BIWI's Two Week Low Carb Boot Camp - starts Monday 16 April

I've been back low carbing seriously since February and have lost a stone (almost). I have another 1.5 stones to lose.

It's been going well for me, but I have slowed down in the last month and I'm keen to get things back on track and up the speed of my weight loss. To that end, I have devised a strict two week bootcamp.

It will start on Monday 16 April to give anyone who wants to join in time to sort themselves out, get planning and generally get themselves ready to join in.

Who's up for it?

Brill!

PorkyandBess · 15/04/2012 22:39

Can I join? Have also name changed in honour

The Easter holidays have done for me.

I will be squinting at the scales tomorrow morning and going Shock

FourThousandHoles · 15/04/2012 22:41

Right, so I have lurked all week, and after giving myself a stern talking to I'm in.

I'm dreading the next couple of days tbh, I'm a carb addict extraordinaire. But needs must.

I too have been scoffing chocolate and it has now all gone, other than the remains of the dds' easter eggs but dd1 is the easter egg police and knows exactly how much she has left and woe betide us all should any of it disappear...

I've boiled some eggs which are now in the fridge for breakfasts for the next couple of days

Ham salad with chopped boiled egg for lunch tomorrow

Beef and veg for tea

A couple of questions... 1) Caffeine - I can't withdraw from caffeine and sugar at the same time. I usually drink shitloads of diet coke every day (I know I know) but have been cutting this down slowly so might be ok. I also drink black unsweetened coffee. Which is going to have to stay I'm afraid. 2) Cheese - can I have this on boot camp? (pleasesayyespleasesayes) 3) raw carrot? is it ok?

Loving the recipes and tips, see you all in the morning...

BIWI · 15/04/2012 22:41

Of course you can!

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 15/04/2012 22:42

I have just had a snickers and a bag of crisps.

Thank goodness that was today and not tomorrow ... Grin

Hello 4thousand - in answer to your questions from my POV

  • I drink a lot od diet coke and diet red bull but try and replace it with water. I do end up having at least a can a day though.
  • I eat lots of cheese, but I would keep an eye on it, as it can stall some people.
  • no you can't have raw carrot as it is carby
BIWI · 15/04/2012 22:48

FourThousand - I suspect you're probably right about the caffeine; withdraw from carbs first! If you're drinking it black then it's much less of an issue. Personally I think it's the milk that's more of a problem than the caffeine

  1. yes you can have cheese - but go carefully. A lot of cheese can cause problems

  2. carrots aren't great - there are a lot of carbs; how about cucumber or celery instead?

FourThousandHoles · 15/04/2012 23:05

THanks, I thought that might be the case with the carrot sticks, I'll have to eat them tonight then with half a pot of houmous

Good news about the cheese - I'm just doing an online shop and will order some proper stinky cheese so I'll only need a little bit to get the flavour

Off now to grate some parmesan to sprinkle over me ham salad and eat the carrots

Oh just thought of more questions - is balsamic vinegar more carby than the other vinegars then? Can I make a dressing with white wine vinegar and olive oil? Is mustard OK?

MarzipanNPrayers · 15/04/2012 23:11

I also cooked the leeks/mushrooms in a mix of the lamb fat and butter :o

lemniscate · 15/04/2012 23:29

I'm easing myself into bootcamp mode (been LC for about 5 weeks on t'other thread) - Greek yoghurt, nuts and raspberries first thing and then fried eggs and bacon for brunch and finally yummy Moroccan chicken poached in butter and stock so served with a totally yummy buttery chicken fatty sauce :) And then trifle Blush 4yo DS has decided that he loves to make trifle, and it is impossible to turn it down when he has made it as he is so thrilled when we eat it and say good things about it and I just can't break his heart by saying no (and it is very good - today's had popping candy on top!) Oh well, at least the trifle was today so we should be good to put him off making it for the 2 weeks of boot camp :o Have a good sleep all and hope you all enjoy your eggs and bacon tomorrow morning :)

BIWI · 15/04/2012 23:52

Fourthousand - yes, definitely avoid balsamic if you can!

MrsNouveauRichards · 16/04/2012 07:24

Good morning bootcampers!

Where is the new thread? :o

DH has just brought up my cup of tea (without sugar )

MariaCallous · 16/04/2012 08:05

Anyone else feel a bit nervy? I need this as my diet has been so shocking.

FauxFox · 16/04/2012 09:13

Managed a slice of proscutto (sp?) ham and had two coffees with a splash of milk for breakfast. I'll get some fancy tea later that I can have with lemon to get off the coffee - am not a breakfast person at all!

Mushroom omelette for lunch then tescos to stock up!!

Good luck everyone Smile

MeTheMog · 16/04/2012 20:11

Can I sneak in late and start tomorrow - just have to finish this pack of Easter maltesers :)
