July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Morning, I've just had my second jab, I've lost 4lbs in the first week which I am pleased about. Well done to everyone who is making progress towards their goal.

On the whole my first week has been positive but I did struggle with cramps for the first few days along with constipation. I upped my water intake, had some porridge and prunes for breakfast and lentils for lunch and things improved 😅. I did also have to remind myself to eat (who knew that was a thing?).
As the week has gone on I have settled into better habits. Suppression did decrease but not enough to cause me problems. I'm hoping my second week goes well.

I have read that you should order your next pen after your second jab to ensure delivery in time, does anyone know if that's necessary as I feel like it's a bit early to say what dosage I want for next month?

I'm finding it very helpful to read how you all are getting on so thanks for sharing.

Hello everyone!
I've just been approved for Mounjaro- it's actually my 2nd attempt as I had bad vomiting and diarrhoea the first time.

Since then I have overhauled my diet, eat a lot more veg (30 a week) and been taking symprove to repair my gut microbiome. I'm really hoping that I can tolerate it this time. But I'm going into it with my eyes open, knowing that I'll probably need to take loperamide.

Gone with Voy - expensive but I need all the support I can get. And they prescribe anti emetic too.

I've just done the free version of Me360 too.

Hope it comes soon, I'm ready to start now! Love reading everyone's updates.

Morning all! Week 1 done for me
SW 190
CW 184.8
very happy with 5.2lb loss, that’s probably more than I’ve lost in ages after weeks of trying. So far so good, no real side effects, to be honest it’s a real surprise how well it’s worked. Hoping for 1.5lbs off this week, second jab tonight.

@RedUni was also wondering when to reorder as I’m on holiday when i need to start my next pen. I thought I might order after my 3rd jab which gives me about 8 days for delivery, my first pen came in less than 48hrs and I’m sticking with the same supplier. If I’m still having loss by my 3rd I’m going to stay on the same dose.

RedUn · 07/07/2026 11:24

@YourJollyGoose great weight loss 👏🏼
Yes my first pen came really quickly too. I'm thinking along the same lines as you for timeframes and if I'm losing weight I'm probably not going to change the dose either.
Thanks for your response.

I need to buy some scales for weighing in on Friday, used a friend’s for the application 🙈

I’ve spent week 1 just observing how I feel rather than focusing on weight loss so hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise when I weigh myself.

Having not felt a single hunger pang since Friday, today I’ve observed a very low key increase. Not sure if that’s the drug wearing off or because I’m WFH! 😂

ChocolateIsBad · 07/07/2026 15:08

Getting ready to jab for second time on Thursday. Had mild nausea for first few days and a bit constipated so much that I took two sachets of Movicol last night, all-bran with berries/kiwi and prune juice for breakfast today and finally had success!

Going to need to really focus on fibre. Have been drinking plenty. Not sure if Movicol made any difference but wasn’t going to take the second dose until something happened.

Still feeling suppressed thankfully. Been weighing each morning and weight decreasing bit by bit. Big weigh-in Thursday morning!

Edinvillian · 07/07/2026 19:15

That’s me just taken my second jab and I’m 5lbs down. I had hoped for 7lbs but I did drink both nights at the weekend so I suppose it’s my own fault.
I’ve also got a Bolt code if anyone wants it. They delivered mine really quickly and only took half an hour to apply and be accepted.

I’m going to have to wait for longer, I want it to come out of next months pay packet so will have to wait until the 24th to order.

RedFatball · 07/07/2026 20:17

Struggling a bit this week - jabbed this morning but I have mild diverticular disease and it's flaring up at the moment so I have a very very sore stomach. It will pass in a few days but I have to try and reduce fibre which is in turn making me constipated which hurts more. I'm still tracking and trying to exercise but it's quite painful right now

LovelyLapin · 08/07/2026 07:18

I have a bolt code if anyone needs one - tried to post it the other day but I think it got deleted.

I have been better constipation wise than normal (it’s been an ongoing problem for me for years).

I have been eating two kiwis a day with skin on. I also bought some fibre chews which are lovely!!! I’ve only had one per day though.

Fybogel fibre chews - citrus flavoured chewable tablets contain the soluble fibre Fibersol -2 which retains water and may help to bulk-up stools, making them easier to pass.

I hope your flare up eases @RedFatball

My other go to when I’m struggling is a high dose Vitamin C and Magnesium.

LovelyLapin · 08/07/2026 07:20

My second jab is tonight and I’m going to do my weekly weigh in tomorrow morning (I had a meal out last Wed so weighed more on Thu than Wed)!

I have RENPHO scales that I got from Amazon. I love that they link to an app on my phone.

hussherbye · 08/07/2026 07:28

@LovelyLapin my second one tonight too. I’ve decided to weigh mom/wed/fri and I think that’s helping to keep my motivation up. What’s everyone doing re rotation? I’ve read that it’s better to rotate the area eg thigh then arm then stomach rather than just right thigh left thigh but I’m not really sure why that is? Not too keen to do it anywhere but thighs at the moment!!

I'm also with bolt if anyone needs a code, do you know if they will automatically sort the next delivery?

Nomorepants · 08/07/2026 07:55

@RedFatball thats no fun. Have had it once and it was very unpleasant.

