2015 Mumsnet Weightloss Club anyone?

This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

Huge congratulations to you havetea fabulous news!!

Tortoise · 07/01/2015 06:58

Congratulations Havetea.

I was rubbish yesterday! Start afresh today ! Still need to drag out the scales.

Valsoldknickers · 07/01/2015 08:16

Congratulations Havetea

Just started on Mon 5th, got a big delivery of groceries minus rubbish (a teeny bit of alcohol for the weekend thrown in though). Doing my own home version of SW. Worked for me in the past so hoping to get decent results again.

Good luck everyone!!

nicl03 · 07/01/2015 08:25

Hi Could I join please? I am on another thread but this is more active.
I am 33 with 3 children (10,7,4) married and to be honest the weight has been going up and down for the past 3 years but I really want to do something about it in 2015 Im 5"1 and 10stone 6 I look a lot bigger I think it because I'm short.

ItsaTenfromDen · 07/01/2015 10:29

Morning all, day 7 and still going well here

I weighed myself on the 29th Dec at 12.12 and this morning I thought I'd check and was surprised to see 12.6, so something's working

Good luck

lk26 · 07/01/2015 11:39

Had scrambled egg for breakfast and done plenty of walking this morning. Now back home and madly de cluttering. Hate all this stuff. And with 3 teenagers and a toddler in the house we have soo much. Hoping there is a Link between de cluttering and losing weight !
Soup for lunch and fruit.
Spinning and grit abs tonight. Ouch

ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/01/2015 12:51

Still behaving here too! I even kindly declined the free biscuit that was offered at playgroup this morning! (though was tempted!!).

Bran flakes & orange juice for breakfast;
Soup, yogurt & a cuppa for lunch

Think dinner will be pork chop, mash, cabbage & carrots with gravy...

ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/01/2015 12:53

PS. Congrats Havetea!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 07/01/2015 15:49

Thanks all, still very early days. Going to concentrate more on getting some fitness and eating healthy food, have upped calorie count in mfp to be targeting 1lb a week which is lots of food if I stick to healthy snacks so fingers crossed I can lose a bit at the start anyway.

youbethemummylion · 07/01/2015 16:00

I am sticking to the 2 day diet but I feel like I'm eating far too much food! I know I had a wibble yesterday on my second fasting day but I didn't crack today I have had a banana for breakfast, homemade mackerel pate, 2 Ryvita, small salad and a few grapes and I'm absolutely stuffed! I'm thinking about cutting out the Jacket Potatoes I was going to have with my veggie curry as I don't feel I need them which is not like me I always need food, especially carbs!!!

PartyFops · 07/01/2015 18:38

Congrats Havetea! Grin

I'm really struggling today. Weigh in is tomorrow as I started on the first, so far it's 5lb loss so we'll see if it's different in the morning .

I have been doing fit bit 10,000 steps and c25k (end of week 2). And keeping to below 1500 calories. But I'm exhausted and feel so depleted Sad. I have eaten well enough, I think I just need to get used to the extra exercise.

Today I had All Bran Flakes for brekkie
Jacket potato with philli and ham for lunch
Turkey curry with rice and veg for tea.

I could eat a horse!! And sleep for a week!

I think I need to give myself a goal, maybe if I can stick to it until Saturday we can have a day off?

Anyone else feeling like this?

lucylou1977 · 07/01/2015 19:29

Sport to hear you're struggling PartyFops. I think with any new exercise it does take your body a while to adjust - stick with it and it'll get easier. Some people can handle having a day off the diet (a 'treat day') but others find it can de-rail them. Why not plan a non-food-based treat for when you reach your next mini goal (e.g. when you lose 10 lbs) like a trip to the hairdresser or some new make-up?

lk26 · 07/01/2015 21:53

Partyfops. 5 lbs off sounds fab to me. Maybe you are just on a come down after Xmas ?
On my weigh in day I always have a few treats then get straight back on track ( in theory anyway. )

PartyFops · 07/01/2015 22:12

Thank you, my muscles in my legs and arse are killing which doesn't help.

I've had a nice hot bath and will be in the land of slumber soon.

