Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Yawn, all I can say is, thank god it's Friday! It's been a long week this week after the hen do - the bank holiday couldn't come at a better time!

I shredded last night, but shan't be tonight - OH is out at the cricket all day, so I'm doing the evening dog walk as well.

Hope you have fun at the wedding Mac, and that packing is going well blessed - well done for people noticing you shrinking, it's a lovely feeling!

Home time cannot come soon enough, better get some coffee....

ProfYaffle · 22/05/2015 17:05

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone! We're off to the in laws tomorrow, I've just been and stocked up on some LC snacks (pork scratchings, snack cheese etc) to keep in my bag just in case mil is struggling with the LC food.

Has anyone ever looked into Fat Fasting? I've not lost again this week and I'm wondering if my weight loss is naturally slowing down. Being an impatient soul I want to speed it up again and have been thinking about IF/FF or something.

Blessed - interesting about the coffee. Even on this woe, calories do matter I think.

blessedenough · 22/05/2015 17:20

Hi Prof - i have been thinking about fat fasting - i would do it having 4 BPCs. That would total about 1000 cals and give me loads of lovely fat. Not sure how i would get on with 3 days of it mind.

I have been attempting to IF and i managed monday this week but not thurs. I think i need to be further into the diet as i have been messing about, i was hungry but i think its a result of the exercise -i had good results with it on the very first Bootcamp.

Let us know how you get on as i HAVE to get below 13.8st - i cant seem to break that barrier and its driving me MAD. Grrr.
I def think i am sensitive to dairy and cals do matter, when my mum was here i could have 4-5 creamy coffees a day so thats nearly 1000cals and then i would have 3 meals. My other thing i am trying to tackle is portion control as the food is so rich i dont need massive portions like i used to when i did SW.

Have a fab time at the In laws and a great bank holiday

ProfYaffle · 22/05/2015 18:40

tbh that's exactly why I calorie count. It forces portion control. I'm terrible at judging portions/weight by eye. What looks like a tiny portion is actually perfectly fine once I eat it. 'never knowingly undercatered' - that's me!

blessedenough · 22/05/2015 19:19

Lol at never knowing undercatered - i would take it as a personal insult if someone left my house hungry!!

Macloveswill · 25/05/2015 07:34

Haha at 'never knowingly undercatered' Prof....think we must all have that in common! We were eating party food for a week after my last bout of entertaining. Guests never have an empty glass or plate in our house. D'ya think that's what got us into this mess in the first place?! Wink

Hope you've all had great weekends with in-laws, packing etc. wedding was lovely and I felt I rocked the dress, but hated all the photos when I saw them last night! I just looked massive! The dress was a size 18 and a fitted lace style....I really thought I looked good and that it showed off my flatter tum and slimmer waist perfectly. But the photographic evidence is the opposite of what I saw in the mirror! Confused I have another wedding in 6 weeks and was going to wear the same frock (none of the same people will be there), but now thinking I need to knuckle down and get some more weight off and buy something new nearer the time. Preferably in a size 16 and more flattering!!!

So dairy has to be reduced I think for me and maybe I need to just eat less too. I'm hoping to have a look at the shred later if I can get DH to take DD out for a bit. I really have to get the pounds rolling off again.

S•B•C!!!!

Mac i know what you mean about the dress. I did a similar thing on my holiday, i thought i looked amazing and very thin but when i saw the photos i realised i am not the size 12 i think i am but very def a size 16-18. However in 6 weeks that dress will fit amazingly and look totally different.

I always get a shock when i see the side view - from the front i have def lost weight and can see my waist (the beginnings anyway) - my tops hang rather than cling etc but i still look like i have 2 swim rings under my clothes - although slightly smaller ones!

I hate bank holidays i havent been brilliant diet wise - aarrgghh. I am def suffering diet fatigue. I have 4 weeks then i have a whole series of parties etc so i need to be strict - no dairy, shred, water and lots of running. I am back up to 13.9st and have exactly 2 months until the 5k run.

I did body pump on sat and everything aches now. I am contemplating a run and swim later. I need to go food shopping and do some batch cooking so i have no excuse to be useless at this diet.

blessedenough · 25/05/2015 08:33

On the bootcamp thread there was discussion at cals and counting them. The general consensus was they dont matter carbs do.
I hope this is right!

I have dropped cream in coffee and instead i will have an afternoon BPC - this will give me more fat without carbs. I am going to try and up my fat and reduce my dairy. Worth a shot

ProfYaffle · 25/05/2015 08:47

Yyy to that 'I'm not as slim as I think I am' moment. I'm getting it a lot just now. fil said to me the other day "Yes, you're definitely looking - umm - slimmer", ie he feels he can't just say 'slim'.

