MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Good luck with your challenge ladies Grin

11 stone 4 this morning still, starting afresh today with renewed vigour! Would love to lose 2lbs as well this week but will see what happens. I've got my chicken and veg prepped for my meals, adding a teaspoon of pesto to jazz it up a bit and salads for lunch

.......up a lb today. So that means I have 3 lbs to loose Wink Think I must have been using proper tonic instead of slimline yea right, nothing to do with the copious wine I had that didn't make it onto MFP So I will join you Jonty et al in the challenge.

Good Luck Bath!

1st day and stuck to my menu which i am very happy about Smile

Porridge for breakfast, apple mid morning snack, chicken salad (lettuce, sweetcorn, olives, feta and dressing) and grapes for lunch and then chilli for dinner (without the rice) with 28g of chocolate for dessert.

I feel very in control and like I should have a good loss this week if i keep it up! My friend has got my scales this week which is a good thing. totm is looming and i would be pretty disheartened to seeing scales going up due to bloating but hopefully that couple of pounds will happen! Maybe 11 stone 2/1 by Saturday? Please!

I'm sure i'm probably late to the party but I have a new found appreciation of how amazing Aldi is! I used to live in the centre of Bristol where there wasn't one to be seen but now i've moved to a place where there's one down the road.... it's changed my life! I got all my salad ingredients including dressing for less than £5! Grapes for 39p! 1kg of green bears for 80p! The only thing i've had that i haven't liked and could tell the difference was the weetabix, i won't buy it again, need a bit of crunch. Also diet coke, nothing but the branded will do for me unfortunately

Evening all
Well I had my first weigh in today and have lost 6lbs in my first week, so I am delighted with that.
That's me a pound shy of losing 2 stone this year so am feeling newly motivated.
I have set myself a mini goal of losing a stone by the time we go on holiday in November.
Good luck everyone else on your mini goals!

Emz449 · 07/09/2015 21:55

Congratulations Irishe! That's amazing, you must be so happy Flowers

willbeslimagain · 08/09/2015 06:26

Congratulations irishe!! Were you sticking to 1200/day?

Sounds like you are back on it Emz, although green bears in Aldi did make me laugh ;)

Weighed yesterday and had put back on 2.5 of the 5 I had lost :( hoping it's water retention and healthy low carb and calorie eating will get me back to where I was quickly. I really pigged out though so my own fault

JontyDoggle37 · 08/09/2015 06:29

irishe that's fantastic well done!
ruros I'm not sure if you meant to start your own thread or join in on this one where we're My Fitness Pal as a tool to help us lose weight - you're welcome to join us though!

My morning weigh in revealed another 1.5lbs gone overnight!!! Back down to 11st 8.25, which is only 3/4lb heavier than before holiday. I was going to do a strength training session today but I ache so much from running yesterday I think I'm going to give it a miss, and just run for this week and add the strength work back in again next week. Have a good day all!

Purpleknickers · 08/09/2015 08:46

Well done Irishe thats fab, good luck with your mini goal

Bath wine is my downfall , we went out for dinner last night as it was my sons birthday and I had some wine 3 glasses I did 30 day shred this morning to try and cancel it out but I fear that wasn't enough so I'm going to force myself to go to circuit class later

Jonty well done on the disappearing 1.5lb I hope you havent sent it to me

Emz I am jealous of your Aldi shopping, my nearest one is 10 miles away and I cant be bothered to drive there

Ruros good luck with your challenge

irishe · 08/09/2015 09:05

Thank you for your congratulations everyone.
Yes I am delighted, I know the first week is the easiest, with losing water and being keen but its still great to see the nos on the scales move downwards. I just need to keep it up!

will last week I was sticking to 1350. This week it will be 1340. I am sure once you get back on track that 2.5lbs will shift. Sounds like you know what caused it? It's the unexpected weight gain that puts me off my stride.

We are going out for a meal on friday night, so am a bit concerned about that putting me off course. How do you guys handle meals out? I am veggie so there is only a couple of options to choose from both of which have cheese in them! So no low cal options. One meal is an Aubergine gratin and the other is a broccoli and smoked cheese risotto. What to choose?!

jonty well done on shifting the holiday weight so quickly. You must be pleased.

Bathsheba3 · 08/09/2015 14:31

Everyone are doing so well and sounding very positive - hurrah us Star

Emz449 · 08/09/2015 19:33

Must feel good to have shed pretty much all of your holiday weight Jonty, congrats!

ha didn't even realise i had written that willbe, thats autocorrect for you!

hmm not a great deal of choice irishe, i'd probably lean towards the gratin more maybe? do you know whats in it? if you do maybe try and break it down in MFP? If i'm going out for dinner i usually look up the menu before hand and eat less during the day, i do still want to enjoy myself and what i'm eating Smile

Another good day for me, hurrah! no weigh in until maybe thursday morning though, my friend forgot to bring them in today. Should get them back tomorrow or Thursday, i hope there's a loss! Drives me mad not being able to jump on the scales.

