Hi Ladies, I'm new here on the board but have been reading for a while now..

To make a long story short I'm going through a really hard time right now, dealing with separation.. 7-yr relationship and a 4-yr daughter. We moved to London last year from abroad so my social network isn't very large, to say the least. (n.b: I do love London though and planning to stay.) This is just a bit of background info to help you understand.

The reason I'm actually on the board is because I'm starting a diet. I'm unhappy with my looks and none of my clothes fit me, and my budget definitely doesn't allow for a wardrobe overhaul. So I'll use this thread as a diet diary and hope to get some encouragement and perhaps advice from you.

I've chosen the Dukan diet mydukandiet.com/dieting/. I'm at 69kg now and would like to get to 59kg, which is my pre-pregnancy weight (sorry can't get my head around stones and pounds yet). I actually dropped close to 60 kg when breastfeeding but have gained way too much weight since.

This is the plan:
5-day Attack phase starting tomorrow. (I've actually started 'light' today, just to prepare my body for it, so not eating pasta and breads and sugars today)
Cruise phase - the online Dukan calculator says that by the 9th of November I should get to 59kg, so I should lost 10kg in just a but over 2 months.
Consolidation - that's supposed to last 100days or so, after Cruise.

Thanks for having the patience to read so far. Hoping to hear from you along the way and if anyone wants to join in and diet, I'd be thrilled :)

Nuke -did I read a blog or something somewhere about this? Dr dukan recommends upping your exercise if you can?
I have toBlush confess I've done zero exercise!
I have dc with me all the time or working. Still active in everyday stuff but not the 30min walk.
Maybe I should get an exercise DVD or something to do in the evenings when dc sleeping?

nuks · 19/09/2012 22:23

My walk to the train station is 15-min and I do it in a hurry, right after school run. And again from train to childminder and then home.

Other than that I take stairs instead of lifts (luckily I work on the 3rd floor and live on the 2nd floor) and sometimes walk in my lunch break. These past weekends I did a lot of walking in the park and swimming so it's not like I'm a couch potato. I can't get myself to the gym or exercise, I find it boring :(

Morning all.

Start of day 3 here. I've so far dropped 6lbs , so absolutely thrilled Smile I know it's water & not fat, but I'm still glad not to have to lug it around.

Still a very, very, long way to go, but it's a positive start Grin

nuks · 20/09/2012 10:37

@Mrsfluff well done!

@bishboschone: you were right! I'm at 63.3kg this morning, this cruise thing works slowly but it does.

My 'official' weigh-in is tomorrow. I do it every Friday morning and write it down on a piece of paper which is displayed in the kitchen.. to remind me where I was and prevent me from straying from the diet LOL.

I can't believe I lost 5kg since the 1st of September, and even if some of it is only water I'm still happy. Monsieur Dukan, I think I'll write you a thank you letter in a couple of months from now :)

Mrsfluff · 20/09/2012 15:53

Thank you nuks. Well done to you as well, your patience was rewarded Smile With regards to losing water and fat - whatever made up the weight, we wear it all the same, so it's fab to see it all go!

bishboschone · 20/09/2012 16:28

Yay

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 20/09/2012 18:29

Definitely not a couch potato nuks Grin
Sorry hope I didn't offend?
Fab to find that 63kg mark
......Slow and steady wins the race.....

(hoping to wrote to Mr Dukan myself soon!!)

catwoo · 20/09/2012 23:00

Hi Dukanites!
Just finishing first day.I haven't really been hungry but I feel really ratty and could drink water for England at the moment. Are these normal side effects.
Good kluck everyone!

nuks · 21/09/2012 10:13

@catwoo: you're welcome!
@solittletimeandsomuchtodo: not at all. I'm not exercise friendly but try to be on the move :)

So I'm at 63.0kg this morning!! Got on the scale three times just to make sure it's not a reading error.

@bishboschone: thanks! Wine you've given me hope being so advanced in the diet - and coincidentally where I want to be in terms of weight :)

MyMamaToldMe · 22/09/2012 21:53

Hello - it's my 1st day tomorrow so I'd like to join this merry little weight loss group too please

I've read the last three pages and funnily enough I am 37 and from overseas too!

I'm the heaviest I have ever been and just disgusted with myself that it's got this bad. I am 12.8st and my true weight should be 8.7st! Yes, I have a long way to go!

