BIWI's Two Week Low Carb Boot Camp - starts Monday 16 April

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 22:41

I've been back low carbing seriously since February and have lost a stone (almost). I have another 1.5 stones to lose.

It's been going well for me, but I have slowed down in the last month and I'm keen to get things back on track and up the speed of my weight loss. To that end, I have devised a strict two week bootcamp.

It will start on Monday 16 April to give anyone who wants to join in time to sort themselves out, get planning and generally get themselves ready to join in.

Who's up for it?

I'm in! I've lost 7lbs since Monday and I need to lose another stone plus a few lbs more. I am amazed at the lack of hunger and after only 2 tough days I'm flying.

I really want to stay disciplined so this boot camp is perfect!

Here is an interesting vegetarian site

I have ordered the Rose Elliot book that flipflopflap recommended. BIWI Breakfast is my big worry so I'm hoping there will be some some quick breakfast sugestions. I cook mostly from scratxh so I hope the change will be easily incorporated

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 07/04/2012 18:40

For breakfast I usually have eggs - quick and perfect for low carbing. This morning I had boiled eggs, sometimes I do poached. Occasionally scrambled or an omelette.

Very occasionally (because I'm not sure about dairy - I think it stalls me) I have yoghurt for breakfast. Either on its own or with some stewed rhubarb. Again, I don't have that too often as it has to be sweetened, and obviously this has to be with an artificial sweetener, which I'm also doing my best to avoid.

BIWI thanks for the links I especially like the IPD one very informative food for thought

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 07/04/2012 19:03

I would really like to join you.

I am sure low carb is what I need and your typical day of food example is identical to my day!

I mostly want to change how I eat. I am lucky to have an active enough lifestyle which stops me actually putting weight on, but it is my diet which is stopping me lose the weight I need/want to.

I am 27yrs, 5'3"(and a half!) Size 12 (ish) 32ff chest and weigh 10st. I need to lose 7lb, but I would like to lose 14lbs.

A week to get organised (and enjoy Easter!) Is perfect!

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 07/04/2012 19:05

Welcome, DDPW!

And Gin! Sorry - I didn't see you earlier. Welcome, welcome, welcome! I don't know of supplements that will help with the withdrawals, I'm afraid - but it won't last for too long, and once you're over it, you will feel fine.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 07/04/2012 19:13

May I please join in - think I may need a bit of discipline to recover from the damage I am inflicting on myself this weekend [bublush].

I've lost 5lbs this week, feeling great and then I go and eat half an Easter egg and a large bag of mini eggs. Just because they were there.

In mitigation, I 'm stuck in a room with about 20 Easter eggs staring at me (all waiting for delivery from the Easter Bunny tomorrow )while Istart finish an overdue college assignment. And to cap it all, DH 'cooked dinner' - i.e plated up bags of thick, salty, vinegary chips from the local award winning chippy. And it's not even Easter Sunday yet.

Thank you BIWI (I will call you that as it's simpler, sorry :o )

Why is it necessary to have butter, fats etc.? I absolutely love butter! And also does this mean I cannot have yoghurt as I am addicted to yoghurt as well!

Eating fat helps burn fat, EE. If you try and do low carb and low fat it won't work.

You can have yoghurt, as long as

a) it's full fat yoghurt
b) you keep an eye on the carb content (Total is the lowest, I think)

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 07/04/2012 19:35

Some interesting stuff about fat here

Sorry - will stop bombarding you with links now!

I'm in. Just started low carbing again (had a few weeks off) and experiencing that horrible carb-flu feeling- but today went ok apart from a 3pm wobble that quickly passed.

Lost 9lbs in 2 weeks last time. Back on the wagon now- it really does work.

Physillum husks half an hour before meals help with the pooing situation. Holland & Barret do them.

Livelongandprosper · 07/04/2012 20:15

I'm in as well. I'm going to need a lot of support to stick with this as I crave carbohydrates and sugar to an extent most normal people don't seem to understand and the way I am eating is making me feel ill! Even though I can see it is making me ill I can't seem to control the cravings. BIWI, we had a chat about this and you thought low carbing might break the cycle/cravings if I could only stick at it long enough. Reading this thread I see there are others who are vegetarian and who are also no strangers to the odd half ton of sugar so I don't feel alone - I'm going to give it a go. Some great links by the way!

Gincognito · 07/04/2012 20:35

Hi livelong, not a veggie but definitely a fellow sugar addict!