Re calories, wherever you go there's always a debate in the low carb community about whether they matter or not. I don't think there's one right way, it's horses for courses. For me they do. I did bootcamp a few years ago but didn't lose anything because I was still overeating. Calorie counting is now something of a comfort blanket, it helps me feel confident that I'm not over doing it again.

I'm still dithering about the whole ff/if thing. I did 5:2 previously (told you I've tried everything!) but when I was eating high carb low fat and found it awful. I felt ill, hungry and shaky, even the day following a fast. Psychologically I'm afraid of doing that again, even though I know it's different on lchf. I think I'll weigh myself when we get home (still at pil at the moment) and if I haven't lost again this week I'll give a fast a go.

ProfYaffle · 25/05/2015 10:38

Thank fuck for low carbing! It's mash and salad day at mil's and I don't have to eat it! Grin

Macloveswill · 25/05/2015 11:54

Magic slimming mirrors we must all have Wink

So the consensus is to massively reduce dairy and up the fat.....with the option of counting cals too (unfortunately I'm too lazy to count Smile)

Chuckling at mash with salad Prof...reckon you've dodged a bullet there! Grin

Macloveswill · 25/05/2015 12:12

Just been foraging for food in our very sparse fridge. Now have a BPC, with cold chicken and baby chorizo for lunch. DH and DD are also raiding the cheese, but I have so far resisted ??

Giving up my strawbs and cream after dinner tonight will be torture though!

Macloveswill · 25/05/2015 14:54

OMG!! Just done Level 1 of the shred for the first time....bloody hell that was hard!

What weights does everyone use? I only have 1kg ones, but tbh on those side lunges I really don't think I could lift anything heavier - they were a killer! I had to kneel during push ups too, I don't think I've ever been able to do a proper push up though. Note to self...even when exercising in the house YOU NEED A SPORTS BRA!!

How long do you stay on level 1 for? Is it meant to be 10 days on each level?

And I just wish Natalie would stop showing off! Wink

ProfYaffle · 26/05/2015 07:02

Mil's mash and salad has passed into family lore. She somehow got the idea that at Xmas its 'traditional' to serve cold left over turkey with undressed salad and dry mash Confused We spent last Xmas there and had it for 3 days running, by the end I couldn't physically swallow it and could have cried when it was served up for the 3rd time.

This is the first time it's made an appearance outside the festive season so it took us by surprise. I couldn't stop giggling when I told dd1 what they were having and she was all Hmm at me. Hoorah for low carbing and my illicit full fat mayo stash!

Well done on shredding Mac - I've got a full on week of kettlebelling to make up for missing a session yesterday.

blessedenough · 26/05/2015 07:58

My fil does a similar xmas "feast" salad with leftover roasties sliced, leftover veg, gravy poured on top then masses of cheese and cooked in oven - its actually quite nice but very random with salad and cold meat - this only makes an appearence at xmas however.

Went to in Laws for lunch on sunday and was hoping for his amazing roast lunch - instead had salad, quiche, boiled pots, pot wedges and grated carrot. I dont eat quiche so i had salad leaves and ham - thats all i could eat and then even their mayo is the very low fat stuff - urrgghh. Could have wept when i realised there was no roast dinner. He had made 2 lovely puddings and i didnt eat either of them - he was very perplexed esp when i even turned down the offer of fruit for afters - i got the its only fruit and its healthy line. My In Laws cant get their head around LCHF - which is a shame as he suffers with diabetes and his weight.

Well done Mac on the shredding!! I only did it once. I am sick of hoovering around 13.8 and i need to break this barrier. So my plan is as follows

  1. Shred on days when i dont go to the gym
  2. Reduce or cut out dairy
  3. Portion sizes
  4. BPC in afternoon - if i am fuller i wont need so much dinner. more fat, less carbs.
  5. circuits and bodypump classes
  6. No wine!!

Mac 10 days on each level - i found day 3 the hardest and then magically after day 4 it gets easier. I cant do full push ups, never have been able to.

ProfYaffle · 26/05/2015 09:18

I ended up with a very similar meal blessed, sliced turkey and salad leaves. At least I had my life saver mayo sachets though. I also took a stash of pork scratchings, Chedds and Atkins bars. My inlaws also don't get LCHF at all, they question me a lot about vitamin C and cholesterol. All their veg and salad is totally undressed and unseasoned, they look all Confused if I put butter on veg.

