Hi all. I know there are several other Dukan threads out there, but I wondered if anyone else is starting this week due to Daily Mail media coverage.
Anyone else on the attack phase???

flakemum I love the oatbran porridge too! I just put a tiny bit of powdered sweetener on mine and find it tastes like normal porridge, you only have a tiny bit of it but it does seem to fill you up somehow too.

ggirl · 31/07/2011 00:18

bugger!
had long shift at work today surviving on muller lights x2 as the meat i took was disgusting
felt like I hadn't had enough to eat but not feeling very hungry ...then wolfed down 4 oatcake biscuits woth quork...dammit
bought some ham from asda yesterday which is beyond disgusting

ninah · 31/07/2011 00:24

how does it affect kidneys skwk?

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 31/07/2011 08:04

The kidneys have to work really hard to clear protein from the system, so on a protein-only diet they'll be overworked. Probably fine if your kidneys are ok to start with but I remembered that my consultant once told me to "watch the red meat", which is why it's not the ideal way for me or anyone with kidney issues.

Bloodymary · 31/07/2011 08:09

I am suprised that SoftKitty felt like she was goilng to pass out thru lack of decent food because I have never felt hungry on this diet, although I would happily kill for a plate of pasta with a Wine, followed by a cheese board!!!

Also, I am concerned as to how it may affect the kidneys .

Oh thanks for answering so quickly SoftKitty Grin

In the book he says you need to drink 1.5 litres a day to flush out the toxins/proteins.

ninah · 31/07/2011 12:07

thanks kitty. I felt awful when I tried this and yy v thirsty all the time. Is OK for a few days but long term I reckon not one for me either

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 31/07/2011 13:15

The water in itself won't flush out an overload of toxins/protein because kidneys already under pressure (like mine) can't cope with such a massive amount of protein intake in the first place.

As I said, this diet is probably fine if your kidneys are well, but mine aren't Sad, so there's no point me putting extra pressure on them just to lose a few lbs.

Day 3! I've been having smoked salmon with scrambled egg, marinated chicken, salmon fillet and steak so far! Plus 1 mullerlight a day. Made the oatbran cinnamon pancakes with my friend last night to eat on our girly night in Grin they weren't too bad actually - definitely filled a hole and didn't taste too disgusting.
Have lost 0.7kg in two days.

Bloodymary · 31/07/2011 20:03

What do you marinade the chicken in ednurse?
I must start having more chicken, all this smoked salmon and fillet steak is costing me a bomb!

Hi all, just checking in, am still soldiering on, found it all easy this weekend as we've had bbqs both nights so easy to eat loads of meat. Have cheated earlier and had a solero ice lolly to treat myself (but only 99 calories - so how much damage can it really do????)

harrietlichman · 01/08/2011 09:04

Hi all - I decided to go pv days for the whole weekend as just find it too hard to stick to pp only at the weekend. Had a bbq on Saturday so that was easy enough and a roast chicken with veg only on Dunday - hard to resist some freshly dug up potatoes, but I did it! Treated myself to a glass of wine on both days, weighed in this morning and it doesn't seem to have done any damage - am now having two pp days in a row to make up for consecutivce pv days.

harrietlichman · 01/08/2011 09:06

*Sunday, obviously!

ggirl · 01/08/2011 10:04

I am on last day of 6day attack- have lost 7lbs !!!
Only one poo though./sorry tmi.

harrietlichman · 01/08/2011 17:55

Well done ggirl! Are you eating the oatbran? That should help keep you regular! What are you planning to eat tomoorw - I couldn't wait for my first taste of salad after attack!

ggirl · 01/08/2011 19:56

Thanks. No have have the oatbran a few times , must try harder. Liked the porridge I made the other day ...maybe I'll make some now.

Planning on ham and salad tomorrow , stocked up today. Can we have tomatoes?

ednurse · 01/08/2011 21:08

Just been marinating in pimento and cayenne really. However I did use honey and mustard marinade Blush but it was a massive pot and I used two tablespoons. Per quarter jar is 120calories so hopefully I didn't cheat too much!!

Made chocolate oat bran muffins which were disgusting!!

Weighed this morning (morning of day 4) and I've had a 1kg loss Smile

ggirl - I think tomatoes are banned.

ggirl · 01/08/2011 22:54

damn really?
thought it was too good to be true

ggirl · 01/08/2011 22:56

OOOH have just read in his book
pg88 tomaotes allowed !!!!!

harrietlichman · 02/08/2011 09:05

I have had a disaster! Think I was getting a bit complacent with the daily weight loss and yesterday evening we took the kids to the park and ended up in a pub beer garden, had two (two!) glasses of wine and munched on a few crisps - weighed in this morning and have put on two pounds! It just shows that this diet is so very, very strict and only works if you do it to the letter! Am now going to do PP only for three days to try and pull it back. Am gutted!

foreverondiet · 02/08/2011 09:28

harriet i think that this is one of the reasons that the diet is so effective - you get an immediate and big punishment for cheating! But its just retained water, I am now doing consolidation, and would put on 2lbs after a "celebration meal" and more if I have a cheat weekend (4-5lbs!) but lose it at a rate of 2lbs a day once I am back on the diet. I think thats why he advocates daily weighing.

I have also found that 3 days of PP to recover things not necessary - you can do PV but stick to lower carb veggies like spinach, broccoli, salad leaves, cucumber and don't go mad with dairy. I decided early on I didn't like PP days and lost consistently doing all PV but with every second day lower in (veggie & milk) carbs. Trial and error, you need to see what works for you.

BuckBuckMcFate · 02/08/2011 10:11

I've been cheating way too much. Cannot resist chocolate Sad and still can't face doing a PP only day.

I've put an inch back on my hips and waist bah!!

I can cope with the no carbs really easily but I just love chocolate too much.

I'm going to carry in with P&V for the rest of the week, stop rummaging in the chocolate drawer in the fridge and up my exercise now DC are finally infection free yay! DS3 is quite a pudding now so I'm going to attempt an afternoon walk pushing him on the pram and take advantage of the fact that I am surrounded by hills and mountains-wherever I go it's uphill to get home.

forever what sort of meals are you having doing P&V? I've been having lots of salad which is fine but struggling a bit with veg as I want gravy with it!

ninjanurse · 03/08/2011 09:15

Morning all, had my two week weigh in this morning and have lost another 2.5 lbs - total weight loss in 2 weeks - 11 lb!! Am so pleased, especially as Ive found it fairly easy. Feel far less bloated and all my spots on my forehead have cleared up as well.

Am going on holiday for a week on Friday, so that will be a real test!

Hope the rest of you are doing well!!

foreverondiet · 03/08/2011 09:27

buck

My favourite PV meals are those which involve either tins of chopped tomatoes or passata. I eat fresh veg, but also have frozen veg (spinach blocks, brocoli, cauliflower and mixed veg) in freezer which is fine when running low of fresh stuff.

eg:
bolognaise sauce with chopped tomatoes, add mushrooms, onions, courgettes and aubergine. The chop up some cauliflower (I just use tesco value frozen) and pour sauce over the cauliflower!

Stir-fry - chicken pieces, veggies (carrots, courgette, mushrooms, broccoli pakchoy etc etc)and beansprouts. Add some thai curry paste (I generally add the paste to a cup of boiling water and then pour in.

A cartoon of passata and loads of veg. Serve with meat of fish. Or add quorn mince / quorn chunks.

Chocolate- limit yourself to 1 square of 85% stuff only. Nibble it very slowly!
