BIWI's Two Week Low Carb Boot Camp - starts Monday 16 April

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 22:41

I've been back low carbing seriously since February and have lost a stone (almost). I have another 1.5 stones to lose.

It's been going well for me, but I have slowed down in the last month and I'm keen to get things back on track and up the speed of my weight loss. To that end, I have devised a strict two week bootcamp.

It will start on Monday 16 April to give anyone who wants to join in time to sort themselves out, get planning and generally get themselves ready to join in.

Who's up for it?

I shall be one of the first at reveille tomorrow morning. What do I do BIWI?!

BIWI · 15/04/2012 09:45

I'm starting a new thread for tomorrow - I will re-state the rules, and flipflopflap will list the rules for veggies.

Then you need to sign in with your starting weight. Either your actual weight or your start at 100.

And then you HAVE TO BE GOOD!

DistantShip · 15/04/2012 09:48

Have decided to launch the low carb lifestyle today - as we are "all systems go" in the Ship household - having been shopping yesterday.

Planning to use myfitnesspal to track carbs and exercise - if anyone wants to join me for motivation, find me under the same username as here. Goals have been "tweaked" to provide 25g of carbs a day for boot-camp phase.

Start weight is 77.4 kg - and goal is 65kg.

ohforfoxsake · 15/04/2012 10:01

Yes Distantship! I was planning on doing the same. Will find you later Smile

MarzipanNPrayers · 15/04/2012 10:24

BIWI how often are we weighing in? I was thinking every Sunday or maybe Sunday and Thursday's?

Livelongandprosper · 15/04/2012 10:35

Morning BIWI - how are you feeling today?

I'm ready for tomorrow. Excited to be giving it a go as my sugar/carbohydrate addiction is really mucking up my life by giving me headaches, leaving me sluggish and all those other dreadful symptoms you get when you are poisoning yourself with lovely sugar.

At the same time I am frightened at the thought of life without it.

When I think only sugar/carbs will fix how bad I am feeling, please feel free to remind me that eating them never made me feel great in the first place.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2012 10:35

grrr, I can't remember my password for myfitnesspal. I've followed the reset procedure and it keeps saying invalid username or password Angry

So far, so good; Bacon & egg, two mugs of weak black tea and a ginger tea. Still hungry so about to have some ham and cheese.

MarzipanNPrayers · 15/04/2012 10:49

Starting weight 15st12lbs

Target is 12st

BIWI · 15/04/2012 10:49

MNP - How often you weigh or want to weigh-in is totally up to you! I was thinking that we'd have an 'official' weigh-in next Monday, and then the following Sunday, so that we could see our results.

Personally I am a daily weigher - it helps to keep me on track - and I'm am sad enough to have a spreadsheet showing my weight. If you're going to do this, though, you do need to be prepared for the fact that your weight can go up as well as down, even if you have been 'good'!

Livelong - still suffering, but much better than yesterday. Had to give the gym a miss this morning though, which I feel bad about. And I avoided the temptation of pizza, which was a very good thing!

Have you got a plan for what you're going to do when the biscuit/sweetie tin is calling you? Anything you're going to eat instead?

MarzipanNPrayers · 15/04/2012 10:53

Ok BIWI will do Sundays.

Had 1ltr whilst watching F1 so now for a corned beef snack before 12o/c lunch, roast beef then a 4 hr drive back to work.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/04/2012 10:53

I am a daily weigher too, but I think the official weigh in is a good idea to see our results.

I will be good. On the low carb already but boot camp from tomorrow. Last slim gin tonight for at least two weeks

Well done BIWI for avoiding the pizza!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/04/2012 10:54

and thanks for doing this lovely BIWI Thanks

ohforfoxsake · 15/04/2012 11:05

Yes, thank you Smile

WRT tea and coffee, what's the rule and is decaf ok?

And biscuits, although carrots dont dunk well, they are my alternative. It's a crunch thing.

I won't be giving up chocolate (c'mon, I know my limitations!) but will stick to two squares of dark with my chamomile tea of an evening. DH is often away and I'm in the bad habit of treating myself with food. It's a lifelong thing since my mum did it when I was a child, and although I know I can break it, it sucks me back in at times of stress and upset. So am making other changes this week too. Little things like wearing earrings and perfume, as well as big things like finding a job (or at least a new purpose). The diet is part of a much bigger renovation.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 15/04/2012 11:42

Can anyone give me some breakfast ideas please? I just can't stomach meat/eggs etc in the morning and I'm finding myself skipping breakfast entirely which is not good, mainly because I'm starving long before lunchtime. I'm having to keep out of the kitchen right now as the custard creams are calling me!

I did have some strawberries for breakfast yesterday but not sure if they're really allowed? Confused

BIWI · 15/04/2012 12:10

Fruit not allowed on the bootcamp!

If you can't face food first thing, can you eat a bit later? Do you go to work or are you at home? A hard-boiled egg would be an easy snack which is also highly portable (just pongs a bit!)

Do you like yoghurt? As long as you're careful about portion sizes, Total full fat Greek yoghurt is lovely - put a bit of vanilla essence into it and you could be eating custard Grin

MariaCallous · 15/04/2012 14:28

Shopping done and made a few low carb lovelies for the freezer.

Hepsibaaah · 15/04/2012 14:51

[peers around the doors into the very full room]
may I join you? I need to loose about 10lbs, have LC'd before with moderate succes but got bored with the repetition, the recipe links on his thread are much better! Am into my 4th week of C25K as well, so really determined to shift the flab.

teaandthorazine · 15/04/2012 14:59

Aaaargh - ds is back (which is lovely obv!) and has bought me from Italy... handmade pasta, chocolates and wine!

BIWI · 15/04/2012 15:09

Can you eat it all within the next 24 hours? Grin

gothicmama · 15/04/2012 15:10

this is so busy now, looking forward to tomorrow in a strange way

BIWI · 15/04/2012 15:12

There are loads of us, aren't there?! I'm wondering quite what I've started here!

noddyholder · 15/04/2012 15:16

I am so looking forward to it. I need a system as I have no willpower on my own! Until I start that is and then if I can get past 5 days I am religious Grin

noddyholder · 15/04/2012 15:17

Any recs for some cheapish decent high st scales? I am in temp house atm and can't find mine.

alienreflux · 15/04/2012 15:20

ohhhhhh!!! can i please join??!! only just seen this thread, but have been half arsedly trying low carb for past 2 days, first though please couple of questions, 1)thought vodka and diet coke were ok??!!!!! 2) can i not drink coffee with splenda?? and is there a basic list of what i should be eating and not eating? thanks 4 your patience, have rushed this post as you start tomorrow

BIWI · 15/04/2012 15:24

noddy - I bought some Weight Watchers ones from Boots which weren't too expensive

alienreflux - welcome! On the bootcamp we're going for 2 weeks without alcohol although I suspect many people are going to ignore that.

Drinking coffee is something I'm suggesting that you try and minimise - partly because of the milk (assuming you take it white) and also, if you're using Splenda, you're using artificial sweeteners, which are also something to be avoided.

All of that said, it's up to you how you make the bootcamp work!

There is a list of sorts ^ - fresh meat/fish and veg/salad, and an allowed list of veg.

Any other questions, just shout!
