Hi all. I know there are several other Dukan threads out there, but I wondered if anyone else is starting this week due to Daily Mail media coverage.
Anyone else on the attack phase???

Hi everyone - just bought the book and am aiming to start monday - a couple of question for you

a) can only find low fat cottage cheese - is that ok?
b) can you use quorn (sausage mostly)
c) Mullerlight coconut yogurt??? It has the same fat & carbs as the vanilla

thanks

foreverondiet · 04/08/2011 17:55

annaje

a) if the cottage cheese is only around 1.5% fat its fine, think about it, there is fat in meat and thats allowed..... I personally wouldn't worry about having a little more fat in the cottage cheese, because I rarely eat meat so my dukan diet was very low in fat. If you eat a lot of meat then maybe a good idea to watch the fat elsewhere, ie in the cottage cheese.

b) I used quorn mince and quorn chunks which are low in carbs - basically just mycroprotein and eggs, not sure whats in the sausage, avoid if it contains added starch/carbs. I also had the marinated tofu as a snack...

c) yoghurts - all mullerlight contains added sugar (fructose) as well as sweetner. Enjoy as a treat, but its cheating. TBH I haven't found any flavored yoghurt that has no added sugar at all. Also yoghurt contains a lot of milk sugar - (the best yoghurts are total 0% greek), only 4g of carbs per 100g. Cottage cheese is lower in carbs than yoghurt (similar to the greek yoghurt).

So yes does allow other yoghurts, but for me I got better weight loss with less dairy (all my dairy was natural yoghurt & cottage cheese) and more vegetables, and so gave up on the PP days! You'll have to see what works for you.

So yes, have the mullerlight as treat, but living on yoghurts is not going to result in the best weight loss.

Hi all, some of you are doing so well!!
I am on day 19 and have lost 10lb so far (only 1 stone 13lb to go)!
As far as I am concerned it is a really good diet although I do have the odd 'lapse' day. ie. yesterday when I had 2 glasses of wine and little girls pizza crust which she had left!

I just cannot sit with friends who are drinking and say 'oh just diet soda for me please'

Oh well, I am getting there slowly!!!

ggirl · 07/08/2011 14:34

ok am getting slightly fed up.
Haven't lost anything for 5 days.
Lost 7lbs in attack phase and nowt since.

HighHeidYin · 07/08/2011 15:14

Hello all Smile

Have read all 5 pages of this thread and you have inspired me to give Dukan a go. Am waiting for the diet book and recipe book to be delivered but like anaje will start attack tomorrow.

Still trying to get my head around it all but am willing to give it a good go. Have tried every diet imagineable and have various successes but always put the weight back on. Been on ww recently and although I lost a fair bit it is slowly gaining yet again. Like the idea that this plan consolidates the weight loss - that was the clincher for me.

The calculator says I have 2 stones to lose to get to 9.7 and should be on attack for 4 days. Should be at goal after 89 days of cruise on 9th of November. Then 128 consolidation days takes me to 16th March. (Writing this for my own benefit as will have forgotten it all by tomorrow!)

Off to stock up!

Bloodymary · 07/08/2011 15:40

Hi HighHeidYin, glad you have been inspired by this thread, as I said earlier, in my opinion IT DOES WORK!
And you do not get hungry, tho, it is strict.
I had to do 4 days of attack as well, I do not think that I could have done any longer, I was soo looking forward to salad!
Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

ggirl sorry that you are stuck at the moment. Please keep at it!!!

Hi been on the diet for 2 weeks nearly and have lost 10 pounds!! Did the attack for 9 days though as I have 3 stone to lose Blush Can't believe that on this diet I don't really feel hungry, it's fab. Thought I'd miss fruit as I have always eaten loads of it but not missing it at all, as for bread, I used to eat it at most meals (I didn't think there was anything savoury that wasn't made better by sticking it between 2 slices of white!) but not one crumb has passed my lips Grin and I haven't been tempted at all. Not saying it will be plain sailing all the way but so far so good!!

HighHeidYin · 07/08/2011 16:40

Thanks for the welcome BM Smile

Am so glad I only have to do the attack for 4 days - don't think I could possibly manage without veg any longer.

