Hi all, I cannot find a new starters thread for September 2026 (did my first mounjaro jab today) Is there one ?

Hi all, hoping I can join along for the ride. I've taken my first jab of mounjaro this morning and already noticed the food noise quietening. Possibly the placebo effect but I was half way through my day when I realised I had barely given food a second thought. I did make banana bread this evening and am struggling with my willpower a bit 😅

NotStandingTall · 08/09/2026 19:29

Hi everyone 😊
I hope you have all had a great week! I’ve just taken my third jab and I’m hoping and praying that I don’t feel really nauseous tomorrow like I did last week.
I’ve had a pretty good week, definitely more hungry towards the end of the week. I’m trying to drink more water but to be honest I’m just not thirsty so I’m going to have to force myself.
I’ve had a strange metal taste in mouth… can anyone relate to this? I think I’ve read somewhere that this can be a thing?
anyhow.. another 2 pounds off this week so I’m happy 👍🏻

Hi can I join please. I took my 3rd wegovy injection Friday. I’ve had intermittent nausea since I started and constipation. I’ve lost 5lb in total. I’m on 0.25mg and just ordered 0.5mg for the next one. Does anyone else feel incredibly tired after they have their injection? I have to lie down and usually sleep for a couple of hours. I haven’t told anyone about the injections in real life, except Dh so would be nice to be able to discuss with others going through the same.

Hi! I can totally relate to the tiredness. I took my second jab this time last week and I slept for hours on the Wednesday, felt sick most of the day as well. I’ve just taken my third jab so I’m hoping we don’t have a repeat of last week.. I’ll let you know 😊
I’m going to try and drink lots of water tonight to see if that helps 🤞

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · 08/09/2026 20:10

I’m weeing more but that’s because I am consciously drinking a lot more. Otherwise all good.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 08/09/2026 21:26

I’m a bit down today. End of my second week (did third MJ jab last night) and I’ve stayed the same after losing 3lb in the first week.

I’ve not eaten more than 1300 calories a day all week.

I know it’s early days, I know it’s a starter dose. It’s very demotivating though and is bringing back memories of every diet I’ve been on for the past 24 years. It’s hard to pick yourself up.

I’m determined to avoid weighting myself until next week. I’m terrible for weighing myself regularly and obsessing over the number.

MrsALambert · 09/09/2026 00:22

Hi everyone, I have taken my first mounjaro dose this evening. I have 7+ stone to lose and have been on the diet train nearly all my adult life. I’m hoping this helps! Looking forward to experiencing this with other newbies

Slipperslopey · 09/09/2026 07:36

Weigh day for me this morning and thrilled that I’ve lost 1.8kg or 4lbs. I know probably lots of that is water weight but still it’s a motivating start after week one. I did find I needed to exercise some willpower last night to not eat snacks so first dose is definitely wearing off now. Will jab tonight as I prefer to do it at bedtime in case of any side effects. Fingers crossed for another loss next week

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · 09/09/2026 14:57

@PatChaunceysFruitCakehang in there. Your body is desperately trying to hang on to weight because it doesn’t know it’s good to lose it. You will see a loss soon, keep going.

hiddeneverythin · 09/09/2026 15:11

My medication arrived on Friday but only got round to taking it last night. Think I was subconsciously afraid of injecting myself, but it was fine in the end! Not feeling anything so far? What should I feel and when?

Gizmosgremlins · 09/09/2026 16:03

First week done for me and its gone well..I think through a combination of the medicine working but also a bit of fear factor and a bit of a placebo effect..I've had no alcohol for 10 days (First time that's happened in a while, much smaller portions, much less snacking and no eating huge amounts of choc in the evening. I felt it definitely wear off yesterday so looking forward to my next jab later.

It currently feels like I still require a fair amount of willpower and to make good choices...the MJ is just making it a little easier to do that.

Here’s hoping! You just get so fed with up it all if you aren’t seeing the scales shift.

As I say I am going to avoid the scales for a week to avoid them being a source of further annoyance.

Brackenandbrave · 09/09/2026 20:03

Hmm…

first week, pretty good. First jab was last Monday. No unusual side effects and felt some appetite suppression, smaller portions, I didn’t snack.

felt the effects wearing off by Sunday, so took a second jab on Monday. Absolutely no effect. Still hungry, still tempted by snacks etc…

weird. Not sure where to go now

Sparkle16 · 10/09/2026 07:02

I took my first jab on Saturday afternoon, feeling slight nausea around mid morning and the Sunday I was very tired,
but notice straight away as not wanting lots of snacks and definitely not
wanting to eat crisps on my way home from work. And not finishing a full meal. I have 2 stone to lose.

