Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Well done on doing the Shred Blessed. It's those mental gymnastics 'shall I shan't I?' that I find exhausting. These days I try to kettlebell just after breakfast and don't think about it, I just zombie walk into it before I talk myself out of it!

Tomorrow is going to be testing. We have a christening to go to, I've just re-read the invite, it lasts 6hrs 45minutes! Shock I'm hoping to slope off after a paltry 3hrs. There's a buffet so goodness knows whether that'll be lc friendly or not. I've just checked the venue's website and their restaurant won't be open, only a bar serving afternoon tea

Forewarned it forearmed though, I guess I'll have to pack myself a back up lc picnic in case the buffet's not suitable.

Macloveswill · 29/05/2015 16:03

Well done on the shred Blessed! How did you find it? I managed Day 5 this morning....it really doesn't seem to be getting any easier for me yet. But just adjusting my halo, as I followed that with a body balance class at the gym this morning ??

I've spent this afternoon looking after a friend's 3 children along with my DD....wow I'm really not used to 4 at once...nearly as hard as the shred!

Good luck with the buffet tomorrow Prof....that's one hell of a long christening! Buffets are notoriously pastry and carb heavy usually, so hopefully there'll at least be salad and some cold meats you can snaffle....your mayo sachets are bound to come in useful.

About time.....I've only gone and had a bloody whoosh! 4.4lbs off this morning! I couldn't believe it, things have been so slow for ages.

So that's 3st 2.8lbs lost altogether. Still 78.8lbs to go, though slightly less daunting than 123.6lbs I had to lose at the start! Grin

Dragging myself to do Day 6 of the shred very soon, right after I work out what the hell I can wear for a school mum's night out tonight. Everything I have looks a bit shit, so I ordered 6 different dresses from ASOS and 5 are horrid and one is only ok. So now for a frantic trying on session to find something...aargh!!! Confused

Yay! I bet it's doing Shred that's tipped things in your favour.

Just back from the marathon Christening. Everyone started drifting away after 3hrs so we did the same. Buffet was entirely unsuitable so thank goodness for my emergency pack of pork scratchings and atkins bars. Had a much nicer day than I anticipate though so hurrah for that.

blessedenough · 30/05/2015 21:13

Shred is harder on my knees than I remembered! I was just getting to the point where I had had enough and I realised I was half way through the last circuit. Side lunges with arm raises are a ki!led and I only use 1kg weights!! Mum laughed her head off at my huffing and puffing!! I did body pump today and it was easier well a tiny bit. Hubby and I went to cinema last night and had a bottle of prosecucco in a lush bar unfortunately it was then followed by a posh burger with bun oopps and the giant onion rings!!!

I sweated out the bubbles today at pump and have been strict on dairy and had 3 bpcs. Pump did rid me of my fuzzy head. I will shred again tom morning.

Well done Mac on your whoosh very jealous.

Well done prof on resisting the buffet, they usually are crammed full of carby stuff - I used to love a good buffet. Do you do kettle bells everyday??

Totm so not expecting good losses this week and considering a 3 day fat fast to get things going again- umm

ProfYaffle · 31/05/2015 07:03

I do kettlebells 4x per week. If you're getting sore knees, it might be worth just checking that you're doing everything absolutely correctly.

There are a lot of squats, lunges etc in kettlebells and I found my knees were giving me jip. I had to work really hard on ensuring my form was perfect. Eg squats, I had to really take the weight back over my heels (to the point where I almost felt off balance), take my legs quite wide and stick my bum out far more than I thought I needed to. Now I've cracked the form I do the routines fairly slowly to ensure I'm keeping it. The pain in my knees has now gone, the squats are harder but more effective. I've really noticed a difference in my thigh muscles since doing it properly.

I'm awake now after having a nightmare - I dreamt that I mindlessly finished off Dd's chips! A voice in my head went "What are you doing Shock") And I was like "Shit! I forgot about LC!" I was devastated! Grin

blessedenough · 31/05/2015 09:23

I get dreams like that and I am really annoyed that I have cheated. It takes me a minute or so to realise it was just a dream!

Busy day to today we are off to a theme park and have to prep for students arrival this evening.

