Thank you- wish I wasn't at work though! x

helenahandbag · 30/04/2015 10:35

I can never take my birthday off thanks to working in an academic dept in a uni - our exam period starts on the week of my birthday every year. I had hoped to get married in May before NYC gets too hot and humid but we're strictly no time off between the end of April and mid-June Angry xo

gotredonyou · 30/04/2015 10:40

That's mean :( well next year I've worked out my birthday is a Saturday !! :)

We have this silly rule here that when its your birthday you have to bring cream cakes in for everyone else. But I don't even like cream cakes so I don't get one bought for me on everyone else's birthday and I still have to buy everyone one on my birthday!!!! lol

Dowser · 30/04/2015 10:52

Happy birthday. Are you coming off the wagon for today?

I was always off school for my birthday. I hated it. I wanted all the class to sing happy birthday to me and to get my traffic light lolly pop :-(

Now I just wish it wasn't in February.

Day two of no sugar ( again)

Was in a cafe and had a slice of gluten free lemon drizzle cake and it was gross . It was pure sugar. I may as well have dipped my spoon in the sugar bowl and eaten that. I only ate it as someone else had paid.

About ten years ago I had a cup of hot chocolate at a railway cafe that was just sickly, sweet foul crap. I've never touched hot chocolate since.

I'm hoping this cake will do the same formy sweet tooth.

Four months and three weeks to wedding....there's still time!

I'll be 24 tomorrow arghh! I feel really old actually, like I am wasting my youth?? Hence why I have planned a leopard print themed bar crawl on Saturday so I can act 18 again !! hahaha x

Sorry girls....that is so young. I'm nearly 40 years older than you too.

I'd love to say I felt 18 but realistically on a good day it's more like 40!

Sadly those good days are as rare as hens teeth.

I've done something to my arm. The pain radiating down my arm kept me awake last night!

So it's official, I'm tired and feel 83! But I'm on holiday so will pull my big girl pants on!

Err ! That's literally! Lol!

gotredonyou · 30/04/2015 11:18

I'm having a healthy breakfast & lunch (scrambled eggs, ham salad) but going to a Brazilian restaurant tonight which is amazing !! They basically bring round all different cuts of meat (sirloin steak, garlic beef, chorizo sausage, chicken wrapped in bacon etc...) and you can eat as much as you like along side a gorgeous salad bar with cous cous, daughinoise potato's, cheese, cured meats etc.. xx

Dowser · 30/04/2015 23:17

Can hear those scales in the morning going ...ouch! Already ;-)

gotredonyou · 01/05/2015 09:09

I didn't dare step on the scales this morning as I still feel full from last night! Going to have a 'light' day today...no breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and veg stirfry for dinner. Any recommendations for what to eat before a full day pub crawl??

helenahandbag · 01/05/2015 10:00

I still don't know what I weigh and I'm oddly not bothered about it. I ate pretty badly yesterday afternoon (wasting your whole lunch hour thanks to the chatty Clinique woman in Debenhams, getting back to work late and then discovering that your boss' boss gave you a £1500 expense claim that has gone missing in internal mail will do that to you...) so I'm throwing in a fast day to balance out the week.

I was trying to stay strong all week because I'm at Hell on Earth (aka my friend's daughter's 2nd birthday party) all day Sunday and I can't get out of it. It would look pretty rude to take a salad when my friend has laid out a big buffet so I'll pick food wisely and just have a small slice of cake.

Why is a kids party hell on earth?? lol I'm going to take my body coach before photos tonigh!! x

helenahandbag · 01/05/2015 10:57

Well, whoop-de-doo for people who don't stress eat. I was stressed, I didn't have time to make and eat the lunch I'd planned to have so I grabbed whatever biscuits and chocolates were available in the office.

A party at a soft play full of screaming, sticky-handed toddlers is my personal idea of hell. I don't like children, I don't want children and I spend the whole time I'm with my friend chasing her daughter with a wet wipe because she likes to suck on marshmallows and then touch my £200 handbag. She's generally very sweet and I'm happy to play with her for a few hours but a four hour round trip for a toddler scream-fest isn't how I'd like to spend my Sunday!

gotredonyou · 01/05/2015 16:36

I was merely trying to point out that not everyone resorts to chocolate/biscuits when they've spent their lunch hour in Debenhams Hmm

I would just be honest to your friend and say its not really your scene.

helenahandbag · 01/05/2015 17:24

It wasn't just about Debenhams, I was in a rage because all I wanted was moisturiser but the woman kept me waiting fifteen minutes while she went to the toilet, then spent a further fifteen minutes trying to upsell me, book me in for consultations, book me in for make up classes, pay £10 to do their 'master class', put all of my details and purchases into her iPad, etc before I told her a third time that I had to be back at the office for 1. I then got shitty attitude from her, my stuff was thrown through the till with no offer of a bag and then I was hot and angry by the time I got back Angry

I didn't mean to come off as snappy in my comment, I just already felt bad enough without that unhelpful comment Sad

Dowser · 01/05/2015 22:18

Three days without sugar.

