I've had the 30 day shred for around a month. I've done three days at the start of the month and then "missed" a day and didnt pick it back up.

I have a wedding in a month and I have to shift the tummy.Plus i've recently had my hair cropped and now my face looks like a turnip.(bad dying escapade!)

Who's with me?Lets do it together and spur each other on!!

Starting tomorrow!

all the other threads are further on so I thought i's start a new one.

Oooooh....I got my shiny new weights today. No more bean tins for me.

Bring on day 3!

kid · 06/08/2011 20:40

Where did you get them?
There are a lot to chose from, I just want the cheapest! I'm using extra light wrist weights from next at the moment!

posterofawolef · 06/08/2011 20:42

L1D6 - now I'm feeling guilty when Jillian asks if I can feel the difference from day 1, not really is my answer! Still can't do all of the circuit 1 cardio.

CareyHunt · 06/08/2011 21:52

Kid Argos. They are 1.1 kg each, and bright pink! I think they were about £8.

I'm telling myself they will make all the difference tomorrow!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 06/08/2011 22:51

Thanks kid!

Think my weights were from Argos too, but mine are about 2k (got them a long time ago though). Check that you are getting a pair though as sometimes they are sold singly! Boots sometimes have exercise stuff too - if you have any Nectar points (for Argos) or Boots points you might even be able to use them?

Off to bed now to get over the cold, as I'm determined to shred again tomorrow after missing today!

mamasunshine · 07/08/2011 08:54

Had a day off shred yesterday, went out for a run in the morning and struggled - have shin splints...ouch! So no more running for a bit, try and let it heal bit.

Going to do L1 day 5 today as feeling addicted so can't give that up!!! I bought my weights for about 20pounds inc P&P from amazon, they arrived the 2nd day. Come in a carry box with 3 sets of weights: 1kg, 1.5kg and 2.5kg, they are by York, I'm really pleased with them.

I feel as though my body shape is starting to change (ever so slightly), notice it around by wasit/back area when I put hands on hips...feeling slimmer Grin

WhoWhoWhoWho · 07/08/2011 09:08

I think I have done 5 days and today will be day six (i think - have lost track of days with ds being off school). I'm still feeling the same as I did on day 1! Legs and arms looking more toned already though - not sure about abs as they are hiding under some serious insulation. Blush

Does anyone vary the weights they use during the workout? I'm finding chest flys easy so am thinking of upping to my next size weights for those, and still using lighter ones for other excercises which I'm still very much feeling while I do them.

I'm finding it's my calfs that are suffering when I get out of bed in the morning and for the rest of the day too. Hmm

Anyone else's DCs finding mummy shredding very entertaining?? DS finds me very amusing.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 07/08/2011 09:12

mamasunshine - I have just googled shinsplints and it sounds like the pain I am feeling in my calves, all along the front of my leg! Do you think it's because I started off working out with no trainers on? Blush

CareyHunt · 07/08/2011 09:16

lL1 d3. I thought this was supposed to be getting easier! This was the hardest day yet. My poor muscles are begging for mercy.

It might be my imagination, but I'm sure I can already see results. My abs feel tighter.

It hurts, but I love it !

wildstrawberryplace · 07/08/2011 09:22

I tried this in June but didn't finish. Started again at level 1 the day before yesterday, perhaps foolishly after doing my C25K and a 40 min cycle...honestly I thought I was gonna die! My quads were so stiff and sore yesterday that I could hardly get up and down the stairs, so I took the day off exercise but I'm going to do Level 1 Day 2 today.

kid · 07/08/2011 09:39

I didn't get to do D3 L1 yesterday so after my gym class this morning, I'll do it then. I'll definitely be begging for a long soak in the bath afterwards!

I'll check out the weights in Argos and amazon. I've been going gym for about 5 or 6 months now so I know my body shape has changed but there's still plenty of room for more change!

mamasunshine · 07/08/2011 11:08

whowho - Yes the name shin splints is generic for any pain in calf/shin area. I'm going to buy some supports, maybe insoles for trainers and not run for a while. If it starts getting too painful during shred going to get an exercise bike and ride the bike instead of star jumps/skiiping etc cardio. Also may try and fit in some swimming instead of running if they take a while to heal. Can be caused by doing too much too soon, not having correct support eg trainers etc.

