dukan diet diary

Hi Ladies, I'm new here on the board but have been reading for a while now..

To make a long story short I'm going through a really hard time right now, dealing with separation.. 7-yr relationship and a 4-yr daughter. We moved to London last year from abroad so my social network isn't very large, to say the least. (n.b: I do love London though and planning to stay.) This is just a bit of background info to help you understand.

The reason I'm actually on the board is because I'm starting a diet. I'm unhappy with my looks and none of my clothes fit me, and my budget definitely doesn't allow for a wardrobe overhaul. So I'll use this thread as a diet diary and hope to get some encouragement and perhaps advice from you.

I've chosen the Dukan diet mydukandiet.com/dieting/. I'm at 69kg now and would like to get to 59kg, which is my pre-pregnancy weight (sorry can't get my head around stones and pounds yet). I actually dropped close to 60 kg when breastfeeding but have gained way too much weight since.

This is the plan:
5-day Attack phase starting tomorrow. (I've actually started 'light' today, just to prepare my body for it, so not eating pasta and breads and sugars today)
Cruise phase - the online Dukan calculator says that by the 9th of November I should get to 59kg, so I should lost 10kg in just a but over 2 months.
Consolidation - that's supposed to last 100days or so, after Cruise.

Thanks for having the patience to read so far. Hoping to hear from you along the way and if anyone wants to join in and diet, I'd be thrilled :)

The thing is about this diet is you can't really Cheat as your body needs to get into ketosis to burn the fat . If you cheat it will stop working .. It's not like weight watchers where you can make it up the next day , it will bugger it up so as much as I love biscuits .. Step away!!!

bishboschone · 14/09/2012 21:15

The activia 0% fat vanilla ones are unlimited. I have been known to eat 4 a day before . Smile

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 15/09/2012 22:18

Finally found some scales. At the end of my attack Blush
66.6kg, I know recently I've been over 70kg so super happy that I'm heading in the right direction.
(even weighed myself in the evening wearing shoes and jeans!)

bishboschone · 15/09/2012 22:26

Brilliant Smile

Just in case anyone is interested - here is a Wowcher that is offering the Dukan Diet plan for £7

I am going ok, but almost lost the plot yesterday - one biscuit led to another and before I knew it, I was at risk of going off the rails. Managed to have a stern word with myself, and have been fine today, but it has reinforced that I can not do 'just one' and these sorts of carbs and me do not mix.

I am never, ever going to have a healthy relationship with food am I?

Hope you are all enjoying a good weekend.

SandWitch · 15/09/2012 23:38

Actually, having taken a second look, I think that voucher is £7 for a 60% off voucher, can't remember how much the diet plan is but obviously it will cost more than £7.

Sorry to mislead anyone.

nuks · 16/09/2012 14:10

@Sandwitch: not sure if the plan really helps more than following the rules, perhaps it's just a bit of a motivational aid and written up rules?

I'm on a 'pure protein' day today and feeling very well.

Didn't lose any weight since Friday, I'm still over 64 :( However I'm very determined and totally abandoned my li'l cheating idea with low sugar/low carb fruit. Yesterday was a very active day, swimming pool in the morning and the entire afternoon wandering the local park. Didn't eat too much during the day but had a huge salad with salmon in the evening.

Today I made 'clatite' (a thinner version of pancakes) from scratch for my DD and didn't even have a bite, although was tempted to lick the marble syrup from the plate LOL. Normally I'd eat two pancakes while making them, just tasting here and there... I'll have to trust DD they were really good :)

Evening all - Is there room for one more?? After putting on all the weight I lost on my last diet, I am now 'In the Zone' and ready to start again Smile

This is the first time I've tried the Dukan diet, but from reading up on it I think it will suit me (fingers crossed). I have loads to lose & find threads like this a gret support/motivator, so I'm in, if you'll have me?

Day 1 tomorrow. I've shopped tonight, so I'm ready to Attack Grin

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 17/09/2012 20:19

Welcome mrsfluff good luck tomorrow
My scales arrived today -yeah!
So do my first official one week late weigh in!
I know i've lost a bit in attack as my clothes are feeling a little less tight!
Will update in the morning.

Mrsfluff · 17/09/2012 20:31

Good luck with the weigh in solittle - I'm sure you'll have a great result Smile

I shall being weighing tomorrow as well, to get my official start weight - soooo glad I don't have talking scales Wink

winkle2 · 17/09/2012 23:39

I did dukan earlier on in the year and lost nearly a stone in a short space of time and I didn't stick to it 100%. I stopped doing it because Im trying for a baby and was worried Dukan wasn't healthy but 6 months later I still haven't fallen preg and I'm fatter than ever!!

