dukan diet diary

Hi Ladies, I'm new here on the board but have been reading for a while now..

To make a long story short I'm going through a really hard time right now, dealing with separation.. 7-yr relationship and a 4-yr daughter. We moved to London last year from abroad so my social network isn't very large, to say the least. (n.b: I do love London though and planning to stay.) This is just a bit of background info to help you understand.

The reason I'm actually on the board is because I'm starting a diet. I'm unhappy with my looks and none of my clothes fit me, and my budget definitely doesn't allow for a wardrobe overhaul. So I'll use this thread as a diet diary and hope to get some encouragement and perhaps advice from you.

I've chosen the Dukan diet mydukandiet.com/dieting/. I'm at 69kg now and would like to get to 59kg, which is my pre-pregnancy weight (sorry can't get my head around stones and pounds yet). I actually dropped close to 60 kg when breastfeeding but have gained way too much weight since.

This is the plan:
5-day Attack phase starting tomorrow. (I've actually started 'light' today, just to prepare my body for it, so not eating pasta and breads and sugars today)
Cruise phase - the online Dukan calculator says that by the 9th of November I should get to 59kg, so I should lost 10kg in just a but over 2 months.
Consolidation - that's supposed to last 100days or so, after Cruise.

Thanks for having the patience to read so far. Hoping to hear from you along the way and if anyone wants to join in and diet, I'd be thrilled :)

Well I am on day 4 and 2kg lighter! When I think about how long that took on Weight Watchers, I want to laugh!

Ladies who have been doing this longer - how quickly does the weight loss slow down by when you finish attack? And what has been your average weight loss on consolidation?

Now I keep reading that this diet might make it a bit difficult for you to, ahem, 'go', but I seem to be the opposite of that? Blush Anyone else have this? I am wondering if it is the cottage cheese?

Well done MyMama. Mmm, I've had many an emergency loo dash since starting Dukan - a bit of the opposite would be ok by me Grin

It slows right down in cruise but I still lost 2 stone in 2 months . I'm on consolidation now and it's harder to keep at it . Have maintained my weight thoughSmile

It's a good diet. I came up with my own Dukan rhythm now :)

PP/PV Breakfast is always 0% fat yoghurt & oat bran, plus a coffee with just a bit of skimmed milk. Sometimes I add a spoon of cottage cheese or fromage frais into the mix.

PP Lunch is eggs and salmon/low fat cooked ham/bresaola (this is a new discovery, air-dried beef). Coffee with some skimmed milk.
PP Evening - cooked beef/chicken/turkey/fish/seafood with cottage cheese. when I don't have time to cook I eat canned sardines or kipper (in water or brine). Fennel or camomile tea every evening.

The PV lunches and dinners are much more varied, I eat much less protein and more vegetables (read huge salads), no dairy and no eggs. I also tend to use more herbs, spices, and onions than before. And made some of the Dukan sauces and salad dressings.

I'm not normally snacking outside of these main meals but if I feel hungry on PP days I'd eat some yoghurt or cottage cheese.

Last but not least I'm already under 63kg! :) and hope to be at 62kg by Fri when it's my next weigh-in date. Textbook case, 2lb/week in cruise.

@bishboschone: great, keep us posted on this phase.. I'm so curious how it works.

Oh I forgot something, is anyone taking vitamins? I've started taking D and B vits. Not sure if they're necessary but I always take them in autumn and winter...

And the other question was hair-related, I find my hair very oily since I started Dukan. Skin looks fine but I need to wash my hair more often, otherwise it gets really greasy-looking. I read online that some ppl on Dukan experience hair loss and brittle nails, but I have oily hair?!

Nuks -so organised. Love it and well done on the weight loss.
You have probably mentioned but remind me what your target weight is?

I've started at 68-69kg (when I saw 69 the scale I said to myself that's it, there is no way I'm going over 70 - that was my diet-trigger LOL). My true weight according to the calculator is 59 but I'd like to go lower than that, as it's too close to 60 and I need some buffer to make sure I stay under 60.

Thanks.. organized but cheating with apples and wine :-) Had a glass of red a couple of hours ago with colleagues from work. And an apple just now, not sure why I'm so tempted by apples (thanks God they are a low carb/sugar fruit apparently).

Coming to the forum helps, I feel guilty now. Tomorrow is the weekly weigh-in day (and PP). Interestingly enough I've only cheated on PV days so far. In PP days I don't feel like eating.

How's everyone else doing, I feel like I'm the only one cheating constantly?!

