MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Same!

JontyDoggle37 · 16/09/2015 09:53

Well I'm back to tracking again today which is good, in not weighing until tomorrow, it's been TOTM here too which hasn't helped. Plus I've now caught Baby sons cold. Maybe it will put me off food....

Emz449 · 16/09/2015 13:49

Well done Imust, you must feel great Smile

Yes it's nearly there, I was 10st 13 this morning which is great, but I don't expect it to stay there for long with tonight and tomorrow, hopefully by next Monday though! I do feel slim but I have done since I was about 12 stone 10ish, I was able to get into size 10 clothes then so I think maybe I weigh more then I look, I'm on a mission to get to a healthy bmi now Smile my original goal was 10 stone 11 but I think I'll change that to 9st 7 just for some leeway. Since being 12 stone 10 and now 10st 13 I am pretty much a size 10 all over and I just feel more confident in my clothes and how I look. When I was between 9 and 8 stone I was told that I was starting to look ill and that I should be putting on weight, but at 5ft 3 that's pretty much the middle of my bmi so can't win!

Well after having a grumble on Monday at only losing 1lb, I weighed this morning and I've lost another 3lb Grin
I'm so happy it's working as I've given up a lot of stuff I love and this is the longest I've managed to stick to it for a long time (could barely manage a whole day before!)
I've not done any exercise yet but think I might start Couch25k again soon.
I'm also getting my evil implant out next Friday so am eager to see if that makes any difference!

JontyDoggle37 · 17/09/2015 08:16

Emz fantastic progress
Moo great loss and if you're anything like me by about 3 months after your implant comes out you will feel like a whole new woman, bloody things should be illegal the side effects are so bad!
I weighed this morning, 11 7.5, so 1lb gain on where I was last Thursday which is annoying but there it s. Back on track now and aiming to lose another pound by Monday.

Purpleknickers · 17/09/2015 10:39

Well done Emz & Moo I had a sneaky weigh in yesterday and the scales were down by just over 1lb but I am saving the full weigh in for the weekend, still feeling determined and checking in on here is helping

MajesticWhine · 17/09/2015 11:14

Well done everyone. I weighed myself this morning, and was down 1lb but I feel it doesn't really count unless it's a monday morning, because the weekends are the hardest for me to stick to the plan and be sensible. Also DH and I are going out for a meal tonight so I need to try and stay away from bad menu choices.

irishe · 17/09/2015 12:25

Hi all
Welcome moochops, join the fun!
Congrats to all those losing, keep the faith to those who are struggling.

Well I have been AWOL for a few days. Had the total grumps on Monday when I weighed in and had put on 1.5lbs. I had been under calories all week and had felt really hungry so the disappointment was a bit crushing. I didn't fall off the wagon but did feel disheartened . Anyway haven't weighed for a few days, weighed in this morning and have lost 3lbs since Monday. So feel pleased with that.

That means I have lost 2 stone 1lb since jan this year and 8lbs since restarting and joining this thread.

majestic I agree it's the Monday weigh ins that count for me. I should really try and limit myself to once a week. It's just too tempting to jump on and off the scales!

JontyDoggle37 · 18/09/2015 08:09

purple, majestic and irishe well done on the losses. I'm a pound down today so back at 11st 6.5, target for September is 11st 3.5, which is still do-able. Husband has been informed I'm on a mission for the next ten days!! I've got one meal out in that time otherwise I can really manage my food well.

MajesticWhine · 18/09/2015 09:26

Well, last night's dinner didn't go so well. I couldn't bring myself to eat like a sparrow with lots of lovely things on the menu. And I'm not even going to try and log it on MFP Grin. No weighing for me. Has anyone else noticed how just one slip up can lead to 1lb gain, but it takes an entire week of near starvation to lose 1lb?

irishe · 18/09/2015 10:17

Good luck with your mission jonty

Yes majestic that is sadly a very familiar experience for me. It happened last week. I had been under cals all week, then ate out on Friday night, was very restrained. Then put on 1.5lbs on my Monday weigh in, was not happy!
However, have just jumped on scales and I have lost 4lbs since Monday.
Which is unbelievable for me really.

The only thing that makes sense to me, is that the scales are now showing 2 weeks worth of weight loss. And that this was interrupted temporarily by the meal out? This is clearly not a scientific explanation, just trying to make some sense of it all!

Hope any gain for you is a temporary blip on the downward trend.

Emz449 · 18/09/2015 19:32

Hi all, i've had a truly terrible few days! Back on the wagon tomorrow, when i weighed myself this morning i was still 10 stone 13 but i've had pizza hut today so may not be that tomorrow! it is all I'm eating so will see how it all goes! I hope everyone has had a good day Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 19/09/2015 08:22

Morning all, scales wavered towards a loss this morning then settled on none, so assuming I'll get it tomorrow. Going for 3lbs off between Monday and the following Monday...

