dukan diet diary

Hi Ladies, I'm new here on the board but have been reading for a while now..

To make a long story short I'm going through a really hard time right now, dealing with separation.. 7-yr relationship and a 4-yr daughter. We moved to London last year from abroad so my social network isn't very large, to say the least. (n.b: I do love London though and planning to stay.) This is just a bit of background info to help you understand.

The reason I'm actually on the board is because I'm starting a diet. I'm unhappy with my looks and none of my clothes fit me, and my budget definitely doesn't allow for a wardrobe overhaul. So I'll use this thread as a diet diary and hope to get some encouragement and perhaps advice from you.

I've chosen the Dukan diet mydukandiet.com/dieting/. I'm at 69kg now and would like to get to 59kg, which is my pre-pregnancy weight (sorry can't get my head around stones and pounds yet). I actually dropped close to 60 kg when breastfeeding but have gained way too much weight since.

This is the plan:
5-day Attack phase starting tomorrow. (I've actually started 'light' today, just to prepare my body for it, so not eating pasta and breads and sugars today)
Cruise phase - the online Dukan calculator says that by the 9th of November I should get to 59kg, so I should lost 10kg in just a but over 2 months.
Consolidation - that's supposed to last 100days or so, after Cruise.

Thanks for having the patience to read so far. Hoping to hear from you along the way and if anyone wants to join in and diet, I'd be thrilled :)

welcome, twittertotter! I believe gammon is not on the protein/attack & cruise lists as it's pork?

it's everyone's thread, I just happen to start it!

another question re yoghurt, I can't seem to find 0%, at tesco, only low fat which is under 5% but not 0%? i've always had the full fat version so not even sure where to look.

I have activia 0 % yoghurts . I but the multi packs of vanilla and fruit and have at least two a day ... I shop in tesco but I've seen them in other shops .HTH

DH gets the 500g or 1kg pots of plain 0% yoghurt.

twittertotter · 03/09/2012 19:35

I get the total 0% for my galettes. They are actually a lot tastier than I expected and do seem to make me feel full for ages!

nuks I know gammon is a fail but it needed to be eaten and it was that it left over lasagne so the lesser of two evils! Smile

My weakness is wine! I can manage school nights but come Friday night I am just waiting for both kids to be in bed so I grab a bucket small glass. I know I can't have it but that doesn't make it any easierSad

BTW, DH is 4 months in and he still lost 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks recently. Grin

Hello! I was on the old thread and started Dukan at 12.6lb and went down to 10.10lb. I am 5 8 and if I go lower I have to give up my bust! It's a good weight for me.
Have crept up over the summer and am now 11.4lb. Still ok but I am keen to get back to 10.10. 9lb to shift. Was at the Olympics all weekend and ate junk. Felt so bloated yesterday but better today, even after 1 day attack!
Am on cruise with a few cheats. Aim to loose 1-2lb a week. Find attack days awful so I am doing 100% cruise and basically changing how I eat. It will be slower though! No booze until I start with a 10 and then only a weak gin and slim!

@twittertotter: oat bran galettes are a good find :)

I made a couple of them and ate them with smoked salmon. My daughter tried one of them and ate it all so I guess we have a new addition to the breakfast menu, they're so easy to make.

Re wine I believe the book says it's not recommended only because it might take you offtrack, not because of other reasons. I'm not planning on giving up wine as I drink once or twice a month so it's a non-issue.

On a different note, I'm curious when people will start noticing the weight loss. I haven't told anyone but my close friends and my mum (and they all live abroad).

I found the 0% yoghurt at tesco, it's the yeo valley 1kg that i'll be going for, I normally have the full fat version.

Last but not least I love the numbers on the scale, every morning I wake up and expect not to see any change but it's there! It's day 4 of the attack phase and I'm shocked!! I'm actually planning on extending to 6 days, instead of the original 5, so on Friday I can add some veggies I guess. I can't wait for that, so that I can be a bit more creative with food.

I should have tried this thing right after I stopped breastfeeding 3 years ago.

How's everyone doing?

Hello all,

End of second day and actually not feeling too bad. Surprised myself when I weighed in this morning to find that I had lost 2lb! I know this is all water, but it still made me smile when I looked at the scales Grin

I was at the Olympic Park today, but went prepared with chicken slices and lean ham for lunch (I know ham is not really allowed because of salt and fat, but I am hoping that lean is ok) and I avoided ice cream (actually this was hard as it was soo hot and everyone else had them)

I am not really talking to anyone about this diet as I have lost weight before and put it back on - I really hope that I can make some progress quickly and feel more confortable in my clothes.

WentworthMillerMad any top tips?