Dr Dukan reckons it will take 6 months for me to get there (looking at March next year - gulp!) But I really want to be slim again before I am 40, so I am going to try really, really hard at this!!

Mrsfluff · 22/09/2012 22:22

Hello MyMama, good luck for tomorrow. I'm at my heaviest too, with a long way to go Smile

I have a Cruise question please - can I have butter squash on PV days? The lists I look at say yes to squash, but I'm struggling to believe it as it's so yum Blush Also mashed Swede? I'm imagining them both as toppings on a cottage pie.

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 23/09/2012 14:15

Good luckymama-welcome. New you for 40 woohoo!!

I have to brag about how well I have avoided temptation recently (and a really rubbish/stressful week)
Have avoided fish and chips, chocolate bars, mcdonalds, and wine.
Four hours in the park yesterday and I forgot to pack my snacks, was as good Aa gold.
I found my 'skinny' bag of clothes that have not been seen for a very long time.
Not yet fitting but I could get them on further up the legs.
Looking forward to tues weekly weigh in! Smile

MyMamaToldMe · 23/09/2012 14:21

Well day one going okay so far. 2 egg scrambled egg for brekkie, oat raclette, smoked salmon and loads of cottage cheese for lunch and chicken for dinner. What can I have with the chicken? Any ideas - or am I stuck with more cottage cheese? Also how many raclettes can you eat a day on attack? Is it just the one?

nuks · 24/09/2012 10:34

@MyMamaToldMe there are recipes in the book and online mydukandiet.com. During the attack phase you can only eat 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran so that should tell you how many galletes you can have - depends how much oat bran you put on them :)

This weekend was hard! I did cheat and not only once, but twice - had two apples yesterday and two glasses of wine on Sat evening. Yesterday morning I was at 63kg, same as Friday. This morning I didn't go on the scale, I was in a hurry to do the school run.

Today is protein-only and had just oat bran with yoghurt in the morning and brought galletes and some fromage frais to work. The plan is to have turkey meatballs tonight (found the recipe online).

Hi

I have been lurking. Can I join??
I need to lose the last 10kg (22lbs?) of baby weight (DS is 14 months Blush ). I did Dukan in the spring and lost 10kg and I have maintained that despite a stressful summer (two new bathrooms, new kitchen and DH new stressful job thingy) and eating junk and biscuits.

I started again today on attack. I am (5'9") and 78kg (12stone 2).

So far I have had 200g of 0% fat fromage frais, 4 chicken drumsticks and 4 slices of ham and 5 slices of turkey breast. And two
Coffees no sugar but with milk. and water obviously.

I am having steak and prawns for dinner. Smile

solittletimeandsomuchtodo · 24/09/2012 18:23

Weighed this morning, thought Monday is a much better day to start a weekly weigh in.
63.3kg GrinGrin
Love love loving Dukan!
Baked Chicken with seasoning and salad for dinner. Delish
No having a warm cuppa.
Heating went on tonight as it's do cold here!

Mrsfluff · 24/09/2012 18:29

First PV day here and I've really enjoyed it. Can't believe tomorrow it'll be one week in - it's gone really quickly Smile

bishboschone · 25/09/2012 07:53

Well done fluff !! That's great Smile

skandi1 · 25/09/2012 09:28

Question regarding seafood sticks. The books says they are tolerated. Yesterday while the DC were having dinner I had some seafood sticks (waitrose essential). In the spring when I last did Dukan, I had these proper surimi ones with virtually no carb but the waitrose essential were 12g per 100g so quite high. Are they still tolerated or do I need to very expensive surimi ones??

nuks · 25/09/2012 15:56

@skandi1: isn't surimi just a synonim for fake crab meat? So the seafood sticks that you are talking about are surimi? Or perhaps I'm ignorant? 12% carb content seems high to me, perhaps they put flour in it LOL

OP posts:
skandi1 · 25/09/2012 19:28

Thanks nuk. I had a look on google and it seems that the "proper" ones are very low in carb and high protein as they are almost pure squished up fish/seafood. Whereas the cheapie ones are indeed squished up with flour for bulking. Argh. I was doing so well and ruined it with cheap crap.

Well it's back to pre cooked prawn, ham, chicken and turkey for snacks then. The seafood sticks seemed ideal as they are handy size and I really like them.
