Hi all. I know there are several other Dukan threads out there, but I wondered if anyone else is starting this week due to Daily Mail media coverage.
Anyone else on the attack phase???

Bloodymary · 23/07/2011 13:57

Hi roguepixie, Good idea to wait until after your Birthday, as you can see from my post from last night, and Piffles above!
Good luck, and let us know how you get on Smile

well dh has persuaded me to wait until wed to start as dd coming home on tues after being away for 3 months so we wil be celebrating
also need to stock up on stuff
he's read the book so he can fully support me as he does the cooking in our house
where can I get oatbran and is splenda ok instead of aspartame?

Bloodymary · 23/07/2011 15:18

Hi ggirl, good idea to wait until you have every thing in I think.
I bought my oatbran from Waitrose, its actually called 'Mornflake Oatbran' and it was at the end of the cereal section.
I am using Splenda sweetner, as it was all I could see. I believe there is a liquid one also (possibly the aspartame)? So I hope its OK!

Hi I'm joining! Had my first day of attack today - I need to do 4. I need to lose 25lbs :)
So today I ate some chicken strips, scrambled eggs, tuna mixed with Philadelphia light, yoghurt and diet coke to avoid the energy crash that was sure to happen.
Tonight I am going to have some quorn sausages and try to avoid the veg that I making for the family and really grit my teeth over the yorkshire puds they are having :(

Bloodymary · 24/07/2011 17:31

How is everyone doing? I lost 4lb on my 4 days of attack, despite the 'margarita' episode!
My first PV day is going well, just a few wine, chocolate + cheese cravings (well it is Sunday).
Am going to have homemade burger for dinner with loads of veg. Smile

Hi everyone, am on day 5 of attack today, felt a bit tired and washed out all day so am going over to cruise tomorrow. Havent had any choccy or biscuit cravings (my weakness!) but could sink a big bowl of pasta! Have been thinking about all the veggies I can eat, getting a bit bored of cold meats for lunch!

Piffle · 25/07/2011 16:02

am on cruise now though try and have one PP meal a day
Have lost 2kg since starting last weds...
5 more to go! 6 according to true weight but he has not factored in my boobs Grin

BuckBuckMcFate · 25/07/2011 16:35

Hey all!

Well done to you all for sticking to it.

I'm here to confess my carb sins Grin

Had a rubbish weekend with DD and the baby having chicken pox Sad not much sleep between any of us and I've been so tired I've been doing p&v everyday instead of alternating. I've really felt like I've needed the veg. I'm not normally a big meat eater and it's been grim when faced with meat and yet another egg dishGrin

But I baked welsh cakes because kids all home and asking for snacks. I ate 4 of them this morning! And my stomach is so bloated now ow! Definitely helped me realise why me and carbs don't get on.

Going to carry on with the p&v for a few more days and steel myself to a PP day as soon as normal sleeping resumes.

Spamspamspam · 25/07/2011 16:59

Hi all - can anyone tell me the basis of the diet - it sounds just like no carb which is what I am doing anyway. What is it with the Oatbran though? I thought about joining but thought it is silly to pay when I might need to just add oatbran to my current diet.

Bloodymary · 26/07/2011 11:33

Hi Spam the diet consists of a few days of pure protein (no veg + no fruit)

After that you alternate days of pure protein, and protein + veg (no fruit except for rhubarb) You do this until you reach your desired/true weight.

The oatbran (2 tablespoons a day) is (well pierre dukan says) a vital part of the diet.

It is a good diet if you can stick to it (tho I do miss pasta, cheese and wine).
I have lost 7lb in 6 days, tho of course that will slow down soon.
Only another 2st 2lb to go!!!!!

Can I join in please? Doing my first attack day today. Have made it so far but dreading this evening as that is my 'picking' time lol.

Hoping to do 10 days of attack, although if I make it to 5 I'll be happy. Need to lose about 6 stone :(

foreverondiet · 26/07/2011 12:47

In terms of paying, do not pay for anything other than maybe the book (which explains in more details).

DO NOT subscribe to the website! Not worth it.

Its low fat and low carb, but he does allow fat free dairy (although there is some limit, can't remember exactly, maybe 500g a day)

The basis of the diet is lean protein (meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, tofu, quorn) and oatbran plus veggies on every 2nd day.

