I've had the 30 day shred for around a month. I've done three days at the start of the month and then "missed" a day and didnt pick it back up.

I have a wedding in a month and I have to shift the tummy.Plus i've recently had my hair cropped and now my face looks like a turnip.(bad dying escapade!)

Who's with me?Lets do it together and spur each other on!!

Starting tomorrow!

all the other threads are further on so I thought i's start a new one.

Where's everybody gone?! I must confess I've had the weekend off, so am just mustering up the energy to do L3 D4...

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 22/08/2011 10:29

I am still around! But been away for the weekend too, so not as much shredding for the last few days. I skived on Thursday Blush cos it was our "Friday" night (both had the day off on Friday) and I'd had a mad week trying to do everything and just could not be bothered to do ANYTHING for once!

But then I was very good and squeezed in L5D6 on Friday morning, which I was quite impressed with as we were in a mad rush to get packed for going away. (First time I have done it in the morning incidentally - I didn't like it that much though, felt a bit dehydrated and it was very hot with the sun shining in! Usually I have to do it after the kids are in bed, which I prefer except it sometimes ends up being a bit too close to bedtime). But then missed Sat and Sun as we were away - was meant to be doing some biking instead but DH forgot a piece for the bike seat and then broke his bike, so we had to go to the beach instead!

Nose back to the grindstone again tonight though hopefully...

There's a Level 5?! Shock Wink

I'm still trying to decide when the best time of day to shred is. I usually do it when ds goes down for his morning nap, around 9am. But I can't eat before as it's too close to exercising, so then am starving hungry and thinking of food throughout the workout. I then have a shower, as eating breakfast straight after makes me feel sick, so don't end up having brekkie til around 10am.

I did it at lunchtime yesterday and found I had more energy, but not a great time as def need a shower after. I may try doing it this evening to see how that goes, but have crap thin hair that prefers to be washed in the morning. Ho hum, think I'm going to have to stick with 9am! (and get up earlier to eat my breakfast).

Oh, my knees are still killing. Asked my Zumba instructor the other day and she said it's all the lunge type moves, so to just 'tap' your foot at these...seems really lame though, and JM uses a LOT of lunge-type exercises doesn't she?!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 23/08/2011 14:05

Argh typo! Grin

Well I didn't do it yesterday in the end cos got to 9pmish (no chance to do it earlier cos of work, kids etc) and was just feeling exhausted, nearly as though I was getting ill, so thought better not to push it. Bit cross that means I've had 3 days off in a row though, must get back to it tonight!

MetalSian · 23/08/2011 14:14

... I have kinda given up.
had a bad few weeks with everything and the Shred was the first thing to go down the pan.

So I made it to L2D4.
Suppose I should really start again, but I have no motivation what so ever at the moment.

SlinkyB · 23/08/2011 16:43

Ah, that's ok metalsian you did really well! I'm up to L3 D5, am determined to finish it all but think it will have taken me 30 weeks, not 30 days.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 23/08/2011 22:41

L2D7 for me, yay! And for the first time it did actually feel very slightly less evil than before, maybe the 3 days off was actually good for me. Still don't think I will be ready to move up to L3 in 3 more days though!

MetalSian I stopped and started loads of times, if/when you want to get back into it you still can, but don't beat yourself up about it. Hope things take a turn for the better for you in the meantime.

ellenbrody · 24/08/2011 09:08

I am about to embark on L2D10 (not putting it it off and sitting on MN - honest). I had 1 day off at the weekend when we went out for the day, but I did do LOTS of walking.
SlinkyB, now you are halfway through the last level, can you SEE a difference in your body?

SlinkyB · 24/08/2011 09:46

Umm... not sure ... off to pose vainly in mirror then will report back.

SlinkyB · 24/08/2011 15:49

OK, so, I've been on a diet and lost a stone in 8 weeks, and been Shredding at the same time. As a result, I'm definitely slimmer and more toned, but not sure if I wasn't dieting (ie slim to start off with) how much I could attribute to JM.

I'm happier with my waistline, but my arms do seem to be getting bigger, which isn't great. Maybe instead of all the plank moves/push ups I'll start doing more cardio?

I'm hoping to carry on and lose another 7 - 14lbs, and am sure the shredding is/will help massively.

Anyone else noticing physical changes?

ellenbrody · 24/08/2011 18:51

I am concerned that I am seeing changes because I am so desperate to, IYSWIM. I have been trying to track calories on MyFitnessPal and I rarely go over, however, it's not weight that is the problem really, its the distribution of it and lack of any sort of muscle tone.

I hover around 9stone and have done so for the last 12 yearrs or so (am 5'4") so am not really overweight, but I carry it ALL on my stomach and thighs, while the rest of me is quite thin, my face is almost skeletal sometimes!

I am in desperate need of toning in the hope that my thighs may thin down and my stomach may flatten, but I despair of ever seeing any stomach muscles as they are hidden under layers of fat! I struggle with what to do as if I lose too much weight I end up looking gaunt as it comes off my face first, and unfortunately, my boobs also!

