Hi all. I know there are several other Dukan threads out there, but I wondered if anyone else is starting this week due to Daily Mail media coverage.
Anyone else on the attack phase???

Oh no Cordiality that's terrible news, is it because you don't have much to lose I wonder? Can you give an example of what you have been eating for a couple of your attack days? I'm no expert but I'm sure it will be seen by someone who is.

cordiality · 14/08/2011 12:38

I've got loads to lose, about 4 stone ideally! I'm 13st10 at the moment and only 5'1" Blush. I was doing WW before, so possibly wasn't highly loaded on carbs, but can that really be it? I'm still in my maternity jeans which I guess are much looser, but then again I'm not carrying a baby any more so surely that's to be expected?!

On a usual day I've been eating the galette for breakfast (though I can't seem to flip it, so it's more like oat bran scrambled eggs...) and then some smoked salmon and quark. And a cup of tea w skimmed milk. Skinny cappuccino and some prawns during the morning, and then roast chicken/beef and 1.5% waitrose cottage cheese for lunch. Snack on chicken/turkey during the afternoon, and then dinner usually of a baked fish and then a small pot of total 0% yoghurt with sweetener and vanilla essence. And a diet coke. And maybe a decaf coffee with skim milk and sweetener if i'm feeling cravings later on.

Is this too much food? Am I eating too much dairy? I'm meant to be going on to p+v tomorrow but I'm tempted to keep going on pp just in case it suddenly makes a difference! Oh woe is me.

I'm going with two girlfriends for a really posh afternoon tea today... and I'm really not feeling very strong at the moment! WILL NOT EAT SCONES! [determined face...]

DizzyDummy · 14/08/2011 13:58

Cordiality I may be wrong but I thought Quark wasn't allowed (unless there is some super low fat version) and that cottage cheese needs to be fat free. I personally would cut out the skinny latte too. Are you drinking plenty of water as I find I lose less if I don't take in the require amount of water? I did better cutting out the galette and just having oatbran porridge with sweetener in the morning but that's because I prefer to have a hard boiled egg as a snack or with my tea. Maybe you could do with a few more days on attack, I did 10 days and I have (or had) 3 stone to lose .

I hope you don't succumb to temptation this afternoon (I, however, would find it impossible to go to a posh teas and not eat scones though, thats why I am such a lard-arse I suppose)

ggirl · 14/08/2011 16:41

Cordiality- are your bowels ok?
are you drinking enough?

when I stalled for a few days I had a few glasses of wine and a bread roll ( such a rebel) and the next day I lost a lb....wtf!?!?!

Your body may be in starvation mode...you could alwys have a day off and then start again and see what happens.

i remember one atkins -type diet I followed recommended this as a way out of a plateau.

ggirl · 14/08/2011 16:44

I think quork is allowed ,I have some non-fat quork. And lowest fat cottage cheese I have been able to find is waitrose 1.5%

cordiality · 14/08/2011 18:15

you guys are so nice helping me! I am back from the tea, which was like the most evil torture in the world, but I didn't succumb - surely i should lose extra lbs for that?!

I definitely think 0% quark is allowed, it's in the book, but I think I will definitely cut out the cottage cheese as that was the lowest fat i could find too, and I'll cut out the lattes and have black coffee instead?

Think the bowels may be an issue too, I haven't done a proper poo since Wednesday! I just thought maybe there wasn't any cos I was just eating less?! May try some fibogel and see if that makes a difference. And I think I'll do a couple more days of attack. It may kill me, but at least I'll hopefully fit more easily into the coffin....

Thanks for all the advice lovely thinning people Grin

killercat · 14/08/2011 21:35

Hello again. Quark is definitely, absolutely allowed by the way. It's almost entirely fat free!
I buy lots of it every week Grin it's in lots of the dukan recipes (the galettes recipe for example).
Doing okay this time so far. Made it a whole week without alcohol before slipping up with a gin and tonic and sone crisps during train journey from hell with a tired and hypoactive three year old.
Did PP today, and ate a steak when we were out for lunch and ignored the children's leftover pizza, chips and ice-cream (sob).
Will do another PP day tomorrow to make up for slip-up.
Has anyone else bought any flavourings from the dukan website? I have the honey one and the chocolate one. They seem extremely strong. I chose to just add cinnamon to my porridge this morning instead.