I've not cheated yet nuks, but I'm only a week and a half in, so there's time yet Wink

We've been invited to PiLs for Sunday lunch, so that will be my first real challenge.

I think someone asked how consolidation is so i will give a little update . I have been scared to eat anything too lairy because I'm enjoying being thin but .... Last weekend I went out and had about 4 glasses of rose and an Indian for dinner . Back onto pv on Sunday and had a pp day Monday . Have stuck to pv all week but have had about 3/4 mini chocolates and a Couple of biscuits . No celebration meals as I figured the Blow out last week was a lot . I weighed in today ( period due ) and I have lost another pound ! Not quite sure how That works but I'm pleased . I walk a lot .4 x school run walks a day which is approx 5 miles pushing a buggy so this could help but no other exercise for a while . Happy days Smile

@Mrsfluff: best of luck! You can do it.. I went to Macmillan's world's largest coffee morning today, a room full of cake, didn't touch any, got a coffee, donated, and ran away :)
@bishboschone: that's great! so you're a happy 9 stone girl now! congrats!

I'm 62.6kg this morning, not much lost as compared to last Friday when I was at 63kg. Must be the wine, Anyways I'm still very happy overall and plan to continue cruising until the end of October to get to 68ish, then switch to consolidation. I'm afraid of Christmas this year though :)

Don't be afraid of Christmas because I definitely cannot eat as much as I could , also you do think twice about eating that cake or whatever. Have Xmas day as your celebration meal then just eat meat and veg on Boxing Day or vice versa .

I just want to be slim again!! To wear skinny jeans! And to still be able to eat cake!! Sigh - life is just so unfair! ;)

I haven't cheated, and really don't plan on it during attack, but yesterday my weight stayed the same! So disappointing when I am working so hard at this! However, stepped on the scale this morning and I'm another half a kg down, so getting there. I know once I am on cruise I am really going to have to manage my expectations, but I am loving seeing the weight drop off. Once the attack phase is over, I'll up my activity. Only doing 30 min walk (to childminder and station) at the moment, but really don't have the energy for anything more!

Nuks - really impressed with your weight loss so far - 5/6kg is amazing!! And well done for not eating cake!!

Bish - that is inspiring - gives me hope that I can have a cheeky something every now and again once I get to that stage!

Just popping in for Friday night catch up. Cuppa in hand (normally wineBlush)
I have had one cheat -half a wrap at a lunch I was at, otherwise think I've been pretty good.
I only weigh in weekly, daily could flucuate too much for my liking.
I need to get exercise going but finding time to date has been hard. My job is active so that helps.

I've found I'm starting to fit into the skinny side of my wardrobe (not all of it) but it helps with the motivation.
Not feeling any inclination to eat sweets or treats, it's great.

If anyone is interested I had a celebration day on Saturday . Chocolate and all sorts . Back to pv today , doesn't seem to have made a difference to my weight this morning . Hope you are all doing ok Smile

I'm depressed! Not sure if it's my period or not (last day of it today), but I'm over 63kg again (was 62.2 last Fri). I haven't cheated at all since Thu and I don't think I'm eating too much. In fact I'm eating less and less, especially onPP days. In theory I should get to 61kg by Friday but I'm back at 63kg again? :(

I was thinking about doing two PP days in a row to kickstart things again. Any other ideas, what could it be?

Yes , do a few days of pp .. My weight went up and then down again sometimes a few pounds .. Don't give up!! I'm still losing on consolidation . Smile

Thanks, I'm not giving up! This is is the best thing I've done for myself lately.. I have a full list of to do's for myself, I've been neglecting my own life for so long. I will definitely not abandon this diet, it's worked so well and it isn't that hard to follow.

Anyways, I'm back to 62.1kg this morning so here's hoping for 61-ish by Friday.

Hello ladies - you guys are so inspirational I wanna join you please? Today is my first day, weight 165.4lb this morning, it was 140 at the beginning of the year. Sad

So I have at least 26 pounds to lose to fit back into my clothes and 40 pounds to reach my dukan weight.

I am so excited that I can have tea and coffee with (skimmed) milk and diet coke too. No more atkins tea with cream, yuk! Also sugar free squash, I can drink gallons in a day. After lighter life and atkins this actually looks less restrictive. Yay!

B 0% Greek Yoghurt

L 2 skinless chicken breasts - hot from the oven, yum!

D Smoked mackrel, oatbran and strawberry muller light (no more of them, just using up leftovers)

Snacks Lots of crab sticks, still not sure about the taste but love 'unwrapping' the meat slowly as I eat them.
