So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

This mayonnaise is 0g carbs - Sainsbury sell it, and it is yummy, but it's also quite expensive at £1.99 for 250g

Hellman's is 1.5g carbs per 100g, and [[http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp?bmUID=1335773488818 Sainsbury's own French Mayonnaise is 2.1g carbs per 100g.

BIWI - thanks for the mayo links. I'll get some of that yummy zero carb mayo from Sainsbury's. I has salad nicoise last night and a blob of mayo elevated it - it was Hellman's but we didn't have v much.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 09:56

Adding mayo is a really good way to up your fat.

Er, hello.

Can I sign in for boot camp? But if I do please DO NOT ENGAGE ME IN ANY INTERESTING AND LOVELY CONVERSATION ON MN.

I have been trying to regain my RL and I. Will. Not. Be. Sucked. In. Again.

Anyhow, had one small apple (starting slowly), some cheese and nuts for breakfast this morning. Will be having hot smoked salmon for lunch, plus don't know for dinner but will shop later.

Thegoddessblossom · 30/04/2012 10:31

Ok will stop using MFP - was using it as a food diary as advocated by OGL (our glorious leader), but if the carb counts are inaccurate anyway there is zero point.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 10:32

Wilf!

You do realise this whole 3 weeks has just been an elaborate plot to lure you back here, don't you?!

I have just got 2 gary taubes books to read on my kindle (good calories, bad calories and why we get fat) and also junk food nation as recommended in the IPD book. I understand the science behind it all but I am abit geeky in the fact that I like to research stuff LOTS.

LittleFrieda · 30/04/2012 15:20

Wilfy - Lovely to see you here. Didn't you lose a whole load of weight a little while ago?

LittleFrieda · 30/04/2012 15:21

I've only just had my lunch.

Breakfast - bacon (2 rashers), 1 egg scrambled, 5 musrooms.
Lunch - Waitrose pesto chicken pieces on a bed of watercress with shavings of parmesan cheese, a blob of mayo and drizzled with chilli oil.

Thegoddessblossom · 30/04/2012 15:39

B: greek yoghurt with added cream
L: leftover cauliflower cheese from last night
snacks: pepperami and baby bel
Exercise: 50 minutes on the treadmill (was really tough today - I guess an indication of my finally properly LCing?)

At least 4 pints of water so far, and I am not counting the litre I drank at the gym.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 15:49

Thegoddess - just watch the dairy - there's a lot of cheese/cream going on there!

Thegoddessblossom · 30/04/2012 15:56

yes good point BIWI. None planned for this evening, and will steer clear of it tomorrow.

ilovemyteddy · 30/04/2012 17:17

LittleFrieda - your lunch sounds yummy, and as I have all of the ingredients in my kitchen I think I'll have the same for my dinner Smile

WillfSelll · 30/04/2012 17:56

Hello LittleFrieda. Were you someone else previously? Yes, I did; and then (curse of the LC WOE) put it all back on again stuffing my sugar-addicted maw. Not healthy but hoping one day I can learn how to keep it off...

LittleFrieda · 30/04/2012 18:58

ilovemyteddy - hope yours was yummy too. Grin

LittleFrieda · 30/04/2012 19:02

Willf - It's Swedes. Ah, didn't realise you'd lost the weight doing low carb.

Would it work to low carb for 6 days and then have one day a week where you can have chips.

I made pancakes for pudding for my children. They had them with Golden Syrup and lemon juice.

slowlyburningcalories · 30/04/2012 19:25

Back on track. Well kinda.

So so SO tired, toddler kept me up most of the night and I am exhausted, by the time DH got home from work I was lying on the floor with toddler piling toys and books around me and gleefully bouncing up and down on my tummy trying to get mummy to move.

Zzzzzzzz

MrsNouveauRichards · 30/04/2012 19:51

Evening.

Didn't round to weighing today, I completely forgot to do it before I got dressed, then cba to get undressed to weigh while in the mad Monday morning rush.

Been a bit rubbish today, just not felt hungry, eaten because I thought I ought to.

B - cup of tea and cup of coffee
S - cup of tea and a Viennese whirl Blush
L - salad with ham and cheese
D - a bit of chicken, a piece of cheese and some yoghurt.

Not enough water

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/04/2012 19:53

ilovemyteddy · 30/04/2012 20:26