I had a little bit of dd's Xmas chocolate, which has made me feel guilty enough to give me the kick I need for tomorrow. Grin

Tortoise · 07/01/2015 22:52

Not the best day again but I think I'm pre-menstrual going by the migraine I've had all day.
Still forgot to weigh in! I'm useless lol.

ErmICantThinkOfAName · 08/01/2015 04:36

Congratulations HaveTea.

Really bad few days here. A work situation has turned really stressful and I am having to travel by bus between several different sites to support them all. I am therefore working 14 hour days and eating nothing but crap.

I can't get to the gym as I am working every hour that it is open and even if I could I'm so tired from being awake most of the night worrying that I don't think I'd have the energy for a workout.

Feel like giving up right now and I'm scared to weigh-in on Friday because I know I'm going to have gained.

postmanpatsnewyearresolution · 08/01/2015 08:15

erm you can't change the hours, the travelling or the inability to get to the gym, but you can change what you put in your mouth. The situation will only derail you if you allow it to.

DP is away and I'm not sleeping well at all so in a state of permanent exhaustion. I'm eating well and a sneaky weigh in this morning was positive so it's not all bad. Going to the gym tonight after DD's parents' evening so hope I have enough energy for that. It would probably help if I hadn't left my lunch at home in the fridge!

lk26 · 08/01/2015 10:33

erm could you take healthy food with you do you don't have to chose crisp food. Easier said than done but small steps. Could you track your steps and do your 10 k a day instead of exercise. Try the 7 min workout if you have time or energy. Short hard bursts of exercise are the new thing.
Chin up. Flowers

Playthegameout · 08/01/2015 17:38

Late to the party but could I join too? I'm 32 5'5, weigh 12st2lbs, size 16 and very weak willed. But I'm sick of being like this so I've tried to give myself a good shake and I'm back on mfp. Walking, swimming doing c25k. Started on Saturday so not long in. I am hopeless usually but my mum is overweight, suffering from diabetes and has trouble with her knees and back which are attributed to her weight, that's really focused me and I feel determined, just hope I can keep it up.

petalsandstars · 08/01/2015 19:46

Dinner at my mums today so not particularly healthy - but I've only snacked on fruit today so feel good with that. Tempted by a half week weigh but trying to wait till Mon

Wannabechic1 · 08/01/2015 20:19

Hi All, and congrats HaveTea.
New to MN, Mind if I join late too?

Im 32, 3dc ( ds 6, dd2, ds 4months.)
height 5'8 or 173cm and weight around 106kg or 17st! (size 16 but cant do pants up as apple shape)
I would like to start tomorrow as I think if I can get through the weekend, then I can get through anything.

Will be using Eat to Live concept (plant based plan where you stuff yourself with as much greens as possible)

Will take some before pics and measurements in workout gear tonight for progress checks.

PartyFops · 08/01/2015 21:31

Well I kind of got back on it today. I did a whole hour fast walk on the tread mill so a total of about 13,000 steps for the day and will be about 2,700 calories burnt in total.

Did some stretching so legs and arse so much better.

Food, OK, toast for brekkie, soup and a little bit of bread and a lamb tagine, home made, minimal fat for dinner. But add to that half a little box of tic tacs (50 calories) and 3 small pieces of fudge from the Xmas box Blush.

But I think overall I am doing ok. Will do next day of c25k tomorrow.

ErmICantThinkOfAName · 08/01/2015 21:56

Bit better today. Managed to sneak in 45 minutes at the gym and had chicken and veg stir fry with noodles for dinner with an apple afterwards.

Will weigh in tomorrow but also got my period this morning so I know I will be a couple of lbs over where I would be otherwise.

youbethemummylion · 08/01/2015 22:16

ErmI does being on your period affect your weight? Just curious as weighed this morning and lost 5lb since Jan 1st but my period started today as well so should I be extra chuffed with my 5lb loss?

bakingtins · 08/01/2015 22:46

mummylion weren't you chuffed with 5lb anyway??

Weighed in today at 9st8.5 which is 2.5lb off. Chuffed to bits with that Wink though I know it won't keep coming off at that rate. I've done at least 15k steps every day and stuck to my 1500 cals on MFP.
Slightly miserable at the prospect of a weekend with no wine ( dry January) but it's probably good for me in several ways, not least in saving some empty calories.