After a very mixed week I’m down 1Lb. Know it’s not much but am not surprised. Suppression had worn off by Sunday. However having been stuck for a year at least it’s moving in the right direction.

bluemoonredsky · 08/07/2026 11:01

is anyone else weighing themselves throughout the week?

im mid-week 1, and the scales are showing -6lbs! Which is amazing, but nit sure if its just water weight.

BritbirdUK · 08/07/2026 13:06

How are we all getting on in this heat? Weirdly I am feeling more hungry than normal. not sure what that is about..... I was up at 5 for a networking meeting this morning. It is a difficult one because the breakfast is (deep fried) hash browns, sausage and egg rolls etc. Luckily there was a banana so I had that and resisted the rest but I did really want it even though I wasn't massively hungry.

Tonight I have marinaded some chicken thighs and got a variety of veg. Planning to roast most of the veg and then have the thighs with some rice.

I just made a Greek salad for lunch and lost interest halfway through. This has NEVER HAPPENED before. It's nuts!

I wasn't sure if it was working but it definitely is. I'm on my period and I wonder if because of that I'm having a slightly weird first week. Some symptoms I got (headache, ocular migraine, mild stomach pain) could easily be period related.

I do still feel a bit shaky, usually that's a sign that I'm ravenously hungry, but I feel full. So I'm still eating, just a bit less. It's so much easier you make better choices. I'm trying to be realistic though and if I fancy a square of chocolate, I'll have one. But I can now very easily leave it at that. Pure sorcery.

I'd love a Bolt code!

MammaGnomes · 08/07/2026 13:24

@Nowimhereandimlost I’ve just made myself a chicken wrap and only managed half. The weather definitely doesn’t help my appetite though.

ive sent you my bolt code hope it helps. I found them really speedy at accepting and shipping.

RedFatball · 08/07/2026 13:44

Stomach easing a bit today but I'm really struggling to eat as I don't want it to hurt more. Also I'm working outside all this week and the heat is kicking my ass. Keep having to have wee breaks in my air conditioned car to try and manage it

I am also with Bolt if anyone wants a code

1lb a week for a year is well over 2 stone. It all adds up.

Flobberworm99 · 08/07/2026 13:53

Hi I would like to join too! I will take my first jab this Sat. It would have been Friday if I was not going out for an evening meal with work colleagues!

I am the same as you OP @BritbirdUK - I don't eat very badly but my problem is eating too much. I enjoy my food, love eating out and trying new places and will finish everythjng on my plate even if full. I also have a tendency to snack / graze and I have huge amounts of food noise... Always thinking about my next meal.

I am 44, 4ft 11 tall and starting weight of 9st 10lbs. BMI is 28. My height, and my reducing metabolism as I am getting older, means that I should eat very little to not put any further weight on.

I am starting MJ for two main reasons: As I am south asian and both my parents have T2 diabetes / cholesterol / hypertension - my risk factor for diabetes and those conditions is high. By losing weight and getting my BMI down should hopefully reduce that risk.

The other reason is that I really hope it helps with the food noise and appetite suppression so I dont eat as much! My aim is to make sure I am eating the right foods and am also joining the gym to do strength and pilates classes. I did start C25K last year and plan to get back into the habit of doing that. For the last few years I have lost weight and then gained and so on but I am really struggling to do get it off now.

Aim is to lose at least 20lbs.

BettinaBumblebee · 08/07/2026 13:58

i downloaded an app called Shotsy which is basically a tracker for WLIs and so far, seems quite good. It tracks your weight, reminds you when your jab is due and you can make a note of any side effects. You can also record where you inject which I know I would struggle with once this becomes more routine.

Miababe · 08/07/2026 14:05

I had my 1st injection on Monday evening. Today I have a little heartburn feeling, though it is difficult to decide whether it is aerophagia from CPAP as I am on Lanzoprazole for the CPAP air discomfort. Feeling a bit fuller through discomfort I think but definitely not very restricted yet. Does that only often kick in at 5mg?

Frolie · 08/07/2026 14:11

I jabbed Monday night, so today is day 2. Yesterday I struggled to eat my usual breakfast of Greek yoghurt and berries. For dinner made homemade pizzas with homemade dough in the pizza oven. I couldn’t eat more than one slice! So weird.
I feel a bit ‘flat’ emotionally and haven’t got my usual energy. I’m usually at the gym 3 times a week but don’t currently have the inclination. Hoping I feel more normal
and energetic next week, as my body becomes used to the MJ.

minnymoobear · 08/07/2026 16:36

Day 3 for me and I’m eating well - not much suppression as I’m eating decent portions.

signed up to team RH and recording on their app to keep rack of protein mainly and record weight. They advocate a daily weigh in and then calculating a weekly average as so many things impact your actual weight which makes sense to me, rather than relying on what the scales say once a week.

Don’t feel less hungry, tbh but am trying to eat good healthy meals and focus on getting 120gram of protein a day.

Been cycling, swimming and to the gym to try to get in the habit of consistent exercise - even though the heat is killing me!

BerfyTigot · 08/07/2026 17:19

I've started! It was delivered at 1pm and I jabbed immediately.

Bring on the side effects! Been eating healthily for the last 3 days to prepare my stomach 🤞