I think the top part of my tummy and my waist area is trimmer, but I have not noticed much other difference although I must be fitter and healthier?
I don't think I have lost weight really, maybe 2lb in the last 3 - 4 weeks.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 25/08/2011 15:31

I keep swinging between thinking I can see/feel a bit of difference, and then thinking I look just as fat as ever Sad

Actually I do think my arms and shoulders look a bit bigger more defined, and I have sometimes found my sleeves a bit tight at the top lately Shock so hopefully that means I am getting a bit more muscly, rather than fatter, there...

And on good days, I think there is a LITTLE bit more definition to my stomach, it hasn't got noticeably less sticky-outy or wobbly in the middle, but round the outside I sometimes think it is getting a bit more defined. I also think the "muffin top" effect at my sides may have gone down a little bit, there were a few combinations of tops and jeans I had pretty much ruled out wearing which actually don't seem to look quite as bad now.

But sadly no noticeable difference to my bum/thighs yet, and I haven't noticed my clothes fitting any better there...

Still I have not got to level 3 yet so still got some harder work to go! Less than 3 weeks till holiday now though, so not sure how much I can really achieve by then...

ellenbrody · 25/08/2011 19:00

OMG Level 3. Phoned the whole thing in as it was SO hard. hate jumping things and plank stuff and thats all it consisted of!!
Spent quite a lot of time squinting at the telly and thinking 'WHAT!!' and not actually doing anything. Grrr.

SlinkyB · 25/08/2011 19:09

Ah, you'll get used to it Ellen! Although I still tend to slack a lot of the time! If I'm finding a move too difficult, I just do fast star jumps or skipping for half of it...yes, I'm phoning it in too! Blush

Clarabumps · 26/08/2011 16:41

im still on level two after a leave of absence!Started again on Monday..argh!!!

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 26/08/2011 23:56

Um I think I am on L2D9 today (!) although must admit have lost count slightly (and had Wine)... can't believe I've done it that many times already, still don't feel anywhere near ready for L3!

I did put my new, never-yet-worn bikini on for a try today though and although I won't say it looked great, it looked bearable at least! Still got a bit of a wobbly wrinkle-tummy, but I do think it's a bit better than it was; I look like someone who's had 2 kids recently but not like a complete whale at least. So that is some encouragement!

ellenbrody · 28/08/2011 21:45

I have just done L3D4!! WooHoo.

I am finding this one really tough and still cant get to grips with the plank one where you are resting on your dumbells and then lifting your leg. I just don't seem to have good coordination or the strength to hold the plank position for very long.

I ache in strange places, which I have not done with the other 2 levels.

I think by the end of next weekend I will have finished all 30 days and I need to think of what to do next, any ideas anyone?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 28/08/2011 22:20

Well done Ellen! Nearly there!

I did L2D10 yesterday, though don't necessarily feel ready to go up to L3 quite yet. Then did a day of L1 today just to see how it compared, actually I still found some of the strength bits quite hard, but the abs and cardio definitely seemed easier than L2. And it is much more upright, I still hate all the planky stuff that makes me get a headrush in L2.

Might do one or two more days of L2 next and then try L3 if I dare!

kid · 28/08/2011 23:02

I took 2 weeks off from shredding as I jetted off to Cyprus. I'll be back to it daily by Tuesday and plan to really stick with it.

mamasunshine · 31/08/2011 11:58

Ah...I fell off the shred waggon a few weeks ago Blush!!! Had a lot going on so plenty of excuses....but now I'm determined to start again and get my 30 days worth out of my dvd Grin At work today but i WILL do it again tonight! I have a beach holiday at Xmas...but having had 3 dc in 3 years and youngest only 7mo I'm very scared!

ellenbrody · 31/08/2011 19:06

Go for it mamasunshine!!!

L3 D6 done, still can't do lots of it. Some movements require strength in my wrist that I just aint got!!

I think I am just going to carry on L3 till I crack it, it's my least fave level.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 31/08/2011 22:54

Woohoo did L3 for the first time today so feeling pleased with myself! Actually I didn't find it quite as bad as I expected, think it's true what other people said earlier that the biggest jump is from level 1 to 2. Though saying that I did do the "easy" version on some bits, like the press-ups, and was a bit rubbish at the jumps!

ellenbrody · 01/09/2011 10:08

MyNameIs - I still do the easy versions!! The sumo squat jumps, although not much to look at, absolutely kill my thighs!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 01/09/2011 13:34

Oh yes those were really evil! And the rockstar jumps, OMG I couldn't do those very well at all...

When you do the supermans can you actually get your chest off the ground? I can get my shoulders up but no further than that really...

kid · 01/09/2011 20:58

I have no idea what all these moves are but I'm scared Grin
Still trying to convince myself to get back to shredding but it's not happening yet!
