BIWI's Two Week Low Carb Boot Camp - starts Monday 16 April

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 22:41

I've been back low carbing seriously since February and have lost a stone (almost). I have another 1.5 stones to lose.

It's been going well for me, but I have slowed down in the last month and I'm keen to get things back on track and up the speed of my weight loss. To that end, I have devised a strict two week bootcamp.

It will start on Monday 16 April to give anyone who wants to join in time to sort themselves out, get planning and generally get themselves ready to join in.

Who's up for it?

Oh thank you, very helpful. Right, well, I think I will go with the odd bit of mayo (sugar free, that French one def doesn't have sugar in it) and butter and I will start this properly hard core from Monday. I feel happier about that tbh.

Yes, Shirl, I saw the coconut oil in Sainsbury's and promptly put it back on the shelf! But having read that link I think I might try it out now.

GreatEXPATations · 14/04/2012 18:07

bIWI we need you!

now, have a prawn? or some (salty) water or a nice piece of ham/chicken/duck, scrambled eggs? olive..something??

otoh, bootcamp not started yet so moderation in all things (applying 80/20 rule), you could wobble a little if you need to do so.

BIWI · 14/04/2012 18:10

I'm going to make spaghetti carbonara for the rest of the family, and I'm going to have the sauce over some shiratake noodles, as a bit of an experiment to see how they work as a pasta substitute.

And some wine

BIWI · 14/04/2012 18:10

Nice hat, by the way.

ShirtyKnot · 14/04/2012 18:24

It looks like something I should be putting in my bath.

Just read an article about it and it is high in omega 3 which means it combats oxidative damage.

Do you know what that means? ANTI AGING!

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 18:33

shirl your food for today looks great - all looks OK carb wise, but I don't know about the cucumber (I never eat it what with it being THE FOOD OF THE DEVIL and all). Re coconut oil, I got a big bottle of it from an asian grocer for 80p. They have loads of varieties in there. I wouldn't pay the supermarket prices.

Re carb counting, when I started this caper I put everything into MFP - it divides what foods you have into cals, carbs and fat, which is useful at the start.

Biwi I hope you feel better soon, try and resist the call of the wine, as you are ill it won't make you feel any better, despite the fact it will taste lovely. Can someone else not cook dinner whilst you lounge on the sofa feeling sorry for yourself? Grin

BIWI · 14/04/2012 18:39

Resist the call of the wine? On a Saturday night? Are you mad, woman?! Grin

And absolutely no chance of anyone else in this house doing any cooking, sadly. But I am on the sofa in my dressing gown feeling sorry for myself. DH just said to me "I suppose you're not going to bother getting dressed now?" !!!

Shirl - your food looks great. I've never actually made cauliflower rice - let me know what it's like!

MarzipanNPrayers · 14/04/2012 20:02

Baked bream with butter, lemon slice and garlic with mushrooms, asparagus and leek mix.

Hmm coconut oil, saw it in holland and Barrett the other day, they also do solid coconut oil for cooking or skin care!!

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 14/04/2012 20:11

Evening.

BIWI hope you feel better soon.

If you ignore the chocolate I have made an improvement today. I have drunk more water (nowhere near enough though) and lunch was some mature cheddar with gherkins (not sure if this is ok, but seemed better than cheese baguette Grin) dinner was buttered leek and pea omelette with a tiny sprinkling of cheese, some cucumber and 3 teeny cherry tomatoes.

WRT water, do you stop drinking at a certain time in the evening to stop being up all night peeing?

ShirtyKnot · 14/04/2012 20:15

Thanks GETORF and BIWI (you're both in my I-pad's autocorrect, I hope you're happy! Grin)

BIWI - cauliflower rice is literally just mashed cauli with a little butter. It's really weirdly tasty.

Thinking about it, I didn't look in the World Food aisle for the coconut oil - I bet I could get it there for less. Smile

Marzipan - that sound lish!

WillieWaggledagger · 14/04/2012 20:19

hope you feel better soon BIWI!

Dedalus I usually don't drink more than one glass of water after supper, but I've always got up for the loo in the night

spanner in works wrt water consumption here today though as our loo was blocked most of the day and there is only so many times you can use the neighbour's loo!

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 20:26

Serious envy of your delicious sounding dinner marzipan.

Oh and now I have typed marzipan I really want a glass of amaretto. Grin

I have no idea what I am going to cook for dinner. I can't be bothered. I might just have some smoked salmon.

I have had 3 pints of water today, which was dull but worthy. I will have another pint during the evening.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 14/04/2012 20:29

Oh dear! We had our bathroom redone while I was very pregnant, even the thought of being without a loo for 30mins was making me feel nervous!

I nearly always need to get up around 4am ish for a wee, don't want to get up more than that though.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 14/04/2012 20:30

Watching Man vs Food and it is making me feel very hungry!

Catsmamma · 14/04/2012 20:37

Evening....i am saying a fond farewell to mashed potato this evening, lovely shin of beef casserole too.

I know I only just joined, and I shall bootcamp, but I shan't post my weight...I have very very crappy scales and a very unhealthy competitive streak so I will be judging using The Trousers of Truth if that is alright. :o

I shall commence the water torture tomorrow.

AND.... I am another who has migraines provoked by carbs, I never get migraines when I low carb.

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 20:42

I adore Man V Food.

It has the opposite effect with me - if I am hungry when I start watching it, I certainly am not after I have watched Adam scarf down a burger bigger than a toddler's head. Grin

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 20:43

Ghastly oversharer alert - but when I am strictly low carbing I never ever fart.

Tis a miracle.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 14/04/2012 20:44

It depends what he is eating. Supersize vs Superskinny always makes me hungry too Blush Grin

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 14/04/2012 20:45

LackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2012 20:47

I'm starting bootcamp tomorrow, in the vain hope that I will be marginally less wobbly by my interview on Friday.

Can I ask though, I did low carb, high fat breakfast (lardons, mushrooms and eggs in butter) and dinner (steak, courgettes and leeks), but had sushi for lunch. Will that have sabotaged everything? Normally I would have eaten similarly, but with grilled bacon and poached eggs and griddled steak. I can't help but feel today's meal choices are bad ones.

I'll not weigh in till Monday though, so I'm on track with everyone else.

Hope you're feeling better tomorrow BIWI

Loving how educational this thread is; got lots of reading to do, as well as trying to put a presentation together Confused

DoraBelveden · 14/04/2012 20:50

This is Dedalus with a namechange (just so you know Grin)

LackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2012 20:53

Lol at the Trousers of Truth :o

I have those!

ShirtyKnot · 14/04/2012 20:54

I love Adam. Actual passionate lurrrrve.

LOL at trousers of truth.

Daisy - we are breakfast twins! Was it sushi with rice?
