The only thing I could think of to rhyme with 'six' for a catchy thread title was 'ketostix'. But as I don't advocate those, I was stuck!

By now, hopefully you're in the sway of things. Weight loss each week may be less spectacular, but should be reasonably consistent if you stick to the knitting Smile

You may also be finding that it's not happening for you consistently. It is an odd thing - and I have no idea if it's unique to low carbing - but it's not uncommon to go for a couple of weeks without losing, and then for the scales to suddenly drop. However, don't be downhearted and whatever you do, don't use this as an excuse to drop off the wagon!

It's also a very good reason why you should take your measurements as well as weighing, and a very good idea to keep a food/drink/snack diary, so make sure that you're not allowing carb creep.

So. Keep on keeping on. Remember the water, and don't forget to make sure you're keeping the fat levels up.

Here's to next week!

Your canteen sounds fab Beryl - wish I had something like that where I work!

B - protein shake with flax and dbl cream, spoonful of coconut oil
L - ham hock and hard-boiled egg salad from waitrose - it said 11g of carbs on the label but I didn't eat the potato or the dressing so hopefully it came in well under that
D - ummm, dunno yet. not really hungry. Have snacked a little with a few salted almonds and two squares of 85% Lindt. Might make up a bowl of tuna mayo with some capers, cheese and chopped cucumber...

How is everyone going with the water? Must admit I have slacked off a bit in the last few days - and am feeling the effects.

skinmysunshine · 22/05/2012 21:06

Hello all - am visiting from Twitter after BIWI suggested I come over here. I'm on day 2 and currently using the Pig to Twig rules. It's going ok but maybe you can tell me if what I've eaten last 2 days is ok.

Day 1:
Breakfast - salami, cheese, prawns
Lunch - tuna salad with egg and dressing (Pret)
Dinner - Roast chicken, cauliflower mash (P2T recipe), asparagus, made a thin gravy with a stock cube, the roasting juices and water (didn't have much of this)

Day 2:
Breakfast - mortadella, cheese
Lunch - pesto chicken salad and peri peri chicken salad (Sumo salad)
Dinner - leftover roast chicken from yesterday, cauli mash, kale, some of gravy left over from yesterday
Snacks: couple of pieces of cheese

Lookingat it now it looks a bit dairy. Am also drinking about 4 litres of water and have given up Diet Coke which is massive for me as I was a huge addict.

Oh have also had about 4 cups of herbal tea - Peppermint and lemon

WillieWaggledagger · 22/05/2012 21:07

well i was tempted by a square of 90% chocolate but after accidentally catching the opening scenes of 'dirty britain' i really don't feel like eating anything!

WillieWaggledagger · 22/05/2012 21:10

welcome skin, and bravo on the diet coke - I used to drink loads too (for the caffeine and the sweeteners too i suspect) but stopped three months ago and it was HARD. when I had a glass a couple of weeks ago it tasted so weird and artificial

skinmysunshine · 22/05/2012 21:13

Thanks Willie. Am finding it harder after lunch when I feel tired. Hopefully it will be out of my system soon.

Thegoddessblossom · 22/05/2012 21:16

Hmm not sure how low carb tea was.... Dh made fajitas out if a packet with chicken and chorizo, peppers and onions. I ate the chicken/chorizo and some if the peppers and inion, added the cheese and some of the tomato salsa. Ate that with a side salad and Mayo, no fajita wraps obviously... Veg a bit carby but nothing life threatening, was more worried about the spice mix the kit provides that dh cooked the meat in... Checked the packet but it didn't say... Oh well, fingers crossed.

Snacks: handful of nuts, 2 gins with slimline tonic sitting in the sunny garden.

Creamtea1 · 22/05/2012 21:52

Moonshine - I join you too in the envy of the non weighers! I too do it once (or three) times a day...am going on hol next week and am already worrying will have a nervous breakdown without being able to weigh..!

BIWItheBold · 22/05/2012 21:55

Hello.

I have been struggling a bit these past few days, and just realised that I hadn't been on MN much cause DH was here over the weekend.

Ilovemyteddy
That was my lasagne - I had similar today with aubergines. Was yummy.