Bloodymary · 26/07/2011 12:54

TM12008 Welcome and good luck on your first day Smile

Hello everyone and to all newbies!

I am on day 2 of cruise now, lost 6.5 pounds after 5 days on attack. Had homemade bolognaise lastnight with loads of mushrooms and peppers, I dont think Iver enjoyed bolognaise so much! The DCs were a bit Confused as to why I didnt have any pasta though!

I have taken up some sewing again in the evening, as thats when I find myself eating junk for the sake of it and the sewing keeps my hands and mind occupied a bit more

Well done to all those who have lost so far!

harrietlichman · 27/07/2011 07:33

Hi
I am new to this thread but am on day 8 of the diet. I was recommended by the website to do only two days on Attack but found it quite easy to stick to so did five - now on day 3 of Cruise and have lost 8lb so far - I am so pleased with this as I have had a stone to lose for what seems like ever. I have done WW on and off for years but needed a diet that was really strict and wouldn't allow me to cheat (on WW I would 'forget' that half a fishfinger left by my son, or only eat salad so I could guzzle wine in the evening!) Am really pleased with Dukan so far, haven't been hungry at all - though I do think you need to prepare in advance, to make sure you've got enough 'allowed' foods etc, and also be mentally ready to do it - avoiding carbs totally involved an actual life-style change for me (and made me feel very precious when I had to phone my aunty in advance of lunch to tell her of my dietary needs - got a Hmm in return!) So far so good - on PP day today, am getting bored of cold meats and tuna for lunch, but the scales tell me it's worth it so am carrying on!

Bloodymary · 27/07/2011 08:43

Hi harriet I am also on day 8. I had lost 7lb by yesterday (forgot to weigh in this am; and I will not do it after 2 cups of coffee, they must weigh something)!
PP day today, and yes, more chunks of protein, but still, as you say, the scales tell me that it is worth it. I just cannot help thinking that I am doing cruise until mid November. Just have to keep thinking how gorgeous and slim I will look at Xmas Wink

Rightio girls I have started today. Have only had a muller light and coffee this am, I am supposed to have one of those galeta things aren't I.

Piffle · 27/07/2011 09:42

ggirl · 27/07/2011 11:21

that's weird piffle
how annoying

harrietlichman · 27/07/2011 12:21

Hi bloodymary! It's great isn't it?? I am totally converted!

ggirl - I am sticking to the oatbran rule - having it as porridge for breakfast it's nice tasting (with a bit of sweetener) but it's a bit of a wierd texture - bitty!!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 27/07/2011 13:43

Ok, having started a thread on here last night about losing weight quickly in 3 weeks then stabilising my diet, I'm going to go with Dukan and will aim to do 2 days of attack at first. It's food shopping day tomorrow, so any suggestions of essentials I need to buy? Obviously I'll be getting cold meats, some fish, chicken, mince, eggs (lots!) and some kind of fat free yogurt, but is there anything else I can have during the attack phase? Can I have baked beans for example, as they are protein? Or mince with kidney beans?

Also, what is the oatbran thing and what do I do with it? And what are these gallette/galletta things that people have mentioned on here?

And when I move from attack phase to pv days, can I have any veggies with my protein or are some not allowed?

Thanks, oh knowledgeable DD people!

ggirl · 27/07/2011 14:31

the website may give you some more ideas
you can also have non fat cottage cheese and fromage frais

bloody waitrose don't stock non fat c.cheese only 1.4% low fat one

the galeta is like a pancake , made with egg and fromage frais I think. You can also sweeten with splenda.

Too much sugar in baked beans so not allowed. In the attack phase you're not allowed pulses either .

I think most veg are allowed as long as not too starchy.

BuckBuckMcFate · 27/07/2011 15:11

Hey all!

I'm still P&Ving it everyday, can't work myself up to doing a PP only dayConfused

Still haven't got any scales either but the tape measure says 4 inches off my hips and 3 from my waist so I'm happy.

I saw a link on here for linda's low carb recipe site. I haven't had chance to have a really good look at it but it did have loads of recipes on there. I'm going to have a browse before I go food shopping as I too am bored of tuna and eggs.

Any nice recipes very much appreciated!

Keep it up everyoneSmile