Dinner was actually great, chicken breast and then boiled some of the green BEANS Grin and peas and then a teaspoon of pesto, it really made all the difference!

Had a sneaky weigh in this morning, was hoping to have reached 2 stone loss, but still half a pound away. Ah well, I will clear it this week sometime.

Today's eating has gone well so far, skipped breakfast, broccoli salad for lunch plus 3 slices jarlsberg and for dinner tonight it is lentil cottage pie with sprouts. It is cooking at the moment and it is fair to say, I am looking forward to it!

Hope today going well for you all.

irishe · 08/09/2015 20:04

Yes emz I was thinking maybe the gratin, but it is hard to say, as you pointed out, not much choice! I think I will roast up some veg, courgettes, onions, peppers, that kind of thing and munch on that during the day. I want to enjoy myself as well but I find it so hard to lose weight I don't want to blow the good start I have had.

JontyDoggle37 · 09/09/2015 06:21

Morning all, no loss today but considering we had fish and chip takeaway for dinner last night and I had lunch out with a friend in just glad it's not a gain. I made good choices at the lunch out by checking the menu in advance though, and have done the same for today when I have another lunch out with friends after a baby class. Run scheduled for this morning, plus a very busy day ahead so best get to it!

Emz449 · 09/09/2015 08:58

Morning all! There won't be a weigh in for me until Friday now, would have liked to have seen what I weigh but never mind, hopefully I'll see a good figure on Friday morning!

Hope everyone has a good day today Smile

Well my weight loss has slowed down now I am at a healthy BMI. No loss for the last 6 days even though I have stuck to 1200 calories. I know I just have to be patient and stick at it. Maybe there will be a loss all of a sudden!

irishe · 09/09/2015 14:43

Hi all
emz those scales will be back soon enough! It is frustrating though when you want to check.
iwant are you looking to lose much more? It can be hard to keep the faith during plateaus. Here's hoping for that sudden weight loss for you.

I am keeping on track with my cals. Trying to eat slightly under daily cals, so I have some to play with for the meal out on Friday night.

Good luck all

Emz449 · 09/09/2015 20:18

yeah my friend is bringing them in tomorrow, i hope all this impatience to get on them is for a good reason on Friday morning! Been good as gold all week including today Smile Saturday may be my day though, the extra sleep at weekends always helps

OP posts:
slithytove · 09/09/2015 20:26

Im still at 12'9 but really pleased with that after a big pissed up wedding weekend, involving curry and pizza.

Back on it with a vengeance now, want to hit 11 stone something by October. About 1lb every 2 days, so maybe a bit too challenging but worth a go. Did Aqua Zumba last night which was fun.

Emz449 · 09/09/2015 20:28

oh i have to mention next week, the week from dieting hell....

Weds - Babyshower, dominos pizzas and the baking of cupcakes has been mentioned! I haven't had dominos since maybe december? I'm not sure i'll be able to pass either as there won't be other options. i've checked MFP and 300 calories for a slice Shock, looks like it'll be dust for breakfast and lunch!

Thursday - All day meeting with lunch provided, sandwiches etc and then work party in the evening which includes a buffet and bbq and a free bar (booked friday off in preparation)

Saturday - Good friends birthday night out, meal and drinks.

Going to be a testing week! I've got ideas of how i'm going to work it, when i go out with these people they are big on the drinking so i might try and be a bit sneaky and have diet coke whilst pretending that it is alcoholic, i will of course have a few drinks, but alcohol definitely has the biggest impact on my weight. I might also bring my own lunch to the works meeting, try and do the best that i can i suppose!

Hello al! It's been a while, mainly because I got locked out of my old account with all the recent site issues and had to create a new account. Anyway, I have finally reached my goal of 10st and given that I'm 5'9 I think I'll be stopping there! This is a stone down on what I was before I got pregnant so am pretty chuffed about it. Most of it dropped off while breastfeeding but it started to creep back on when I went back to my office of feeders. Am now on maintenance but am going to build up the calories over a few weeks.

Emz449 · 09/09/2015 20:46

Congrats Sansarya thats amazing, you must be chuffed Flowers

irishe · 10/09/2015 00:07

Congrats sansarya. That is an amazing achievement. I am 5ft 10 and can only dream of how slim I would be at 10 stone anything!

JontyDoggle37 · 10/09/2015 06:33

Congrats sansarya I'm 5'9 too and my goal is also 10 stone, I loved how I felt at that weight at my wedding last year.
Emz do you drink gin and (slimline) tonic at all, or vodka and diet coke? They're both very low calorie options as far as alcohol goes).
Well I got a lovely surprise on the scales this morning - another 2 pounds down! Now at 11st 6.5. I've definitely smashed my 2lb goal for the week as I've lost 4.25lbs since Saturday! Expect I'll have quite a few days before another drop now, but I'm thinking about really going for it and revising my end of September goal to be 11st exactly. Which would mean only a stone to go and would feel amazing!!!!!