B: egg with smokies and mayo
L: salmon with broccoli soup/cream, spinach and mushrooms
D: aubergine fake lasagne

I fried some mushrooms, garlic, spinach, added salmon and the ubiquitous broccoli soup and some cream, then reduced it a bit to a nice thick sauce. It was really good, and I hardly noticed there was no pasta in it.

Who asked about where the weight is coming off? I am definitely losing in my bust and upper body. I don't know if is all the water, but my legs are smoother and less cellulite-y than before.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 22/05/2012 22:29

Hello again! I gave up last week, but my skin went downhill so fast (adult acne), I'm back again. Hate to say that this WOE agrees with me! Oh well. Not being really strict, as I'm not worried so much about weight, although a size less would be a bonus. But I do really enjoy seeing everyone elses food for the day list -Mme Lindor, that soup/sauce sounds lovely, and I definitely want to try aubergine lasagne!

NigellasGuest · 22/05/2012 22:54

Hi Colette - great to see you here! have you started Bootcamp yet or are you reading, and waiting til you feel ready to start?

moonshine · 22/05/2012 23:21

CreamTea - we need to start a WeighAnonymous. I would suggest 'get someone in your household to hide the scales' but, personally, that would just give me an excuse to go buy another set that don't give a different reading depending on where you stand on them (or do they all do that??)

MmeLindor. · 23/05/2012 00:49

Breakout
Will add recipe to the thread.

Ha. I'm a daily weigher too, even though I know I shouldn't. And do the leaning forward and putting the weight on front left hand side of scale cause that gives lighter reading.

WillieWaggledagger · 23/05/2012 07:29

i don't weigh every day but i have digital scales and they do this heart-wrenching thing where they flip between about five different readings before settling on one

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/05/2012 07:31

Daily weigher here too, keeps me focussed. Smile

Not drinking nearly enough water, have really let that slip, but back on it from today, otherwise all is well on the low carb front.

Is this the latest thread?

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 07:46

It's definitely the latest thread - keep up, Pistey! Grin

Although RebeccaMumsnet did comment on just how many Bootcamp threads I've started Blush - made me wonder if I'm using up Mumsnet too quickly ...

Ooooooh - by the way - did you see that MNHQ have agreed to try and get Dr John Briffa in for a webchat?!

mummyduff · 23/05/2012 08:00

Morning all,

Hi to all the newbies Smile

Well I have woke up with loads of energy and ready to enjoy the sun, after work & a trip to the gym.
Breakfast was egg fried in butter.

Have a fab day everyone x x

WillieWaggledagger · 23/05/2012 08:03

the weather makes such a difference doesn't it mummyduff?

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 08:19

I'm also so please that this year, for once, I'm able to wear warm weather clothing without thinking "I wish I'd started my diet earlier"!

OP posts:
BerylStreep · 23/05/2012 08:31

I [heart] John Briffa

LittleFrieda · 23/05/2012 09:35

BIWI what does your warm weather gear consist of? I feel a bit stuck about summer clothes. And I need some urgently as I'm going on holiday on Saturday.

Ilovemyteddy · 23/05/2012 09:49

Whoop! Whoop!

After 18 weeks of LC I have finally reached the top of the hill and have lost half of my target of 77lbs.

Great news about John Briffa's proposed webchat. He's the reason I started this WOE after reading an article that he wrote in one of the Sunday papers at the beginning of the year.

And Thanks to BIWI for starting and maintaining these LC threads - it's wonderful to have such great support (and the occasional arse-kicking) and to feel that you are not alone Grin

MmeLindor - thanks for the lasagne recipe, and thanks also for the new aubergine one - sounds delish.

LittleFrieda - because I have still got a way to go in my weightloss, so need some interim summer clothes, I have been trawling the charity shops. Got an Alexon top and pair of trousers for less than £8 at the weekend. I did stash some of my summer clothes from three years ago (when I was half a stone lighter than I am now.) My much loved Fat Face cropped trousers fit me better now than they did then!

When I get down to my target weight I think I'm going to book an appointment with a personal shopper because I haven't been able to get into 'normal' clothes for years and have no idea what I should be wearing. And I'm an old gimmer so don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb Grin

Spamspamspam · 23/05/2012 09:56

Wow I love my teddy bloody well done!!!!

LittleFrieda · 23/05/2012 10:17

Ilovemyteddy - Well done. You are doing brilliantly well. Yes, interim clothes are a bit of a problem.