Getting it used to it now.

Met a friend I haven't seen since August yesterday. She's a permanent wheelchair user. She's lost 2 st 10 lbs since September. Just one pound every week.

No exercise, just slow and steady wins the race.

I'm full of admiration for her. She loves to cook and drink wine. If I'd done the same I would be down 16 lbs now. That's about the total of what I was wanting to lose .

CookieMonster101 · 02/05/2015 04:25

Helen, im a huge emotional eater as well. Came home late and stressed two nights this week and ate rubbish so gained thee pounds back. Considering I had only lost seven it's rubbish and I feel horrible.

Sometimes when I'm tired and stressed there's just no stopping me at all.

Dowser · 02/05/2015 07:53

I'm in that camp too.

Something you might want to try is Bachs Rescue Remedy. It's good for all kind of shock, distress, upset, fears etc. if you do decide to give it a try be sure to get Ainsworths and not Nelsons. Nelsons changed the way they made it : ie the way Dr Bach perfected it.

Ainsworths have stuck to the traditional way and even use the pale yellow laBel dr Bach used.

When you come in or if a situation arises at work, or with family just put 4 drops in a glass of water and sip it slowly and take calming breaths. You can put 4 drops straight on the tongue.

Ainsworths seems to be only sold in proper health stores. I've never seen it in boots or holland and Barrett.

It might just stop you reaching for the comfort foods.

I'm onto day 4 without sugar. By day 6 it should all be out of my body.
Then we will see if I can stop sabotaging my diet.

A very good book to read is sugar blues by William Defty . He became the husband of G.oria Swanson ( actress) who purportedly never touched sugar and had beautiful skin.

Well, we shall see!

Have a good day everyone.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/05/2015 10:54

£200 handbag comment made me Grin

Hope you all do well for your weddings am leaving the thread.

Good luck to all.

CookieMonster101 · 02/05/2015 11:34

Oh no why are you leaving?

Dowser · 02/05/2015 23:28

Sad to hear that. Hope all ok?

gotredonyou · 06/05/2015 09:24

Oh dear- It is very quiet on this thread at the moment! How is everyone getting on? I am awaiting my personalised diet & fitness plan from The Body Coach.

Dowser · 06/05/2015 19:37

I'm still chugging away GOTRED but yes it is a bit quiet.

Day 7-8 of no sugar.

Doing ok on it . Not sure if I've lost yet.

It has got easier as the days have gone on.

In my fantasy my wedding dress is hanging off me. The reality is it will still fit!

Dowser · 09/05/2015 09:46

Hello Brides.

How are you doing?

I'm not sure if ive lost any weight since January (17 weeks should be 17 lbs according to Mfp) but I've not put any on.

Still plugging away at it.

Day 10 or 11 of no sugar.

CookieMonster101 · 11/05/2015 05:52

I feel your pain, Dowser.

Since January I've been in a constant spiral of losing, breaking diet, gaining, losing. The same two or three lbs!

Have lost about 5 lbs but it's a bit pathetic for that period of time.

How are you doing with no sugar?

Dowser · 11/05/2015 08:13

I'm doing great with no sugar. It only bothers me a little bit. What I'm more concerned about is having cut out wheat ( no cakes, pasta, biscuits, cereals) dairy ( no milk, you girt, ice cream) just a minuscule amount of cheese occasionally, and no sugar( everything else)

I don't appear to be losing!

Yesterday was a really sad day. I'd bought a gorgeous Sophie grey dress £18 instead of £60. Only one in the shop in a size 16 . I can't even fasten it.

It's a pale salmon pink and I have the perfect shoes. It's ideal for my civil ceremony. ( yes I know I have the pink one) . Just gutted. I really am.

I'm a 14 in a stretchy one ( although was wearing a 12 yesterday and a 10 the day before) this un stretchy 16 wouldn't accommodate the back fat that was spilling out of it.

I love the dress. I'm taking it to a dressmakers today to see if some material from the bottom( its a bit long) could be inserted into it. I don't think I'll diet it off going on the last four months.

It's two months to the civil ceremony.

I don't think I want to go down that far. Needs a good two inches from waist and maybe the same off bust. It would mean all my other clothes would hang off me.

Grrr!

helenahandbag · 19/05/2015 09:46

Hi ladies, how are we all doing?

I abandoned this thread because my head just hasn't been in the right place to talk about weight loss and diet, I've been all over the shop. I'm feeling better now and I've got two good days under my belt.

I'm also two days wheat/gluten free. I'm really making an effort to help my suspected IBS and poor digestion, plus there are a few other symptoms of gluten sensitivity that ring a bell with me. It isn't as restrictive as it sounds, though if it keeps me away from pizza and cake that can only be a bonus! I'm really hoping it will make a difference, I'm sick to death of being constipated, bloated and tired all the time.