I haven't told anyone and as I don't want to be a diet bore . Not one fecker has noticed or at least said anything. I am very hourglass curvy and I stay the same shape just smaller so maybe that is why. I will neve be skinny despite being little if that makes any sense ?? I'm not bothere really as it means I must have hidden the weight well.. Back to school
Tomorrow so will report back if anyone notices :-)

I'm now worried that I'm losing too much too quickly if that makes sense? Although it's probably a lot of water.. as I don't feel that my feet are swollen anymore. I have hypothyroidism and one of the usual symptoms is water retention (along with a tendency to put on weight and get easily depressed LOL). This diet seems to help with the water retention.

@SandWitch lean ham is okay I believe? I don't each much ham normally. I bought some Bresaola today and it's delicious, although it's expensive. Never had it before, found it on the diet list.

For those on the attack - do you have any weird symptoms, how are you feeling? I have insomnia but other than that I'm ok.

I don't sleep anywhere near as much as I did . I wouldn't say insomnia as such but I'm just not as tired which is a good thing for me .

Hello , am thinking of doing this. Where are you getting all the info about the diet?,did you buy the book or online?

I bought the book in the works for £3.99.... Come join us Smile

Nuks..... It does slow down when you go onto cruise and becomes more like 3-4 pounds a week . Don't worry . I think if you have made a major change to your diet ( I. E gone from eating loads of carbs ) then it will come off quicker and of course it depends on what weight you are .

nuks · 05/09/2012 10:29

@WipsGlitter I also bought the book but I'm not sure if you need it. I use this website for reference mydukandiet.com. To calculate my 'true weight' I used the official Dukan site dukandiet.co.uk, it's free.

@bishboschone: thanks. It feels too good to be true :)

There is also a dukan app which I use daily. It has all the do ' and fonts on there .

nuks · 05/09/2012 14:54

@bishboschone what's the name of the app? is it for android?

I tried seafood sticks (surimi) for lunch today, at work - I like seafood but this was a horrible taste for me, never again :)

One other thing that suprises me is that I'm not hungry at all and all in all I don't feel like I'm eating too much. Tomorrow is the last attack day, so far so good.

Day 3 of attack here and hunger pangs have all but gone! Have even managed to resist nibbling on DDs homemade flapjack!

No other strange symptoms but I am drinking pints and pints of water which I know you have to but that could also be the lovely summer which has just arrived a few months late!!

I'm 4lb down so 13st 12Grin of course it's mostly water but it's so motivating to get decent losses do quick

@ nuks. My 3yo DD has also discovered a love of the galettes! Agree they are gorgeous with smoked salmon for breakfast but that's an expensive habit. And ideas for what else can you can put on them?

As for not telling anyone ... I definitely find it is the best way for me as some friends Angry seem to delight on trying to give me chips/ cake etc. knowing I usually have zero will power to say no!

I don't eat the oat bran . I just can't stomach it . I tried the gallettes but frankly they are disgusting . It hasn't affected my weight loss.

@twittertotter: that's great! I believe I lost 4-5 lbs or so and I'm in the 5th day of attack, out of 6 that I've finally decided to do. I can't wait for Friday, to eat something green :)

Re galettes I believe you can try adding low fat turkey ham or chicken or turkey bits that are already cooked, and even onions and herbs? Think of it as an omelette with oat bran in it :) And later on in the cruise stage you can add mushrooms or peppers or whatever else you fancy from the vegs list?

In our kitchen at work people have decided - this week - to bring grapes, apples, chocolate and leave it on the counter. There was nothing on that counter for weeks. I'm now avoiding the kitchen :)

And I got my first compliment - that I looked sharp :) True that I'm wearing a nice(r) dress and I'm in a good mood.

Well done Nuks - I am sure that your positivity is helping you look sharp too!

bishboshone - I don't do galettes either - I just can't seem to get the consistency right. I have my oat bran, mixed with two (small!) pots of fat free Activia as my evening snack. This actully tastes really nice and is very filling.

I am quite impressed with myself - I have now lost 5lbs since Monday and this morning weigh-in at 13st 1lb.
I had a really carb heavy diet before though, so I am sure that my body is just in shock! Surprisingly, I have not really had much in the way of side effects, with the exception of not having done a poo for the last couple of days (I am normally a once a day girl)
So, I have decided to buy some wheat bran to go with my oat bran today to try and ehm, move things along a bit.

Keep going everyone!

I don't do any oat bran full stop . I tried it in various forms and it made me gag . I am happy to not eat what I like but not force feed myself something if it makes me I'll. I don't know what it is about it as I am usually not fussy . Well done on the loss Smile
