So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

Tea: Pork chop with spinach, courgettes and leeks stirfried in butter. No dairy in sight. 1.5 glasses of red however. Blush

Couldn't eat my dinner tonight. Gammon, broccoli and cauli mash - it was delish but felt like I was forcing it down and gave up. Had smoked mackerel salad for lunch and scrambled eggs and tomato for brekki. A few brazil nuts inbetween. Went to bed at 9 last night and won't be much later tonight. Am absolutely knackered. I wonder if its this WOE?

Hi have beenin ketosis for 5 days and still not lost any weight - how does that happen

B 2 boiled eggs and cucumber

Snack chicken

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 30/04/2012 21:18

another on track but nothing lost yet. Sad

Inches are removing themselves from my body though...

Wow. This evening I made the almond cake posted by some kind soul on the recipe thread.

DELISH slathered in butter.

I had no coconut flour so I did the almond/flax mix only. It's just like soda bread, which I love. I'm a very happy bunny Smile

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 01/05/2012 08:06

Im going to try the cake later today. Weather is back to peeing down again so may as well cook/bake.

Hello all. Just checking in for yesterday:
B: 2 eggs mashed with butter
L: salad - not great though as had some cous cous.
D: pork loin with creamed leeks and fennel. Delish.

Today (admission, I've had a teeny tiny choc this morning and I think I desperately need to get back into ketosis - that's my aim for next couple of days).
B: scrambled egg with mushrooms fried in butter
L: left over pork and spinach
D: probably salmon with green veg

Feel like I have put inches back on since last week, although weight is static. I felt amazing a week ago - I definitely need to get back on track as not feeling so great now after a few cheat days.

ok, those who are not seeing losses this week, have you been doing bootcamp for 2 weeks? If so, please remember that it is very common to have no loss on the scales in weeks 3, 4 and sometimes 5 of this WOE. As disheartening as it is, it just seems to happen, maybe body adjusting, then it gets going again. The main thing is to expect it, accept it and carry on. You may well still lose inches those weeks but the scales might not shift. I find that by peeing on those ketostix that BIWI doesn't endorse I can see I am still in ketosis, therefore know I am burning fat. This helps me accept the stall on the scales because at least i know I am still burning fat IYSWIM.

I didn't lose anything on the 2 week bootcamp but I know this WOE works in the long term and is so much better for me so I just suck it up and carry on and trust that it will show on the scales eventually.

Anyone who has a kindle and would like to read the taubes books, I may be able to find a way to lend them.