My dc's love watching and joining in when I'm doing dvd, but I do try and do it when at least 1 is in bed/out as I end up bumping into them with my big bum Grin

Also I've thought about using heavier weights on different sections as find some parts easier, may give it a go soon.

carey I found Day 3 hardest too Hmm but day 4 easier

twinkle1010 · 07/08/2011 12:53

Hello everyone

Have just done L1 Day 4 so determined to do it every day without fail. Im feeling very unfit though!

My DD also loves watching/joining in with the Shredding! Shes a right task master as well shouting 'encouragement' lol

My weights are 2kg and my arms bloody kill after the lunge/arm raise bit! (not sure what the technical term is lol) :)

kid · 07/08/2011 13:19

L1 d3 completed. My poor tummy hurts when I sneeze! I'm even doing all the sit-ups as I just can't. The press-ups are really hard too, even the easy version on the knees Grin

SlinkyB · 08/08/2011 08:24

Morning all

About to do L2 D9. Reverted back to L1 again yesterday as it was Sunday Hmm and had a friend over doing it with me. Found it surprisingly easy, so don't think I'll be going back to L1 for a while now Smile

I too think it's a good idea to have different sized hand-weights for different exercises - I'm going to start alternating between my 1kg and 1.5kg depending.

Anyone else finding it slightly addictive?!

Hope you had a great time at the wedding clarabumps ,and metalsian, you are all recovered now and ready to start shredding again (did you do it Friday night?).

MetalSian · 08/08/2011 09:04

=/.... I have actually tarted again yet.
I am not sore but I have a weird hurt/ache in the middle of my chest =[.
I am debating whether to leave it until it goes away, or just start again today but from L2 D1 again.

I suppose trying won't hurt. It just means I can't breathe when doing the cardio, my breath catches, can't explain it any better xD.

MetalSian · 08/08/2011 09:10

Started* xD Oh dear!

MetalSian · 08/08/2011 09:10

And haven't*.... what is going on today, I can't type.

CountBapula · 08/08/2011 10:29

Just done level 1 day 1. Didn't feel too bad while I was doing it (except abs, which I've always hated) but 15 minutes later I feel all wobbly Shock

My living room is tiny so I did have a few space issues - bashed the lampshade a couple of times during the jumping jacks Blush

I bet I'll be hobbling around within a couple of hours ...

WhoWhoWhoWho · 08/08/2011 11:42

Well done to everyone that's keeping on shredding Smile

metalsian - I would see if your chest improvs before you start as it's very intense.

I've given myself a rule that I WILL do it everyday unless I'm feeling unwell, if I don't get chance in a morning I do it in the evening but when i do it in the evening I wake up so achey that the thought of that spurrs me on to do it first thing.

I'm feeling more toned and that's keping me motivated. I have about two stone to lose too but I don't mind that coming off slowly so I'm not a super strict diet.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 08/08/2011 11:44

mamasunshine - I've started working out with trainers and socks on, and have put a thick (nonslip) blanket down too on top of my very thin carpet. I had none of these on before so I'm hoping that will help. If it doesn't I will look into the supports I think.

Well done Countbapula on day 1 completed. Smile

MetalSian · 08/08/2011 18:04

I tested by jumping up and down but it still made my chest hurt, so leaving it again =[.
So much for L2 going well, only did 2 days.
Hopefully be better tomorrow!

SlinkyB · 08/08/2011 19:42

You think we should post our Top Tips for any newbies? Mine would be:

  1. Wear socks and trainers
  2. Clear the room as much as possible (I think you need more room for L2)
  3. Never eat just before shredding
  4. Stretch more before and after
  5. Prepare to sweat! And hit the shower straight after...

Any more anyone?

twoboots · 08/08/2011 20:30

well done to all!
good idea slinkyb:

  1. keep an eye on your "form" its very easy to get into injury prone positions in strength and abs as you are so knackered, take a few seconds to get correct your position: if my body cant do what my brain is telling it i revert to the anita-style.

  2. wear a sports bra (even if you usually dont)

had horrible virus last 3 days so havent shredded since friday morning, i will start again once i stop producing copious amounts of mucus.

SlinkyB · 08/08/2011 21:07

Ew, that sounds nasty twoboots - get well soon!