LetMeBeLight · 02/06/2015 12:41

Sounds like everybody is doing well on the exercise front, hope it's continuing and well done on that loss Mac, well deserved and long overdue. Just shows that if you keep at it, it'll come off eventually.

I've not weighed myself in a while. I know I did some damage a couple of weeks ago (where I ate badly for about a week), so I'm hoping another few days and I'll be back to where I was at worst and a few pounds off at best.

I feel like I've turned over a bit of a new leaf recently. I've had so many things hanging over me, ranging from minor to big tasks, that I must have felt a bit overwhelmed and haven't been getting any of them done. So, I've written a list (full page of A4 in type!) and am working my way through.

It seems to have given me a bit of a boost on the organisational front - I've brought in lunch today (big tub of green veg) and am now quite established with the habit of the early evening shred (and morning dog walk). I think I'm an all or nothing person - I'm either on top of work, house, diet, exercise, admin etc etc or it's ALL falling to pot. So, hope I can keep this up!!

Macloveswill · 03/06/2015 07:18

Unfortunately I've had a very unexpected family bereavement and so my inclination to exercise has completely disappeared.

It's going to be a difficult few weeks (we have to wait for an autopsy and for them to be flown back to this country, which could take awhile).

I had a walk last night just to clear my head and will try to stick to low-carb, but will probably need to climb back on the wagon in a couple of weeks. I will check in when I can.

Oh no Mac I am so sorry. Take care of yourself and do what you can- some things are moreimportant than weightloss. Such a difficult time so sending you virtual hugs.

ProfYaffle · 03/06/2015 07:29

Oh my goodness Mac, what shocking news. Obviously you do what you need to now. Take care of yourself and your family - we're all here on this thread if you need us. x.

LetMeBeLight · 03/06/2015 08:07

So sorry to hear that Mac. I echo what the other two have said. Just take care of yourself for now and we'll all be here for you if you need a sympathetic ear or help getting back on the wagon later.

Macloveswill · 03/06/2015 10:21

Thank you my lovely thread friends, I really appreciate your support, it means a lot! X

How is everyone doing?

I've managed to eat healthily/exercise so far this week, and have also managed to cross a fair bit off my to-do list. Plan to enjoy some wine over the weekend though.

Just been for a haircut and my hairdresser said I'd definitely lost weight which is nice. I also had a good 6 inches of hair cut off, so am hoping that might help the scales as well!!

Hope everything is going as well as it can be Mac, remember we are here if you need us! I hope you're managing to find some time for yourself, especially for a walk. I am most definitely NOT saying that in terms of weight loss, but I just find the combination of fresh air/chance to think clearly/endorphins always makes me feel better.

ProfYaffle · 05/06/2015 07:35

I'm not doing too badly LetMe. Went out for tea last night, asked for Hunter's chicken with salad instead of chips but they gave me the chips anyway! I was genuinely disappointed not to get my salad and didn't eat the chips - didn't even want them.

LetMeBeLight · 05/06/2015 11:36

That would annoy me! I'm usually very "British" about restaurants and can't recall ever complaining, but I think I would have to pipe up in that situation. I'd have wanted to salad too!

Feeling rather tired today, which is a shame, as I have loads on in work! Ah well, nearly the weekend. Had a lovely dinner last night of pork belly strips marinated in bbq sauce, asparagus, corn on the cob (all barbecued) and salad. If the rain holds off, we'll probably have similar tonight.

Onwards and downwards everyone.

Hope the house move is going well Blessed. And thinking of you Mac x

ProfYaffle · 05/06/2015 14:59

Normally I would too but this is our regular place and they've made this mistake a few times before. I've always mentioned it and got the chips replaced with salad but last night there was one member of staff on her own and it was busier than normal. I think she just selected the wrong option on the till. I felt bad making her life more difficult. I did get a small side salad with the chips and the kids were happy enough to have a few extra chips so no biggie really. I was just pleased with myself for not even wanting the chips!

blessedenough · 05/06/2015 16:12

I have been koko here. Loads of exercise I ran for 13 mins the other day. However bottom of our chain has fallen through and our buyers and their estate agents haven't behaved very well. Even my own ea said they should have kept a closer eye on things so basically no dream house and I am £650

  • out of pocket!. Gutted but didn't drown my sorrows with wine and sugar - now can't afford it.

