2015 Mumsnet Weightloss Club anyone?

This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

Baking yes I was just wondered if I could be more chuffed Grin

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 09/01/2015 08:59

I would kill someone for a Big Mac....not the chips...just a big mac

I've been able to stick to my suggested calories on MFP which I'm ridiculously proud of! Struggling to get in exercise due to working hours but I'll figure it out!

I'm deciding which day is best for weigh in day...I'd like to be able to have a small treat on weigh in day so a weekend day is probably best...I think!

But god, I'd love a Big Mac!!

headoverheels · 09/01/2015 14:29

Hi all, can I join you? Starting my new year's resolution a bit late!

I'm 40 with 3 DC. I went back to work 4 months ago, after several years as a SAHM, and I've put on weight since then. I tend to "reward" myself with food and tell myself I "deserve" it after a busy day, even though I know that's rubbish!

I'm 5'8" and was 13st 5lb last time I weighed myself (will be more now, as that was before Xmas).

I'll weigh in properly tomorrow morning. I'll be doing the Harcombe diet (avoiding processed food and not mixing carbs and proteins), but it's the emotional eating I really need to tackle.

youbethemummylion I always weigh more when my period is due - presumably because of retained water.

MsRainbow · 09/01/2015 15:15

Well yesterday was my weigh in day and I lost 4lbs in the first week (now 14.8). It went well until Tuesday night when I had a PMT meltdown and HAD to have chocolate. I didn't have a great day yesterday as was at a tea party all afternoon full of homemade goodies but I'm back on track today. The key for me is going to be getting back on track after a blip.

ErmICantThinkOfAName · 09/01/2015 17:08

Weigh in day today!

1st January - 12st 6lb
9th January - 12st 4.4lb

Only a small loss but after the last few crappy days I'm happy with any loss at all!

MummyLion I retain a lot of water and become very bloated for a couple of days before my period and about the first three days that I'm on. My tummy is even more huge at the moment! When I was doing Slimming World my losses were tiny or non-existent on weeks when I had my period however well I'd followed the diet but then I'd normally see a larger than usual loss the week after. A lot of women in my group seemed to experience the same thing.

Wimped out of going to the gym today. I am in pain and bleeding very slightly out of it on Tramadol and I just couldn't face it. Walked outdoors for an hour delivering leaflets for work earlier though so I suppose some exercise is better than none.

I also haven't eaten very well today. Someone brought home made cookies into the office and I gave into temptation Blush and then I had a lunch meeting where the only food available was white bread baguettes and crisps. I had a 6 inch baguette with butter, ham and salad plus a small packet of kettle chips. I've managed to drink 1.5 litres of water though so far today so that is one thing I suppose.

Onwards and upwards!

bakingtins · 09/01/2015 18:24

lego surely you can have a big mac if you really want one, as long as you can adjust your MFP calories to suit? I don't know what total you are aiming for, a big mac (burger only) is about 500 cals.

I had www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7712/superhealthy-salmon-burgers for tea and it was so yummy I thought I'd share, only 300cals, plus rice.

lk26 · 09/01/2015 20:07

Nipped on the scales and have lost 3 lbs since Monday. Pleased with that. Had an assessment at the gym today and their scales show me 1/2 st lighter !!!

headoverheels · 10/01/2015 07:59

Weighed in this morning as promised - 13st 6lb, which is actually not quite as bad as I was expecting.

My plan is to 'be good' this weekend (I really need to get out of the habit of constant grazing / snacking) and then start properly on Monday.

Sirzy · 10/01/2015 08:01

2lb off. :)

headoverheels · 10/01/2015 08:02

Thanks for the link bakingtins, those salmon burgers look delicious!

Playthegameout · 10/01/2015 12:15

Weigh in day today: Saturday 3rd Jan 12st4
Saturday 10th Jan 11st 12 !

So happy with that. It's the first week so I knew it would be a good drop. Should even out now to about 2lb per week. Really chuffed with myself, and now have the incentive to keep running Grin

Rainicorn · 10/01/2015 12:31

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining. I'm in the WW thread but that's slow and I need somewhere to chat with likeminded folk.