Need to go shopping tomorrow for oatbran and fat fee yoghurts and cottage cheese. I think the yoghurt will make it a bit more bearable as plan to make sauces with it.

I did buy bacon but have just discovered it isn't on the list Hmm

dizzy what an amazing result!! The only thing that does panic me about this plan is going without fruit. Perhaps I won't miss it as much as I think I will too.

Karbea · 07/08/2011 18:01

Hello,

I posted on the other dukan thread, but no reply yet. Anyway, is it worth buying the book? And does it tell you exactly what to (breakfast eat xyz, dinner eat abc and the recipe is... Etc) or just which foods you can eat?

Thanks

DizzyDummy · 07/08/2011 23:55

Hi Karbea ,I got an email version of the Dukan Book from Ebay for less than £2.00 which I found great, if you want to PM me your email address I would be happy to send you a copy. It doesn't give you recipes but there are loads of Dukan recipes on the internet.
HighHeidYin Many thanks!! Have you tried turkey bacon? It's a pretty good alternative to normal bacon.

Karbea · 08/08/2011 07:13

dizzy that is very kind of you, will pm you now. Thanks.

HighHeidYin · 08/08/2011 09:42

dizzy am off to the supermarket to stock up for the next 4 days so will definitely get some.

Eggs for breakfast and water. Can't have coffee as only have semi skimmed milk in Hmm

Waiting for books!

DizzyDummy · 08/08/2011 10:59

Morning Karbea, hope you get on OK with the diet Grin HighHeidYin My turkey bacon was a saviour yesterday, everyone else had the full English blowout breakfast but I had 4 rashers of turkey bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and a poached egg. I wasn't hungry until tea time and everyone esle was ravenous an hour or so after the fry-up!!

DizzyDummy · 08/08/2011 11:04

BTW, how much have you got to lose? I am wondering whether it is harder if you only have a few pounds to lose, as I said at the start I had 3 stone to lose (now 2 stone 1.5 lbs, yay!) and as the weight is coming off fairly steady and rapidly it is easy to stay positive and strong willed, does it get harder when you get nearer to your target I wonder?

HighHeidYin · 08/08/2011 11:22

Yum that sounds gorgeous! I have 2 stones and a pound to lose so hoping that I might lose a fair bit whilst on attack. I would imagine it does get a bit harder (and certainly slower) towards the end. But then again, the thought of being so close to goal must be motivation in itself I would think.

Had smoked mackerel (which I forgot I had) and eggs for breakfast. Was lovely!

And my books have arrived!!! Can't believe how quickly they were sent. Only ordered them on Friday! So will have a good look through them this afternoon.

wickedfairy · 09/08/2011 11:39

Hello,

I am on day2 of Attack - don't have any books, etc, have just been reading about it on here really. I am following the 7-day diet plan on mydukandiet website and so far, I feel ok. Bit of a woolly head, but I think that is also down to me having a head cold. Not really been hungry, the odd pang but that was soon sorted by my afternoon pancake thing. Drinking loads of water as well, as recommended.

I would like to lose a stone (am currently 5'8'' and 10.5 stone) - do you think the week on attack is too much? DH doing it too, but he has a little more weight to lose than I do. Most of my weight (fat) is round my middle, so I am hoping a bit longer on attack would sort it out, before moving onto the next phase. What do you all think? Would appreciate some feedback from you experts!! TIA

DizzyDummy · 09/08/2011 11:50

Hi Wickedfairy just wanted to say hi, I'm not an expert so don't know whether 7 days is too long on attack but I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows more about it (if pushed though I would think it is slightly too long). Karbea and HighHeidYin how are you 2 getting on?

SofaKingOld · 09/08/2011 19:06

Hello fellow Dukaners/Dukanettes (not sure of the terminology)

So glad this thread is here for support. I'm on day 4 of attack and struggling to cope with the lack of veg! Not so bothered about fruit to be honest and I thought I would be. Only one day to go until something green can pass my lips. Impressed with the loss so far - about 5lb. Got a goal of 3 stone to lose. Just seen my holiday photos which has helped my resolve Wink.

