MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Hi all, finally got back onto mumsnet!!! I must've changed my password about 6 times Angry and all because some sad act took a dislike to this site.

Anyway Emz you are not the only one that's struggled this month, i too have had lots of distractions and nights out!! I've lost 2.5 lbs but not the 6 I wanted to reach my goal, I'm not bothered though, the boys are back in school on wed so I can get stuck into making September a good month.
Hope everyone is well Smile

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 30/08/2015 10:23

Glad to have you back, leesmum!

I'm 10st 10.5 lbs as of today, mainly thanks to Emz' pep talk a few posts ago. Wink So I've also lost 2.5 lbs this month, and most of that in the last two weeks. I'm 0.5 lb from having lost a stone!

willbeslimagain · 30/08/2015 13:58

Well done ladies, a loss is a loss and I'm ready to hit it hard in September with you all too!

Welcome back leesmum, it took me ages to get back in too!

I'm not sure on my weightloss as not back home till tues and always weigh first thing so will weigh in wed. Hoping to break the stone barrier but will see, clothes feel looser anyway so fingers crossed.

Have a good day all and hope you're enjoying the carnival if you went Emz, don't think I'll be going for a while now I've got a baby!

Xx

Emz449 · 30/08/2015 14:02

Well done on your loss Smillas! That's great Smile.

I hope you get to see a loss willbeslimagain good luck!

I didn't end up going to Notting hill, the train strike was going to Make it a pain so decided against it. Just waiting for my boyfriend to arrive and have made some brownies for his arrival. I might have one or two myself but stop myself at that! I've also got some good food in for the rest of the weekend. 100% from next week

Welcome Exasperated. Well done on your loss so far.
Emz - you still weigh less than at the start of August!
Willbe - fingers crossed for you on Wednesday
Smillas - really fantastic weight loss there Smile

So my final August weigh in... 14lb loss since 1st August. I am chuffed to bits. Been sticking to 1200 pretty much religiously although I have had a couple of days over due to social things. I have also done my best to do a bit of gentle exercise a few days per week. Whatever - it is working!

Emz449 · 31/08/2015 11:53

That is amazing IMusteatmoreveg! Congratulations, you must be so happy

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 31/08/2015 12:06

Holy moly, MoreVeg! A stone in a month, nice!

willbeslimagain · 31/08/2015 12:11

That's inspirational imust, congratulations!!!

Did you eat under 1200 most days? Shows what discipline can do!

Emz449 · 31/08/2015 14:10

You have to tell us your secret now Imust Wink

OP posts:
IMustEatMoreVeg · 31/08/2015 21:56

I know I can't quite believe it - I keep looking at my spreadsheet to make sure I haven't miscounted. Grin

I do have a fair bit to lose - my BMI is still 25.5 so maybe that is why the weight is coming off quickly at the moment.

I eat 1200 to 1350 most days, because I eat any calories that mfp gives me for my fitbit. But I never go over except for a very few days when I have been out for dinner.
If I know I am going out for an unavoidably large dinner (like a few weeks ago I was going for a tasting menu so no opportunity to order wisely) I eat breakfast but no lunch that day.

I have been weighing EVERYTHING so I know exactly what calories I am eating. Also finding prepacked salad from Marks and Spencer good lunch options as calories clearly marked.

That's all I can think of. Losses are going to slow down now inevitably but what a great boost this month has been! I feel properly inspired to continue. Maintaining will be a bigger challenge once I finally get to goal.

Bathsheba3 · 01/09/2015 13:21

Hello

Imust - AMAZING!!! Huge well done to you.

And an enormous well-done Emz for sticking with it. What you have done is kept going, and that is easier said than done. If I tell you I've gone up to 12 1 1/2 Blush that should make you feel better Wink.

So my Sept challenge is to loose the 1 1/2 to get back in the 11's, and then to get to 11 stone 6 by end sept.

Smila & Leesmum - 2 1/2lbs off is fantastic. Agree with you about getting kids to school and getting back into a routine.

Emz449 · 01/09/2015 21:53

You'll smash it BathSmile it's good to see you back

In all honesty I haven't been the best dieter today, in fact it's been truly awful and involved a cheese stuffed burger and amazing chips from homemade burger company and I am currently munching cookies in bed.

Normal service will resume on Thursday and I won't be weighing myself till after the weekend!