I am completely the same, following my 2nd jab Tuesday, apart from headaches last 2 nights, which I had the first week too. I think we just have to trust the process, and accept it takes longer to our bodies to build up the suppression etc

Keep inching along. It’s a long walk and each step is important. Readjust your expectations and maybe concentrate that by December you will be 2 stone down?

Aintgointogoa · 10/09/2026 14:07

Welll done everybody and am interested in all the comments re symptoms, progress etc. Echoing @Gizmosgremlins, I too feel that will power does come into it, it's a not a magic spell, and I have been thinking twice about some impulsive choices (and not choosing the wrong one !) But I enjoy that in the process too. I have not had a drop apart from an unfortunate glass of wine last Saturday, and am very happy with that.
Since I have been unwell since my first dose (finishing AB's today and I finally feel normal this morning, all the yays !) my week has been skewed in that way, so a reset for the second dose this afternoon.
My leetle surprise on the scales this morning was a loss of 1.8 k / 3 lb 10 oz. And that made me feel better after a perfectly dreadful week. Which wasn't down to the MJ, but I couldn't tell if the side effects were making me feel worse. Level playing field from today. I am enjoying looking out recipes that fit my bill (making borscht this afternoon !) and I had a 'massive' salad yday with hard boiled egg / tuna / feta / olives that gave me a copious lunch and dinner and went down without a squeak.
And agree with @NNYYCCand @Tree2026, remember we're playing the long game, every little counts, and learning new behaviours along the way which will help us keep on track. Keep chins up and keep checking in 😘

HappyBirds21 · 10/09/2026 19:39

Hi everyone, just done my first wegovy jab! Feeling quite eeeeek about it but will see how it goes.
I have a BMI of 28 and work out really hard - i just struggle at the weekends with sticking to my good work in the week. So I am hoping this gives me a helping hand with that.
Was away on hols last weel and managed to chunk on half a stone, so hoping that shifts pretty quickly 😀
Looking forward to the journey.

SleepyWhippetMum · 10/09/2026 21:06

Well done everyone on your successes so far!

@Brackenandbrave don't be disheartened! As PPs have said, this is a long game and losing too fast isn't really recommended. Slow and steady wins the race ☺️

I have a question - I'm 6 days in today, due my second dose tomorrow. I'm going away in a couple of weekends time though and don't want the severe side effects/ most intense suppression while I'm away. My plan was to stretch each dose for 8 days so I'll be taking it the Sunday before I go away so should be feeling fine and able to eat/ drink a bit more while I'm there.

However my friend has said it's best to shorten the dates not stretch, but if I do 6 days (take again tonight) I'll be taking it the Tuesday before I go.

I don't want the trip to derail any weight loss success, but I also want to enjoy a nice meal and wine in moderation and I'm worried taking the dose so soon before going will ruin it.

Any advice welcome 🤗

AxisofEvelKnievel · 11/09/2026 15:07

Down to 75 kg from 77 kg last Friday. That is a loss of 3.5 kg in total since August 29th. If this happens again with Mounjaro jab no 3 (this Saturday) I will be staying on 2.5 for my second month. I’ve had no side effects apart from audible burps in the first half of the week, but they haven’t been sulphurous—just noisy!

InALonelyWorld · 11/09/2026 20:41

Finally took my first jab tonight after putting it off since sunday. I have the weekend off work so feeling motivated to make a positive start. Will keep a track and update on my general experience & side effects over the next week 🤞🏼

MrsCillian · 11/09/2026 22:00

Same here was putting mine off too as was so nervous but did it last night, hardly felt it (got the other half to do it 😂) hoping I don’t get any side effects, best of luck to you and everyone else. I’ve got about 4/5stone too lose tried everything so far nothing has worked think my body needs a reset button pushed so really hoping this works as it’s my last resort.

Weighed myself after two weeks of jabs and I’ve put on weight. Hmmm..

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · Yesterday 10:33

800g off this week so that’s 2.8 kg or 6 lb off in two weeks which is pretty good I think. Happy with that
