2015 Mumsnet Weightloss Club anyone?

This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

lucylou do you mind saying how many calories you are allowing yourself? I'm breastfeeding and just started MFP and it is saying 1200 calories which just doesn't feel enough. I'm feeding a 7m old who has one bottle of formula a day and some solids, so I'm thinking

bakingtins · 05/01/2015 20:34

lego what did you do to your toe? Ouch! Flowers

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/01/2015 20:53

Thank you for the sympathy!

I ran to answer the door at work and ran it into the sticky out corner of the wall...I was in socks (am a nanny, I don't just have a dress down workplace Wink...it was folded under itself and I had to pull it and straighten it and if ripped half my nail off

I cried over it, almost vomited then composed myself, stood up and kicked the babies walker with it...not good!

On the plus side, I've eaten 3 proper meals

Breakfast: tea, porridge, banana and a mini croissant (I know I know! But I ate porridge at work and grabbed the croissant on the way out the door to work)

Lunch: tuna salad with about 12 pieces of whole meal pasta and low fat garlic dip, cucumber and fruit salad

Dinner: pork biriyani and a cadburys pot of joy

I know it doesn't sound healthy but I generally eat nothing until 1pm, eat a massive lunch at the speed of light, a big dinner at 9pm then graze...so I'm pleased I've fitted in 3 meals!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 05/01/2015 21:04

Ouch lego - maybe it'll make hobbling to the fridge harder Wink

I had a pretty good day, except I was starving and ended up having two lunches Blush

My body doesn't know what's hit it, adjusted my dinner though so still within calorie limit for today - phew.

5/1 starting weight: 10 stone 3

postmanpatsnewyearresolution · 05/01/2015 21:14

I ended up having a fast day today after I found I had gained 1.3kg between Friday morning and this morning! Giving my system a break today is just the kick-start I needed.

Well done losers and healthy eaters!

lucylou1977 · 06/01/2015 06:23

bakingtins I'm allowing myself 2,000 calories a day and I might even up that depending on how I get on in the next couple of weeks. Sounds a lot but when I last did myfitnesspal pal (pre-preg) I consistently lost around a pound a week on 1,700 calories a day (although admittedly I wasn't eating exercise calories on top of that and I was running twice a week and walking regularly too).

IceBeing · 06/01/2015 10:42

Really struggling with the nausea....I know I good sugar rush will fix it...but then I will continue to put on weight!

I honestly don't know what to do. Maybe I should give up on weight loss until I am off my medication (whenever that will be!)...

Well done to everyone getting properly stuck into this!

Dawnywoo · 06/01/2015 11:45

Icebeing Ask the doctor for anti sickness tablets to take alongside. I used to take them with some very high dose anti inflamatories. May be reasons why you can't but it can't harm to ask. It's horrible feeling nauseous all the time x

Cakeismymaster · 06/01/2015 11:55

Hello people I am joining!

5ft 6 starting weight 10 st 7, goal is 9 St
Using my own version of LC/fasting type thing
0.8 kilos down since yesterday morning (I know all water lol)

IceBeing · 06/01/2015 12:19

dawny I like the idea...but I tried almost every anti-nausea going when I had hyperemesis and none of them did anything useful.

I would try increasing my exercise except I am currently in a cast and not allowed to walk let alone anything else.

youbethemummylion · 06/01/2015 18:39

On day 2 of my 2 day fasting period and really really hungry, I swear if DH (who is only joining in to support me) makes and suggested amendments to tea I will jump at it anything from shall we have a jacket potato with this to shall we just get an Indian will be taken up because I'm so hungry I feel like saying sod it I'll just be fat!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 06/01/2015 20:26

Well day two of my diet and I've only gone and got a BFP! Over the moon but also terrified at being pregnant and so fat Sad

Will still be tracking and exercising but will just have to up my calorie count. I was so sick with DS that I actually lost weight - hope that happens again Smile

Just waiting on DH getting home from work so I can tell him!

Is this 5:2 youbemummy ? I thought you weren't supposed to fast consecutive days?

bakingtins · 06/01/2015 20:28

Wow havetea congratulations! Smile

Rinkydinkypink · 06/01/2015 20:41

I think your all doing an amazing job! Well done to each and every one if you. The motivation alone is great step forward.

Congratulations on the BPF!! Amazing news.

youbethemummylion · 06/01/2015 20:42

Its the 2 day diet which is the original 5:2 diet I think, it allows up to 1000 calories per day on a fasting day but absolutely 0 carbs. It says in the book consecutive days is best. Its the no carbs which I making me hungry I think. I've had homemade turkey burgers with salad and some bacon and I feel better now. I've never looked forward to a Ryvita (which I'm having for lunch tomorrow) this much in my life!

youbethemummylion · 06/01/2015 20:43

Wow congrats havetea that's wonderful news.

lk26 · 06/01/2015 21:09

A diet baby ! Congrats havetea.
Another day over and a massive 95 calories left on mfp. Oh what should I have.
Did spinning tonight so that burnt some calories.
Determined to buy some nice skinny jeans by my birthday in June. Preferably a size 12. ??

petalsandstars · 06/01/2015 21:28

Woop woop congratulations on the bfp

bakingtins · 06/01/2015 21:28

It's day 6 of tracking everything on MFP and I'm finding it really interesting. I'm not having any problem keeping meals within the calories (allowing a fairly generous 15-1600 as I'm breastfeeding) but am horrified how the snacks I would normally eat without thinking would have pushed me over the limit. I have a weakness for swizzles drumstick lollies - the tiny penny chew size ones - and I'd eat 4 or 5 of those. 345 cals! I also am still over each day on sugar (allowance is 50g) just from milk, a piece of fruit and the small amounts in my meals, with no added sugar in anything and no processed food.

postmanpatsnewyearresolution · 06/01/2015 22:29

Congrats havetea! I love it that you told the whole of Mumsnet before you told your DH!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 06/01/2015 22:44

I know Blush needed to tell someone it was such a shock and wanted to tell him in person.

Still haven't told him actually, poor love was knackered and starving when he got in about 20mins ago so letting him get something to eat first.