I've also not really lost weight for the last couple of weeks, have stayed at 12st 4lbs. My plan is to cut the wine back again and dabble in a fast of some sort. I'd rather do the FF I think but am worried about overdoing the eggs and ending up hating them as they are a bit of a staple in my normal day to day eating.

ProfYaffle · 26/05/2015 09:19

Oh, and I meant to say blessed, your fil's Xmas feast sounds amazing!

LetMeBeLight · 26/05/2015 12:42

Afternoon all. What a lovely sunny day. We're going to have our first bbq of the year this evening. Have some smoked beef brisket, corn on the cob, asparagus and salad. Nom.

Well done on keeping strong while at the in laws prof and blessed. I'm feeling ever so grateful for my MIL's cooking after reading about the dry mash and salad! She's lovely and never questions any of my food choices - I never have dessert and no one bats an eyelid, and she'll do things like do extra spinach for me as she knows I adore it. I'm very lucky!

Well done on shredding Mac, I'm due another session later - it does get easier - promise! Yes you are supposed to do each level for 10 days I think, having never got past a few intermittent days

My 'dumbbells' are very light - 2.5lbs each. When I bought shred, I just went for the ones that most people bought together on that suggestions bit on amazon. They still get a bit of a burn from me, and I would hope after regular shredding I'll be able to move up to a heavier option. I'm not surprised you found 1kg difficult on the first go!!

Your plans sounds excellent blessed, if you can stick to that you won't just be SBC, you'll be ripped!

Macloveswill · 26/05/2015 14:00

Thanks for all the shred advice....I managed day 2 this morning. It is bloody tough throwing my bulk about at this size and even with a sports bra on, the jumping jacks (aka star jumps) and pretend rope jumps (aka skipping) feel like they're doing me some serious boobage damage Smile

Loving the weird In-law feasts....I would really struggle with both of those. Gravy or mash with salad....just no! Shock

Good forward thinking with the Mayo sachets prof! I hate that super low fat stuff too.

Your plan sounds similar to mine Blessed, but unfortunately mine still HAS to include wine (!) as I have a busy social couple of weeks coming up. Doing ok with laying off the dairy so far.

Enjoy your BBQ Letme, that sounds delish! You've got me fancying a bit of chargrilled meat now....might sort a Barbie for Friday.

ProfYaffle · 26/05/2015 15:32

Smoked beef brisket sounds lush, where do you get that from?

LetMeBeLight · 26/05/2015 21:03

It was lovely! From m&s's BBQ range. And even better, a lot of things were 2 for £7 or 3 for £10.

We absolutely exhausted m&s' BBQ range last year so was very pleased to see they've got lots of lovely new things. Bacon ribs, pork belly, slow cooked lamb with yogurt, spicy chicken wings etc etc. I shall look forward to trying them all.

Well done on day 2 Mac. I shredded pre BBQ so am now just lolling on the sofa.

Macloveswill · 27/05/2015 09:49

Ooh you've made me very hungry Letme....drooling!!

Well done on the shred, you'll have burned all the BBQ calories off! I've just done Day 3 shred and it's the hardest day so far....my muscles were all still aching from yesterday and I just felt really stiff. Hopefully it will get easier!

Onwards and downwards! SBC!!!

My nearest M&S is around 25 miles away - the joy of living in the sticks ....

Macloveswill · 28/05/2015 10:01

You must've put me in the BBQ spirit Letme....we ended up having an impromptu one yesterday afternoon after my DD's birthday party with a few pals we invited back after the party. I didn't manage to get to M&S for the food though! The prosecco made an appearance, as did cream on my strawbs (prosecco made me momentarily forget I was cutting out dairy, oops Smile) and it was a lovely afternoon in the sunshine. The unplanned events always seem to be the best don't they?!

Managed Day 4 of the shred this morning and tiny 0.2lb weightloss on the scales, so not a bad start to the day.

Sun is shining again and we have more half-term fun on the cards. Have a lovely day everyone!

Just done 30 DS - i hummed and haaaed all night but finally at 9.30 just bloody did it - now i am not tired! At this rate it will take 4 yrs to complete however!!

Food wise i have been good and i have been upping my fat by adding in another BPC. I keep forgetting i am not having dairy but only a small bit of cheese today. Drank loads of water - i had to pee more times than my heavily pregnant friend!!

Still no news on the house, the sellers of our new house are doing their bit very slowly and their agent keeps promising to keep us updated and doesnt aarrgghh!