DizzyDummy · 14/08/2011 22:58

cordiality I am in a bit of a rut too after restarting dukan. I lost these pounds once before and they came off quicker then Sad
I am determined to carry on as best I can for the next week and see.
Moral support is the key I think!! How was your weight this morning?

DizzyDummy · 15/08/2011 13:49
ggirl · 15/08/2011 16:08

mmm can you tell me how ot make the pizza??

ggirl · 15/08/2011 16:10

s'ok have fuond it!!
it is real
Shame I've had my allotted oatbran already today

will try it tomorrow I think

BuckBuckMcFate · 15/08/2011 16:32

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the ideas forever Smile

I've been on holiday and went from no carb to all carb!! Fortunately didn't put any weight on but think that's because I didn't stop while we were away.

I did 2 days PP when we got back and am now on P&V every day.

I've been out walking for 2 hours today, pushing the pram and other dc on their bikes so got a good speed going.

I've finally got some scales. I weigh a stone and a half less than I thought I did woo! But still have roughly a stone to go.

Who said one small piece of chocolate??? I have to do all or nothing, one piece will inevitably lead to another and another Grin

Off to catch up on thread properly

killercat · 15/08/2011 18:01

Oh dear, oh dear. I popped into Waitrose after collecting DD1 and walked into a discussion between a customer just starting the dukan diet, two shopping assistants and then the store manager. Assistants were swearing blind their store did not sell Quark. I overheard the convo and insisted it did, and showed everybody exactly where it was.

Manager joked he ought to give me a job when I also advised customer they sold oatbran on the cereal aisle.

Must stop barging into other people's issues even though they were about to send the poor guy away with no quark Grin

cordiality · 15/08/2011 18:17

I never thought I'd get to a point in my life where I'm really fascinated by discussions about Quark!

Am still doing attack, this is day 8, though last night I ate four chips, a piece of chocolate and half a glass of wine! I felt better for it though, and have started today with renewed vigour. I am about 2.5lbs down I think. Depressingly little but it's the right direction I guess Hmm

I was looking at some of the recipes on mydukandiet and they look really nice, might try to make things a bit more interesting this week...

Glad to have the support here, let's keep going, we can do it!!!

ggirl · 15/08/2011 19:56

another lb today, thats 12lb all together , am so chuffed, my clothes fit better and even people at work have noticed my uniform is getting baggy.
Saying that I am sitting here with a gin and tonic Grin

Cordiality- well done on HALF a glass of wine , that's willpower!

prettypurpledaisy · 15/08/2011 20:10

First day with vegetables so excited :) I have lost 5lb and DD 7. I am enjoying this diet but miss wine and cheese so much. I have been swimming, aqua zumba and walked the poor dog (I think she will start hiding from me soon she is exhausted.)
Well done ggirl on your weight loss.

wickedfairy · 16/08/2011 13:25

Have completed 7 days on attack and lot 5 pounds - pleased with that, although I had lost the 5 pounds by day 5 and didn't lose anymore over the next 2 days. Starting p+v tomorrow, so hopefully.

Got 9lbs to go and then I will be happy. Good Luck everyone!

prettypurpledaisy · 16/08/2011 14:01

Well done wickedfairy :)
It was lovely to have veg yesterday but p day today.

Snuppeline · 16/08/2011 14:19

Hey guys! I dropped in when this tread started but then forgot all about it as I got stuck in with my attack phase. I did 7 days attack and was very good indeed though I lost a little under what I was estimated to be loosing (but I did have some wine at a friends leaving do which was socially necessary). I'm now in the cruise phase and have had approx 20 days on the diet and I've lost a magnificent 11lb in that time! I'm getting really bored of the protein meals though and feel like the joy of eating has been removed entierly but I love the "treat" of veg on the P+V days! Its like choc now - sad eh?

