lose at least a stone to get into my summer clothes, damn you chunky jumpers and leggings for not telling me I was piling on the lbs Grin

Fortunatepiggy · 14/04/2016 19:00

I'd like to join please

I've just started slimming world ( although doing it at home as hassle to get to class). Lost about a stone a couple of years ago doing it but had my wedding as an incentive! Since having my son have piled on the weight and am now 11 6 and 5. 5 which makes me feel frumpy and uncomfortable.

Would like to lose a stone and a half to get to my wedding weight

ClutterofStarlings · 14/04/2016 21:20

Okay. Today has gone v badly as dh hungover so has bought all the food. Which I then ate. To'orrow will be better. Probably. I really need to cut the sugar right down, I'm sure that's partly why my joints are sore.

SunshineBee · 15/04/2016 16:34

I've weighed in this morning as normal, even though I've only been back using MFP since Monday and I've lost 3lb!! That's probably the biggest loss I've had in a very long time. Only another 3lb until I'm down to the 11st range, and I'm the lightest I've ever been in my adult life. I wasn't expecting a loss at all as I woke up really bloated so I'm very pleased Grin

RattusRattus · 15/04/2016 17:35

Well done Sunshine Grin. Day 6 no sugar for me today and I'm bored today. Stuck inside raining with not much to do except spring clean the whole bloody house mooch around looking at crap online. Can't stop thinking about sugar today.

SunshineBee · 15/04/2016 17:41

Thanks Skip. I spent this afternoon cleaning instead of eating!

georgiatraher · 15/04/2016 17:43

I'm in! Stopped snacking at work TODAY.
We can do it.

treaclesoda · 15/04/2016 18:39

Right. I have been disciplined all week, right up until this afternoon.

But right now I am relaxing with a glass of wine and waiting for my husband to bring takeaway on his way home.

Hopefully I won't undo too much of my good work, because I've been using MFP all week and was very significantly under my calorie allowance on three of the days. So I'm thinking I can relax this evening without doing too much damage.

UmbongoUnchained · 15/04/2016 18:43

I'm 5ft and actually don't know how much I weigh but am feeling a bit podgy.

Today I had rice and salmon for breakfast, grilled tofu and maki rolls for lunch and a big unagi donburi for dinner (eel with rice) with a side of veg.

SunshineBee · 15/04/2016 21:12

Umbongo your food sounds so good!

UmbongoUnchained · 15/04/2016 21:17

Thankyou Smile

whirlygirly · 15/04/2016 21:28

Hello, I'd love to join as I have just about a stone to lose. I've been doing my fitness pal for 2 weeks and am 4lbs down so far, so. 11st 10 and at 5ft 7, look fine at 10st 10.
Got a holiday as an incentive. Smile
What really annoys me is this is the same stone I've gained and lost countless times. I just lose interest once it gets to maintenance and it slowly creeps back. I'm thinking if I go slow and steady this time, it might be more long term.

RattusRattus · 16/04/2016 11:37

Hi there,
Today I'm planning on a good 2 hour dog walk, plus some arm exercises to tone. We are going out for tapas tonight so I'm not sure how I will navigate my way through that but actually I reckon it will be OK.

I weighed myself today (I generally do a Saturday weigh in for some reason) and I've lost two pounds which is fab. I'm back at work this week which is where the biscuits are and so I am going to have to focus myself a bit. I'm not going to have any alcohol for a week and I'm going to be really looking at what I'm eating and considering ways to make it better and more healthy.

Notsoskinnyminny · 16/04/2016 18:25

6lbs off so far this week. No wine last night was hard but I'm 'in the zone' as my hairdresser says. I've got 5 weeks until I go away and it wasn't a pretty sight when I had a try on session earlier today so I'm staying in the zone as she looks fantastic after losing over 3 stones.

Guessinggame2016 · 17/04/2016 10:15

Wow, well done with all the weight losses already!
I failed miserably with giving up sugar. Second day and my head was banging and my son offered me a Cadbury's cream egg and then I had a snicker... Absolutely mad with myself for having zero willpower.
I haven't lost a thing so far :(
Went shopping last night and bought lots of healthy things, low carb, low sugar, to snack on and a couple of SW meals to keep in freezer for when I'm really busy.
Gosh, this is difficult!

OP posts:
ClutterofStarlings · 17/04/2016 17:35

guessing I'm not doing so well either, I've just eaten a big lump of marzipan as the only sweet thing I could find, apart from the spoonful of jam before that Blush
I think what this thread is reminding me is that I need to make a plan, and probably stop the sugar cold.
Ultimately I think I need to lose four stone, not three, and once I start I can do that, it's the getting going!

Guessinggame2016 · 17/04/2016 18:39

So difficult though isn't it clutter, even with all the best intentions. I have no willpower with anything though, think I need to work on that. I lack motivation also.

This afternoon I desperately craved chocolate so I had 3 strawberries and a banana with a tiny drizzle of that choc shot which is sugar free and only 14 calories per teaspoon - did the job anyway!
For dinner just I had roast chicken, tiny bit of cheese, pickled egg and loads of salad. Rest of the family are now eating lemon meringue pie so I've come upstairs to hide!!

Am just downloading some music to my phone and then me and DS1 (16) are going to start the coach25k tonight!

Feeling so bloated, sluggish and horrible, really need to do this!

A week late but I'd like to join please. This strikes me as a feel good thread. Grazing and stress sugar fixing at 4pm my downfall. Want to re-establish good habits - < than 5 a day veg and fruit, no eating after 6pm.

Guessinggame2016 · 17/04/2016 20:02

Hi indigo, good luck!
Good eating habits are what I desperately need!

ClutterofStarlings · 17/04/2016 21:13

4pm (and 2pm, 3pm, 5 pm all the pms!) I'm also finding quite hard, somehow mornings are easier to get through without so much snacking. I remembered today that I used to have a big glass of water/cup of tea/herbal tea before I was 'allowed' to snack in the afternoon, so I'm going to try that again. I've discovered some slimmers tea in the cupboard too so will try with that tomorrow.