I've been doing WW since Monday, 5 January and I weight 17st 8lb. I have been yoyo dieting for years now,,always manage to lose a good two stone then get stressed and eat. I'm an emotional eater, my hips don't lie.

Now I definitely need to lose weight as I have to have surgery but the consultant won't do it unless I've lost weight. I have an appointment in May, so fingers crossed for as much weight.

I have took up swimming, it was really enjoyable to do something myself without the DC and I am hopng to do it every week.

Rupeomatic · 10/01/2015 15:05

2lbs off Smile

Happy with that, as there was a lot of Christmassy/new year food hanging around at the start of the week - and I haven't found it particularly easy.

Onwards and upwards.

QueenFuri · 10/01/2015 16:30

Can I join? I lose 38lbs last summer and I think I have put it all back on plus more due to lots of health scares in my family. I'm giving it another go starting Monday, I weighed myself today and I have put on almost 2 stone back on I'm 20st exactly and need to be 13stone which is what I was when I fell pregnant with DC1 10 years ago!! I have a holiday in July and realistically want to lose 4 stone for them hopefully!

bakingtins · 10/01/2015 19:04

I thought you might be interested to know there's a 3 part documentary on selecting a diet this week Horizon - what's the right diet for you? Mon-Wed 9pm BBC2. Setting the Vbox as we speak...

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 10/01/2015 20:31

Oh god, hideous food day today!

Travelled to best friends for her DS birthday party...it's two hours each way so I snacked on the train....a sandwich there and crisps/KitKT on the way back...then tgi Fridays for lunch and birthday cake.

Ok, not hideous but not careful iygwim

lk26 · 10/01/2015 21:10

Let's all just get back on it tomorrow. Healthy eating and move about !
I just need to listen to what I say to others and put it into action.
Alarm set for 7 am for the gym tomorrow. !!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 10/01/2015 21:11

It's only one day Lego - hard bit is not to go, oh well that's the weekend ruined and go to town tomorrow... I have form for that Blush.

Some great losses here for week 1, well done I have weighed myself but i'm not declaring until official weigh in day on Monday.

lucylou1977 · 11/01/2015 18:12

Sounds like everyone's doing well - some great losses!

Well, I was doing okay until Friday, then weekend mentality kicked in! I guess I've not eaten too badly but we've had family visiting so I made cheesecake yesterday then today we went out for Sunday lunch and I had Brownie for dessert. Oops!

Rainicorn · 11/01/2015 20:52

I hate weekends. They are always so hard.

Was amazingly good yesterday though.

Marleyblaze · 11/01/2015 21:01

Hi, would like to join in, hopefully this time I will succeed! Am trying ww and have done ok today, planned next week and made some soup, now I just need to stick to it. Am in total awe of all of you who manage to lose weight and keep motivated, I usually lose interest way before any noticeable differences. Really want to make it happen this time as have my 40th coming up and want to be a healthy weight, wish me luck!

lisbapalea · 11/01/2015 22:29

Evening everyone! Looks like there's some great losses around.

I am very nervous for tomorrow's weigh in. I think I have been pretty good this week but it was a family birthday lunch and tea today so despite being healthy for breakfast and my main meal I had a very lardy pudding (Jamie Oliver's chocolate orange panettone tart, to use up a panettone we got for Christmas - AMAZING!), and a slice of birthday cake later this afternoon. Oops!

Hopefully some magic will happen overnight and I will see a loss. I was 14st exactly last Monday and am hoping for at least 2lb off, despite today's misdemeanours...

Good luck to all other Monday weigh-ers!

youbethemummylion · 12/01/2015 06:50

3lb off this week I had hoped for more as I've been very strict but my BMI is back in the healthy range rather than overweight so that's something I suppose.

kiwikaterpillar · 12/01/2015 07:06

I lost 1.3kg.. Very happy about that. I've also started running which is hard work but gives this best buzz. At the weekend I went for a long walk with DD in a backpack, she weighs 10kg and I was amazed at how much more effort it was carrying her. It was quite motivating for me to realise that is how much I want to lose and how much easier things will be when I'm not lugging it around!