That said I hardly crave any 'illegal' foods anylonger and have rekindled my love for a cuppa of an evening instead of wine. I am a lot more energised and look so much better (not bloated anylonger and my skin is radiant).

Anyway, just wanted to say about the galette that after much trying I've found a way to make them into actual pancake texture. What I do is make the batter and leave it for a moment (to swell as you should with normal pancake mixture, sort of let the egg and oat bran do its thing). I use fat free natural yoghurt in the recepie (someone mentioned using quark in it but I've not seen that recepie before). After say 5-10 minutes I put a blob of the batter on a hot pan and rub it out to a 3-4 inch (diameter) sized pancake and let it start to settle. I then put a lid over it and let it cook that way. That I find is the only way the whole thing settles right through and becomes firm enough to turn it over. Its nothing like a pancake and too much faff for me so I tend to have a cup of 0% fat natural yoghurt with my oatbran in it. But thats me being lazy...

I also put some quark in with my egg mixture when I make scrambled eggs. Let the mixture heat a bit of the hob and stirr in the quark (you'll find it goes all lumpy but will melt in the heat). It makes for a more interesting and smoother scramble I find.

I've still got 33lbs to loose before December 19th so long way to go...

Snuppeline · 16/08/2011 14:24

Oh and as for the issue of stools or no stools I've read that proteins are mostly fully absorbed in your system so there is very little waste at all. Basically what will leave waist products are the oatbran (but at 1.5-2 tbls a day its not going to be much!) and the veg you eat on P+V days. Obviously without fiber its harder to get rid of the waist products so drink the required amount of water and take your oatbran. Drinking coffee/tea also helps.

For what its worth (way TMI sorry) I was a once-a-day kinda gal and now I'm a once-a-week kinda gal. But I'm not worried and don't think any of you should be worried either less you are uncomfortable in any way. If you are uncomfortable its allowed to eat a couple of Ryvita or similar high fiber supplement or as a last resort get something from the chemist.

killercat · 16/08/2011 14:30

Good afternoon Smile I was going to have a PV day today after two days of PP to make up for having PV days (plus a naughty drink) last weekend, but actually have realised I have a weekend away coming up including a black-tie dinner at which I absolutely cannot be seen to be a fussy eater. And so am considering doing another PP day today as I haven't had any veg yet.
If I do PP today, PV tomorrow and then PP for both Thursday and Friday, I can then do PV for Saturday and Sunday and try and avoid carbs if I can.
I won't be able to avoid them entirely as staying with (non understanding) friends and will possibly need to have a glass of wine.
Then next week, I'll do PP again for at least the first half of the week.
Does anyone else need to chop and change this much?
Does it affect it for you?
I did read somewhere that the diet used to be five days of PP followed by five days of PV, but Dukan changed it as it was easier to do alternate days.

Snuppeline · 16/08/2011 14:38

I was uncompromising weirdo during the Attack phase where I brought my own food to a dinner with friends Blush I know I know, makes me social outcast! But it was fine, I explained in advance and think I got away with it.

Also had three work lunches at restaurants with clients/visitors last week and had to order from the menu but I just went for the most Dukan like meal I could (i.e. had steak and egg at one place and just left the veg and chips well alone). On PV days its easier as you can just ignore the potatoes and not look like a total freak!

I do take a glass of wine socially though as otherwise I'd really stick out but I drink a lot less than I would ever have done outside the diet.

BuckBuckMcFate · 16/08/2011 14:53

Yes yes snuppline to the less bloated and radiant!!Smile

My face looks much less puffy and my eyes whiter too, though that could be the new foundation I treated my self to.

I am back to post DD hole on my belt, and she is nearly 6 now so I'm very happy.

But have had to accept that one of my favourite tops is now too baggy to wear anymore, I'm feeling Sad and Smile about this just because I love the top so much.

Keep up the good work everyone!