So I guess I'm asking is it ok to do dukan whilst TTC? I also have low iron so I'm trying to eat more green leafy veg every day which I can't do on dukan but then I will be eating more red meat which has iron.

What do you girls think?

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 18/09/2012 07:15

64.4 kg is today's morning weight!! Grin
5+ kg lighter than the last time (weeks) I weighed myself.
Loving loving loving this. (finally some good news in my life-minus dc obviously!)

bishboschone · 18/09/2012 09:22

Well done :-)

nuks · 18/09/2012 09:51

@Mrsfluff welcome and best of luck! the more the merrier, we can learn from each other.

@winkle2 I think it's better to talk to your GP about it. On Dukan you can eat vegs once you are past the attack phase (which lasts less than a week).

@solittletimeandsomuchtodo: that is GREAT, congrats! Getting here is an achievement already.

I'm supposed to get close to 63kg by Friday according to monsieur Dukan, but I believe I reached some sort of plateau, was only at 64.1kg this morning or maybe I'm too impatient? :) Seeing constant weight loss on the scale, even if small, feels so good. Not to mention the way I feel in my clothes now, nothing is tight anymore!

@bishboschone are you at your goal yet? are you planning on going thru consolidation as well?

OP posts:
bishboschone · 18/09/2012 13:22

Not quite at goal .. I want to be none stone and I'm hovering around 9.4 .. Yes I'm going to follow it through with consolidation .

bishboschone · 18/09/2012 13:36

Lol..@ none stone .. That would be good Wink.... Nine obviously !

nuks · 18/09/2012 14:10

@bishboschone you're under 60 kilos, awesome! (i can't wait to get there). 9 stone would be fantastic :) i used to be like that 5 years ago, pre-pregnancy.

I read that once consolidation starts, there is a risk putting weight back on... but hopefully not much?! after 2+ months on cruise, it would be crushing to gain weight again.

OP posts:
Mrsfluff · 18/09/2012 16:14

Afternoon all.

Well day one is going well so far, I'm drinking plenty of water and remembered to take my luch with me to work! Smile

Bish - I reckon none stone would take a heck of a lot of maintaining Wink

bishboschone · 18/09/2012 16:38

Still giggling at none stone. !! I'm happy at 9 and a half which is why I wanted to get to 9 before I started consolidation . So I have some leeway if I gain a bit . I so don't want to be fat again!!

SandWitch · 19/09/2012 09:19

Hello all.

Some of you are making fantastic progress!

Has anyone got any experience of not losing weight perhaps because of not eating enough? My appetite on this diet has just disappeared.

I am sticking to the diet, but not really feeling hungry, so I would guess my calorie intake is really pretty small.

I lost eight pounds in the first week, but only 3lbs in the second (none in the last 4 days). Am I just expecting too much? I seem to have stuck at 12st 10/9 lbs forever! I am impatient, but I guess I just expected to see a consistant half a lb every day coming off, rather than sticking and then jumping.

My (larger) clothes are feeling more comfortable though, so that's good. I have a wedding to go to in 10 days and would love to sqeeze back into my fav outfit. I think, that to do that, I will need to get at least another half a stone off, so need to stay focused!

Well done everyone, this thread is really helping me to stay focused.
Smile

nuks · 19/09/2012 10:43

@SandWitch I believe I'm the same... for the past week I've been fluctuating between 64 and 64.5 kilos so no weight loss. The scale is stubborn, doesn't want to show me 63something :)

I'm also not eating too much and rarely feel like eating, especially on the protein days. During the week breakfast is only oat bran + youghurt for me. I only do the galettes during the weekend now, for breakfast. It's some sort of plateau probably.

However, in the Cruise phase the weight loss should slow down, it should be something like 2lb per week... so perhaps we should just be patient? :)

Mrsfluff · 19/09/2012 18:35

SW & nuks, your not due on are you? (excuse the personal question!) That might explain things??

I've had an unexpected day at home, as DD wasn't well. It's been a bit harder then yesterday; felt quite hungry & also my normal pattern on a day like this would be to graze/pig out all day. Feeling quite virtuous now Grin

nuks · 19/09/2012 19:51

@Mrsfluff: not for another 2 weeks or so... so it's smth else.

OP posts:
bishboschone · 19/09/2012 19:53

Just keep at it . My weight stabilises and has gone up but it goes back down again sometimes in a few pounds . Smile

bishboschone · 19/09/2012 19:54

By the way , I don't eat much but still losing .
