So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

Biwi that's fantastic well done.

I still weigh same this am.

Yesterday - 3l water plus 2 tea and 2 coffee with milk

B fried egg, bacon
L smoke salmon cream cheese
D biwi cabbage parcels (delicious) courgettes Greek yog and berries

May be too much dairy, will reduce that today

Have a lot to lose (4 st) and some health problems have read Briffa, looked on line and know that bread is a massive weight gainer for me ( and interestingly Ds 7) am absolutely convinced by evidence and this thread so will persevere

DH still in bed, Livelong, so doesn't know yet. I'm surprised I haven't gone and woken him up to tell him actually! In the main, he is being very supportive and complimentary, however. I cannot fault him.

I won't be abandoning anybody any time soon, Jacaqueen - I still have 13 (and a quarter) pounds to go!

But it's lovely to know that I'm more than half way to my target now.

Well done BIWI!!

And welcome Lily

Today's officially my 2 weeks so off to the scales for me >>>

LittleFrieda · 29/04/2012 10:23

BIWI - well done. You must be thrilled.

I haven't weighed myself yet, but this is really working well for me. I'm normally really cold but now I'm really warm, even my feet. It's like someone's repaired my boiler. And it takes more calories to be warm ...

Thank you all for your support and shining examples.

mummyduff · 29/04/2012 10:25

Well done BIWI, thats great x x

ohforfoxsake · 29/04/2012 10:33

Is anyone else really, really fall-asleep-in-the-middle-of-the-day, tired?

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 29/04/2012 10:38

well done BIWI that is amazing.

I feel like I am not drinking enough water, but am drinking water.

no loss for me this week - but then last week was a dodgy time for my WOE.

forfox sometimes I am very tired but I have put that down to still getting over this chesty thing.

vnmum · 29/04/2012 11:20

Well done BIWI. We had the same goal and i am pleased to inform you that the scales finally moved for me this morning and i am now 10st, so only a pound away from the nines. Yay. Thats a 2lb loss since yesterday.
Are we officially weighing in in the morning for the bootcamp lite?

ilovemyteddy · 29/04/2012 11:37

Congrats BIWI and other losers. I ate bugger all yesterday due to various circumstances, and put on 0.4lb. So I guess I need to eat more! An oopsie and three slices of bacon for me this morning.

MNP · 29/04/2012 13:02

Thanks well done BIWI

Static weight and am not going to do weekly weigh ins as the weight seesaws and TOTM is due.

Am continuing boot camp proper for at least 2 more weeks and probably for longer as really want to be in 13's in July.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 13:15

I'm thinking about asking MNHQ if they will arrange a web chat with Dr John Briffa. Assuming that they say they'll ask him, is anyone else interested in that?

Afternoon.

Well done all of you!

I had a shit day diet wise yesterday, felt headachy and sicky for most of the afternoon so cheated enormously. Back on it today with bacon eggs and tomato for breakfast, tomato tuna melt for lunch and a lot of housework and dancing around holding a toddler.

This evening will be a bit tricky, we are having a friend round and the evenings are usually full of food and a lot of wine, but in true lc style we have some Moet to drink, halloumi salad for starter, belly pork with spinach, and (the bad bit) butternut squash and chickpea mash followed by salted caramel and chocolate pots (will make mine dinky)

Off out the rain (again) shortly

DoUntoOtters · 29/04/2012 13:32

Fell off the wagon spectacularly yesterday as DH and the DCs were indoors because of the rain, and decided to do baking.

Back on track today, and I have got my size 12 jeans on. Grin

They are rather tight, but they are on.

ohforfoxsake · 29/04/2012 14:40

According to MFP I have had 394% of vit c intake today. Have had scrambled eggs, with cream, mushrooms fried in butter and a tomato, roast beef with cauli, broccoli, green beans and a wee bit of gravy. Mussels and salad for dinner (I will miss the crusty bread for soaking up the sauce though!)

NotMostPeople · 29/04/2012 15:23

Wel done BIWI I am most Envy but also very happy for you our glorious leader.

I went to my sisters last night and was so much better behaved than DH who ate crisps, chocolate and a naan bread with his curry not to mention lots of wine. However I was still a bit bad as I had two glasses of prosecco (lower carbs than wine) and another two glasses of wine and a teeeny tiny chocolate. Other than that no rice, naan etc.

In order to try to make a difference to my bad behaviour I've been to the gym did a full workout and then a few lengths in the pool. I've probably scuppered my chance of hitting my goal tomorrow, I've only got 1lb to go but I suspect it'll take longer now.

Ho hum, jeans still look good.

Thegoddessblossom · 29/04/2012 16:02

2 boiled eggs and couple of spoonfuls of greek yog for breakfast

Lilyloo · 29/04/2012 16:20

SharonGless · 29/04/2012 16:34

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 16:38

Well done BIWI and that you very much for all your ass kicking - it has kept me kind of on track. Thanks

Spent the day baking low carb goodies. Choc truffles have gone down well with the kiddies - I rolled ours in cocoa & their's in popping candy coated in dark choc.

Made Almond and Coconut muffins - with no sugar - they are ok with butter....the ones made with Stevia had a bitter aftertaste but the star of the show was the muffins I made for dh to have for a quick brekkie - Parmesan, semi dried tomato & spring onion - texture is very close to normal, taste fantastic...currently in freezer and a 30 sec zap in the microwave will give him a quick healthy breakfast - job done!

Feeling stuffed now from all the tasting I have done and currently have cod & roast beef in the oven...might be a light supper. Smile
