The only thing I could think of to rhyme with 'six' for a catchy thread title was 'ketostix'. But as I don't advocate those, I was stuck!

By now, hopefully you're in the sway of things. Weight loss each week may be less spectacular, but should be reasonably consistent if you stick to the knitting Smile

You may also be finding that it's not happening for you consistently. It is an odd thing - and I have no idea if it's unique to low carbing - but it's not uncommon to go for a couple of weeks without losing, and then for the scales to suddenly drop. However, don't be downhearted and whatever you do, don't use this as an excuse to drop off the wagon!

It's also a very good reason why you should take your measurements as well as weighing, and a very good idea to keep a food/drink/snack diary, so make sure that you're not allowing carb creep.

So. Keep on keeping on. Remember the water, and don't forget to make sure you're keeping the fat levels up.

Here's to next week!

Grin I have linked to this thread but I'll leave the technicalities to you!!

aussiegonewrong · 22/05/2012 11:56

Thanks for that , will read rules and learn a bit more , just had bolognaise with something called slim pasta which I got from Coles today its made of a vegetable (konjac) it looked and tasted fine only 2.1 carbs per serve compared with 92.5 for the regular spaghetti that the rest of the family had , I was shocked by those numbers if thats correct !

PostBellumBugsy · 22/05/2012 12:11

waves at everyone. Still here too.

Had a moment of weakness at the weekend and ate some --alot- Gu Millionaires shortcake thingys. They were so sweet I had to scrape the toffee bit off, but I still ate the buggers!!!!! [need a shame emoticon]

Anyhow, back on the wagon again.

smokinaces · 22/05/2012 12:46

I am on a course. Sitting looking at he lunch they have provided. Sandwiches, chicken goujons, volavents, crisps, fruit and orange juice.

Thank god I brought my porkbelly salad with mayo, water and having a cup of tea.

Thegoddessblossom · 22/05/2012 13:56

B: blackberries and greek yog with cream
L: salad leaves, roasted courgettes and mushrooms, tuna, coleslaw, pate and a small slice of brie

DoUntoOtters · 22/05/2012 14:03

Having lost 11lbs, I thought I'd have a trying on session with my summer clothes. I seem to have lost it all from the waist up, but very little from my hips and thighs. Even my upper arms look better, and that is an area that doesn't lose weight easily, isn't it? Anyone else?

Shimbo · 22/05/2012 14:17

B: Greek yoghurt, few spoons (I am in bootcamp but I really can't manage without a tiny bit of yoghurt)
L: Mackerel and mozzarella salad with olive oil (I must confess I am feeling pretty depressed and tired of all the crunching that goes on with salad!)
D: salmon and celeriac mash I think

After 1 week I STILL haven't lost my sugar craving........I crave apples and bananas (and chocolate Blush)

Ilovemyteddy · 22/05/2012 14:33

I can't remember who posted the lasagne recipe which substituted courgettes for the pasta sheets and broccoli soup for the sauce, but I made it last night and it was gorgeous. DH ate his pasta sauce with spaghetti and then ate half of my lasagne. Not surprisingly he was a pound heavier this morning - I was 0.2lb lighter Grin

RadioSilence · 22/05/2012 15:14

I am in a PMT induced carb-craving place and am trying very hard not to ruin everything by snaffling every biscuit in the house and then baking some more when they are gone so I can do more snaffling!

I have just melted two squares of very dark chocolate in the microwave and dipped raspberries in it which was lovely and definitely did the job for now but please someone talk me down so I don't blow everything.

Thegoddessblossom · 22/05/2012 15:58

RadioSilence:

If you eat sugar and the fat you are consuming you will gain weight - Fact
If you eat it you will feel rubbish later and the sugar rush won't compensate for it - Fact
If you don't succumb you will feel very virtuous and realise you can resist - Fact
You want to lose weight/eat this way more than you want the biscuits - Fact.

Livelongandprosper · 22/05/2012 16:33

RadioSilence Did you resist? I'm really hoping you did. I have a big chunk of my dad's birthday cake sitting in the kitchen and my DP is as I type sitting in the garden with a cup of tea and a big slice of it.

BIWItheBold · 22/05/2012 17:04

Shimbo - Atkins' induction lasts for two weeks because that is the length of time Dr Atkins felt you needed to break the sugar addiction. So keep on keeping on!

Radio - don't do it!!!

Last night I had proper ragu with beef and chicken livers on top of runner beans slivered into vaguely penne sized bits. It was delicious.

BIWItheBold · 22/05/2012 17:11

aussiegonewrong - I am Envy that you can buy konjac pasta in Oz! I buy the konjac noodles here (shirataki) and have used them in pasta dishes. They're OK, but not quite the same.

And yes, the carb count is very low. In fact, the Konnyaku noodles (brand) are 0 carbs!

MNP · 22/05/2012 19:14

B1:meds and .5L
B2:pork luncheon meat sandwich with mayo and spinach inside
L:cold rotisserie chicken with mayo salad of beansprouts, pea shoot leaves and spinach
D:chicken wings(soaked in a herby brine for 3 hrs then roasted at 80'C for an hour and then rested for 30 mins then crisped in 200'C for 20 mins) with mayo and cucumber

Been lax with water today up to 1.5L but will drink as much as poss before bed.

GreenEyesAndHam · 22/05/2012 19:19

Evening all

Is anyone else in a ridiculously good mood due to the fabulous weather? That and the fact that I'm back in a size 10 has got me all cheerful like.

B- Greek yoghurt
L- ham and slices of chicken with cucumber
T- barbecue! Sausages and burgers with a huge Greek salad. Gorge.

RadioSilence · 22/05/2012 19:22

Thank you for the pep talk. I went out for a walk with the dog so I could not even reach the biscuit tin and cooked steak and roasted veg for dinner so the worst of the cravings seems to have passed. I am now too full to eat even a (low carb)wafer thin mint Grin

BerylStreep · 22/05/2012 20:12

Hi all, just checking in.

Considering a name change as I saw the trailer for Meryl Streep playing Margaret Thatcher and she's looking a bit dowdy. Not really the vibe I'm thinking of - I prefer Mamma Mia.

Anyhoo, plodding on. We have a canteen in work, and they do fab salad boxes - tandoori chicken and greek salad is my favourite. They also do great bacon, poached eggs and mushrooms for the mornings that I don't have time to eat before I leave the house.

Forgot to weigh myself today and yesterday, so will do tomorrow.

Theeverexpandingrodders · 22/05/2012 20:48

Today I had a big omellette for breakfast , salad and some morzzerella with mayo for lunch and 2 medium steaks with roasted veg lots of butter. I only had 1 coffee with cream and lots of water . I even resisted cheesecake and birthday cake both bought for my sons birthday tea I did have one fruit pastel though.

moonshine · 22/05/2012 20:57

I envy those who can forget to weigh themselves - I am too obsessed and do it every day several times

B: protein bar (please don't shout me, but it's the easiest thing when at work and eggs etc stink the office out!)
L: Large Greek salad - one of my favourite lunchtime meals
D: poached eggs and turkey rashers and will probably have some Greek yog in a bit.

Not brilliant on the 'non-processed' stuff but have not been very organised today and have been mega grumpy with dcs constant questions and because the warm weather made me realise how awful I look at this weight, especially as I don't have any suitable clothes that fit [sorry - moan over]

colette · 22/05/2012 20:59
