This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

Hi, wouldn't recommend paying extra for the sleep tracking, there is a Fitbit zip I think it's called which is cheaper, I never track my sleep, knowing how much you sleep doesn't tell you much, it seems a bit pointless. But do love my Fitbit and wouldn't want to be without it! Definitely walking more now and feeling better for it. You should try the turbo charge smoothie if you have the recipe, it has loads of fruit and veg in it, but makes you feel good and tastes great, must make some juice tomorrow, have a fridge full of apples etc and will never eat it all....off to make a packed lunch for tomorrow. Happy to eat soup or jacket spud but no access to a microwave tomorrow, I do find it hard not to be waylaid when it's cold and I am hungry, a salad doesn't do it in this weather.

Just did my first weigh in and I've lost 5lb!

Start weight 13st 6lb
Today's weight 13st 1lb
Weight loss this week 5lb
Total weight loss 5lb

Really pleased Smile

IceBeing · 15/01/2015 10:22

Gah! I went to the hospital yesterday and got my soft cast boot removed...so now I can't compare before and after weights. Ahh well I was 11 stone 8lbs this morning. I guess I will go from there.

In other good news the medication related nausea seems to be improving.

bakingtins · 15/01/2015 10:57

The other comment on Fitbit is don't get a wrist one if you spend a lot of time pushing a buggy as it won't count your steps properly, get one you can wear on your waistband or bra strap.

I weighed myself today and have lost a measly 0.5lb, which is a bit disappointing when I've stuck to my 1500 calories and 15000 steps. The additional Christmas poundage fell off pretty easily over the first 10 days or so until I got back to 9st8 which is where I've been stuck for months. I know I'm ok at this weight, I sneak into the top end of a healthy BMI, but dammit I want to be 9 stone! I think I need to resign myself to it being a long haul of tiny steps. Very tempted to do some mad diet for a week to lose the lot, but can't because I am BF DD.

I binged on shit today. ..what a fucking idiot

Marleyblaze · 15/01/2015 20:52

lego write it off and start again. We all have crap days, tomorrow is a fresh start, don't give yourself a hard time.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 16/01/2015 08:36

It's okay Lego you're changing lifetime habits, today is a new day Flowers

ButterflyOfFreedom · 17/01/2015 09:04

Lego I too caved yesterday and had about 10 chocolates from the tin of Roses we still have left from Christmas!!
Was annoyed with myself as I've been really good but just really fancied a sweet treat. I should have stopped after 1 or 2 but couldn't resist!
Ah well, it cured the craving and Im back to being good today - just will be lucky now to have lost any weight this week (will get on the scales on Monday...)

Playthegameout · 17/01/2015 10:35

Lost 1lb this week, so that's still good (Angry secretly a bit disappointed). Up side I have done 3 runs and a swim. Which probably doesn't sound like lots but is so much better than I used to be. Good long dog walk later and a run. Not too awful.

kiwikaterpillar · 17/01/2015 19:23

Any loss, however small, is good!

Sunday morning here so just weighed in. I've lost 1.3kg this week. Happy with that.
Have to say that MFP is certainly helping. Making much more considered choices- although I did have an ice cream yesterday! In my defence it was 31degrees and I'd gone for a run in the morning but I still didn't need it. Trying not to beat myself up over it or get too obsessive as other wise doubt I'll be able to stick to it long term.
I'm thinking about doing 5:2. Anyone else doing it or do you think that would be better for maintenance down the track?

ErmICantThinkOfAName · 17/01/2015 20:58

Weighed in yesterday and I've stayed the same. Could have been worse I suppose!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/01/2015 09:04

Official Monday morning weigh in!
11 stone 3
1st loss

Smile

Am pleased with that especially as I indulged in chocolates on Fri night & pizza last night! !
So any loss seems a bonus! !

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/01/2015 09:05

That's 1 lb loss not 1 stone loss obviously!!!

HowYaLikeThemApples · 19/01/2015 11:46

I know I'm a bit late but can I join in too?

Weight: 9st 11lbs on 1.1.15
Height: 5ft 2.5 inches tall (that 0.5 is VERY important!)
Age: 46
Aim: To lose weight, tone up (I feel squidgy) and improve general fitness

Anyway, I have just done Day 5 of the 30 day shred which is amazing for me as apart from walking the kids to school and doing stuff around the house I never exercise. I'm going to weigh myself on Friday mornings and I'd love to be able to report it somewhere and read other people's stories for inspiration.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 19/01/2015 11:48

Morning, I have been feeling really rough with morning sickness this week Envy

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/01/2015 07:43

Oh dear, I caved again last night! 10, yes 10, chocolates!!!! Shock

Feel a bit cap now Sad

youbethemummylion · 20/01/2015 07:48

Yay total weight loss since Jan 1st 9lb so now at 10st 2lb I'm desperate to be 9st something again hopefully will hit that milestone next Monday. I could murder a takeaway and bottle if cider though!

bakingtins · 21/01/2015 15:08

Well done to mummylion and havetea ! Hope your MS settles soon.

I have had a complete nightmare of a week, spent most of it in hospital with Dd who has been diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy Sad I have been literally sick with worry but what little I have eaten has been total crap from the hospital shop, not a vegetable in sight. I have no idea what that will do to the scales, could go either way, but I have bigger fish to fry...

bakingtins · 22/01/2015 15:52

4lb down, seems the hospital diet is effective. Don't recommend it though.

petalsandstars · 22/01/2015 18:39

Not much eaten today so far but night shift tonight so taking lots of fruit for snacking cravings.

HowYaLikeThemApples · 23/01/2015 14:26

I finished Day 9 of the 30 day shred and weighed myself this morning. I'm 9st 5lbs, so that's 6lbs since 1st January. I'm chuffed to bits. Not sure I'm ready for Level 2 of The Shred tomorrow, I'll see how I feel in the morning I think!

youbethemummylion · 23/01/2015 14:50

Level 2 of the shred involves coordination beyond my abilities Grin

ErmICantThinkOfAName · 23/01/2015 17:37

Weighed myself this morning.

12st 3lb.

Total weight loss so far is 3lb but considering how badly this year has started it could be worse. I'm going to up my game this week and see if I can hit 12 stones by the end of the month.

This thread seems to have gone a bit quiet recently. Where is everyone?

ButterflyOfFreedom · 24/01/2015 01:37

I was thinking it had all gone quiet too?!
I weigh myself on a Monday morning so nothing much to report until then.
Am trying to eat healthily and am doing ok, it's just the lack of exercise letting me down I think. ..

petalsandstars · 24/01/2015 02:28

I sooo need to find time to exercise - but end up being passing ships with DH and really struggle to find the motivation to do dvds in the evening