Still no movement on scales but I am def slimmer and my size 18 skinnies are hanging off of me so I need to buy more I am hopping to get a few more weeks out of them and skip straight to size 14s.

Weather is amazing here and will be taking kids to a working farm this weekend.

Good luck everyone and well done let me on tackling all your tasks its a great feeling accomplishing stuff.

Prof I never used to complain in restaurants or question food but since lcing I am the Fussiest person ever!

GatoradeMeBitch · 05/06/2015 16:35

I was looking for this thread the other day and I couldn't find it! I think I commented for a while, I tried but gave up very quickly, I didn't have the right mindset. Plus I realize now I was heavily into the carb-caffeine-sugar spiral. People were very kind and encouraging though. I was just looking for excuses to quit!

About two weeks ago I just started dieting. We had nothing in (except tins, frozen fish, and vegetables in the fridge which I would buy and ignore) and that was usually my cue to book a shop for the next day, but I decided instead to give the diet another go.

I've lost 5 pounds in two weeks without having much structure to my diet yet, I've been eating things like rice cakes, potatoes, jam on porridge, etc, but I'm going to start tightening it up. I'm 16 stone 5lb now.

I think my cravings have gone, I know my appetite has decreased, and I'm actually using up the veggies in the fridge instead of letting them rot and go to waste.

My challenge for tomorrow is that some of my extended family are going out to a pizza restaurant for lunch. I don't know if I have the willpower to turn it down! I looked at the menu and it seems heavily carby - pasta, pizza or breaded stuff. I'm wondering if I could just have that one meal then go back to dieting. It's not like I have anything at home to satisfy cravings - though I will be upset if I get cravings...

GatoradeMeBitch · 05/06/2015 16:43

Sorry for your loss Mac Flowers

blessedenough · 05/06/2015 22:03

Gator - you can have a carby meal but you will pay the price in carb cravings it all depends on how good you are at jumping back on the wagon! I struggle and it takes me a week or so. Also you will confuse your body and it might take longer to get properly in the swing of things.

Now I would go for a Caesar salad minus the croutons or a nice steak, most places have that choice. In the beginning I would have def had pizza and suffered the consequences - now I find eating wheat esp gives me a terrible tummy and it gurgles and I get ibs style pains.

Well done on your weightloss so far however, 5lbs in 2 weeks is great.

I am just back from the gym with my 5k training buddies and I ran/walked for 32 mins, yay. We then had dinner there and the only vaguely non carby thing they had was a Cajun chicken salad which was miserable even fatted up with loads of mayo.

Off to bed now as knackered, have a fab weekend everyone and Gator good luck with your meal choices.

ProfYaffle · 06/06/2015 07:20

Well I had an interesting evening last night. We met our friends again, the ones we had fish and chips with where dh was raving about my weight loss and they were all a bit Confused. Except this time, there was suddenly a lot of interest in lc, asking for tips, recipes, 'we're thinking of giving it a go', 'your success has inspired me' etc So that was satisfying after last time! Grin

ProfYaffle · 06/06/2015 07:22

Gator - it's not Pizza Hut is it? Your description of the menu sounds like it. I got trapped in there once, I just had the salad bar and a breaded prawn starter. It was more carby than I'd have liked but not as bad as a pizza or something.

blessedenough · 06/06/2015 08:13

Well done prof, it sometimes takes people ages to notice and then you get "you have lost loads" comments but you are only a few pounds down from when you last saw them.

A few of my friends husbands have noticed but then I don't see them very often so its a bigger loss to notice.

The last couple of days I have inadvertently done a fat fast - 3 bpcs and a tiny often very late meal and this morning I am 5lb freaking pounds down!!!! I have finally broken the 13.8 barrier and I am now 13.3!!!!!!!

Off to body pump in a mo where I am going to increase all my weights, wish me luck as tom I might not be able to move!

ProfYaffle · 06/06/2015 08:16

Wow, the accidental fat fast sounds great! I may have to give it a go.