I must say, I hadn't realised just how much my blood sugar levels were affecting my hunger levels before I started. I've not been hungry once on this diet which is more than can be said for other diets.

I've been messing about with the galette thingy's as my non-stick frying pan is a bit rubbish. I've been experimenting with sweet ones, adding a hefty amount of cinnamon and them baking them at about biscuit size. They're actually quite nice! Going to try it with ginger too, possibly cardamom and will report back.

The only thing I'm missing is my wine - why can't alcohol be a protein?!! (Before anybody corrects me I know why - only saying).

My Dad did the diet last year and is still at his target weight. I can lose weight but put it back on so am determined to do the consolidation.

Here's to being in our little black dresses for the Christmas parties Wine or should that be Brew?

DizzyDummy · 09/08/2011 19:31

SofaKingOld I completely sympathise with your longings for wine, last Friady night I was tempted but then thought how disappointed I would be if I put on a couple of pounds the next morning! It is hard though.

My non-stick pan is crap too but I have been giving it a couple of sprays of 1 cal cooking oil (not allowed, I know) and it has been fine. However I have been making oatbran porridge recently instead of the galettes and I have been pleasantly suprised how good it is with a bit of sweetener added, bit like Ready-Brek from when I was a kid!

Huge well-done for your Dad, how much did he lose?

SofaKingOld · 09/08/2011 20:12

Hi DizzyDummy

Good on you for resisting the wine! I have my first social tomorrow and driving so won't be problem. To be honest I was drinking far more than is healthy so it's not going to do me any harm to not drink. I think the only problem is that at least with WW you can save your points up and have a tipple at the weekend and you can't with Dukan.

I might try the porridge. It's taking me ages to do breakfast as it's been mainly eggs and I set off late for work today. Do you make it warm with milk?

I'm not sure how much my Dad lost but he's kept it off for over a year.

cordiality · 09/08/2011 20:48

Hi, can I join? Just getting to the end of my first attack day, hasn't been too bad but I'm definitely hoping to see results quickly to help me with my resolve!

Can I ask a quick question? I'm a bit confused about the yoghurts. I have bought lots of different types (waitrose own brand, shape delights, activia), they're all 0% fat. I get that I should only have one fruit one a day, but as many vanilla/coconut ones as I like... but are they meant to be sugar free as well as fat free? It doesn't seem to say so in the book, but on a Dukan forum I was reading it does. And some of them seem to have MUCH higher carbs than others, does it matter?

Really good to read the stories of lost lbs here by the way, I'm filled with hope, and I desperately need it!

HighHeidYin · 09/08/2011 23:54

Hello! Been a really busy day and haven't managed to get on here.

Getting on fine - at the end of day 2 now and have lost 3lbs already Shock

Will pop on tomorrow and read all the new comments. Night night!

DizzyDummy · 10/08/2011 00:00

Sofa I too was indulging in the wine too much I think and that is a one way road to chubsville in my case Blush. I tried WW aswell and although you can save up your points, I was saving the points and having the wine but then I'd get the nibbles and blow it. I find that total abstinance (sp?) for a while works better for me. I like a glass when I am cooking tea so I just have a diet pop instead. With the porridge I put the oatbran in a small pan, just cover with water and boil (topping up with water when required & whisking all the while) for a couple of minutes. Add a dash of skimmed milk when it's in the bowl and sprinkle on sweetener. Gorgeous!!

Cordiality The only yogurt I found that was suitable was the Vanilla Activia, I thought I couldn't have ones which had fruit bits in???Could be wrong though. I have cut down on the dairy intake as I found the weight loss is slightly better without them. Welcome though and good luck!!!

DizzyDummy · 10/08/2011 00:02

HighHeidYin Wow, well done!!! You must be chuffed to bits! Onwards and upwards and all that!!

foreverondiet · 10/08/2011 00:08

activia vanilla have added sugar as well (as aspartame). TBH I couldn't find any yoghurts with no added sugar. I bought natural yoghurt and added vanilla and sweetner.