I've done alright so far today, though I ate my maintenance calories yesterday. At least I didn't go over those. I was 68.2 kg today, as I was yesterday, so that's my starting weight for September - 10 stone 10.5. I think my goal for September will be to lose at least 4.5 lbs. Hopefully more though - I just got my first monthly installment of student grant money (which I just became eligible for) so I can afford some new clothes when I finally feel close enough to my goal weight to spend money on them!

willbeslimagain · 02/09/2015 06:20

So final weigh in this morning- 9.02, ahhhhh really wanted to be in the 8s but my own fault as I had maintenance calories yesterday (including nandos, wine and a cornetto) but 4/5lbs gone in total so I'm pretty happy with that, especially considering I only averaged 12-1300 in the last two weeks. 7lbs till pre baby weight, Sept aim is another 4lbs off.

Back on it today! Have a great one all X

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 02/09/2015 11:52

Down to 10st 10, so a stone lost now. Yippee! Grin

Bathsheba3 · 02/09/2015 13:40

Phew - back in the 11's this morning. Amazing what calorie counting / cutting down on carbs can do!
Well done on your loss's Will & Smilla.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 02/09/2015 18:54

Willbe that's not far to go. Such great progress!
Well done Smillas, a stone is fabulous. Have you weighed out a stone of books or something and picked it up? A stone is surprisingly heavy!

Bathsheba fantastic on being in the 11s. I am only a few pounds off the 11s myself. How does it feel??!!

Bathsheba3 · 02/09/2015 19:47

Feels great Imust, thanks for asking. I started at 13st back in June. Lost a stone, and a bit more. But considering routine totally out the window with school summer hols I am amazed I didn't put more it all back on. It is so good to have been able to fit into my old summer clothes this year! I love my food (and wine), and comfort eat really badly. But for me being in control is in my head. I feel back in zone, and determined to stick with it again. This thread has been amazing - so lovely to check-in and "chat" with you lovely supportive lot. Ahh!

Emz449 · 03/09/2015 11:35

Well done Bath, very happy for you Smile

I'm returning full force from today! Porridge for breakfast and salad for lunch and then chilli later but with no rice! Trying to keep things as low carb as possible. I've had a terrible couple of days diet wise with my boyfriend so I don't dare step on the scales to see what the damage is. Might weigh myself on Sunday after I have had a few days back on track. It was only 3 days so hopefully the damage won't be too bad Hmm

In a way I needed the few days to get the bad eating out of my system, I was feeling about meh about it before hand. I also said goodbye to my boyfriend for the last time this morning, 86 days until I see him next, the flights have all been booked and I can't wait already Grin

Emz449 · 03/09/2015 21:00

It may be full force tomorrow instead of today..... Kick up the backside given and strict talking to. Boyfriend has gone home and all the sweet treats have vacated the fridge!

OP posts:
willbeslimagain · 03/09/2015 21:20

Me too Emz, have had two serious binge days (3000 calories!!!) and so annoyed at myself.
Getting back on it tmw and not weighing till mid next week when I have undone the damage!

irishe · 03/09/2015 21:27

Hi everyone
Just discovered thread, can I join in?
I have been dieting on/off since jan this year.
Started out doing diet chef with mfp. Managed to lose 1.5 stone. Could not maintain diet chef due to hating food! Have been off diet since around June.
Finally got back on scales this Monday, totally relieved to have only put 4lbs on, was convinced I had put a stone on.

I have loads to lose, I can't even bear to post what my weight is, so I am going to post weight loss or gain (grim thought). I intend to stick to 1350 daily calories. And want to lose 1.5 stones by the end of the year.

I am not exercising at the moment due to health issues but hope to do some eventually!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 04/09/2015 08:10

Welcome Irishe. If you just stick to your calories every day you will very soon be losing! Can you walk a little? That counts as exercise but even if you can't the weight will still come off. Just weigh and record EVERYTHING!

irishe · 04/09/2015 09:44

Thanks for the welcome imust
I can walk, just not very far and not fast! Anything would be better than nothing I suppose.
I have been sticking to my calories since Monday and have lost 4.5lbs so am feeling newly inspired!
My problem, apart from liking food too much, is maintaining a diet over the longer term. I am ok for 3 months or so, then get bored.

You are right, the key is recording everything. MFP is great for that.
Onwards and downwards hopefully.

Bathsheba3 · 04/09/2015 10:19

Hi Irishe - you sound like me! I kicked myself back in gear started-up again Monday and have lost 2.5 lbs of the 4.5 I've put on since July. YIPPEE!

will - 3000 cals is nothing Blush!. As Imust said, record everything.
85 day now Emz - feel sad for you. But you are are very strong & will be 10s in a flash.