JontyDoggle37 · 19/09/2015 08:24

Pressed post too soon!
Emz sorry you had a bad few days, but don't miss meals to keep in your calorie count, you'll mess your metabolism up. Healthy first, skinny second is my motto!

Emz449 · 19/09/2015 09:10

Oh it wasn't intentional Jonty, I only woke up at 2 and split the pizza between lunch and dinner Grin

Off out later on tonight, the scales are saying 3lbs up, not surprising given how bloated I feel. I'm going to make sure I eat well and try and not drink too much tonight, wish me luck!

JontyDoggle37 · 20/09/2015 06:46

Morning all, yesterday's scales flutter has come true with a 0.75lb loss, so now down to 11st 5.75. The 10s are in sight! 3lb target to hit for the next 7 days...
Bath and Purpleknickers how are you doing, my compatriots in the 11's?Smile

Purpleknickers · 20/09/2015 10:57

Morning all well yesterday I was horrified to weigh in and find I'd put on 2lb making me 11st 12lb felt fed up and grumpy all day as I really have been good. Decided to stick with it as 30 day shred can apparently make you gain weight, then as my official weigh in day is today I tried again and I am down to 11st 7lb. I even got off the scales and back on again and yep 11.7 it is whoop whoop Grin

Jonty and Irishe well done on your losses that's fantastic Smile

Emz good luck I'm not brave enough to weigh in as many times as you because any gains send me into the depths of despair. I'm sure your 3lb gain was just a big meal or fluids so pretty sure you will be back on track today

irishe · 21/09/2015 10:58

Morning all
Well my official weekly weigh in confirmed a 4.5lb loss this week. So am delighted with that. Saw a couple of friends at the weekend who I had not seen for a couple of months, both commented that I looked like I had lost weight. Neither knew I was dieting, so this gave me a bit of a lift.

MFP has reduced my calories to 1310 now, the only downside to the weight loss!

purple fab news on your weight loss. I am like you, unduly impacted by the scales moving upwards.

jonty you are doing so well. The 10's really are in sight.

emz I am sure the small gain will disappear soon and you will be back in the 10's

Good luck to anyone else with a Monday weigh in!

Emz449 · 21/09/2015 11:42

Good morning all. I've just weighed myself and was 11 stone on the dot, hopefully will go down this week.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend, well done on the losses everyone! It would be interesting to see how much we have all lost during the time of this thread? Nearly at 1000 messages! I've lost about 1 stone and 7 lbs Happy with that! But still some work to do before my holiday in 2 months!

i haven't gone to work today and may not tomorrow. I have the worst stomach ache/sickness and i'm not sure why really! i have an inkling it could be due to a drink i had on saturday night, it was a vodka diet coke and it tasted like 100% alcohol, perhaps due to the syrup running out? I choked down about half of it but the taste of it made me feel ill. I also got sick about 5 times yesterday, violently sick and it couldn't have been down to a hangover because i hadn't drunk that much! So yes very irritating, good for the diet though! Just hope it passes soon

OP posts:
irishe · 22/09/2015 09:09

emz that sounds horrible, hope the sickness passes soon.

MajesticWhine · 22/09/2015 10:18

hope you are feeling better now emz.
I am feeling pre-menstrual, hungry and bored with dieting. I am really struggling to stick to my MFP calories at the moment, so I am just trying to do lots of exercise, not completely lose the plot and try to keep my weight at 9st 13 this week.

Moochops89 · 22/09/2015 12:36

Hello everyone, well done on your brilliant losses! I've struggled a little this week, been working nights and also TOTM, had the odd extra treat here and there and saw a 1lb gain yesterday. On nights again this week, and while I rarely get a decent break it throws my eating pattern out, as I've been trying not to eat after 7-8pm. Plus I never fancy eating what I've brought in so end up having toast to feel like I'm eating something substantial! I've also got SiL's wedding on Friday in the middle of my night shifts, I want to enjoy myself so although I won't be drinking I will enjoy the food and not worry too much about it. I won't hold out hope for a loss next Monday though. I'm a bit disheartened as I've only lost a total of 4lb and I'm eating about half the calories I was before, if not much less! So I'm starting to wonder what the point is Sad

Emz449 · 22/09/2015 12:49

Thank you, feeling a bit better today which is good, not really thinking about MFP so much, but making sure i keep an eye on things, food has mainly revolved around toast! Hoping to go back to work tomorrow and have more of a routine, slightly dreading it though always so busy if i havent been there!

Moochops i'm sure the weight will get moving soon, it must be difficult with working night shifts as well, i read once that your body mainly looses weight when your asleep between 11 and 3am, but that might be complete nonsense!

Majestic i felt like that a few weeks ago and found it tough getting back into it, i think a friend of mine losing weight kick started some competitive mindset in me and i managed to get back on the wagon!

I'll be back onto the low carb mindset tomorrow, porridge, soups and meat and veg :)
