July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Dropping my dose has been really positive for me. None of the horrible side effects (although took to weeks to wear off) and still losing steadily.
5’1
SW: 150lb
CW: 137lb
(realistical) GW: 125lb
(very idealistic) GW: 120lb

A few people have commented I’ve lost weight so that has boosted me!

Ive got a ten day holiday to the states coming up mid October so accepting that might derail me a bit.

RedFatball · 25/09/2026 14:36

Just wanted to let you all know that Mounjaro is not an impediment to giving blood. I went this morning and was very open about what I was taking and they had no issue with it all as long as it was prescribed within the UK

And today was my 50th donation in 25 years so I am super proud of that!

RedFatball · 25/09/2026 14:37

They did ask about any surgical procedures EVER so I told them about my appendectomy 25 years ago and triggered a very serious set of questions about whether I was fully recovered from that...

missedtherainbow · 27/09/2026 07:35

Weigh in day! Jab no.12 due this evening
SW 18.1stone
CW 14.8lb
3lb loss this week
Down from a size 24/22 to a size 18.
Still a long way to go but getting there.
Didn’t do much exercise last week so really have to get back on it this week. Have been feeling a bit down but will push through and get on with it.

JuicyPie · 27/09/2026 07:48

Weigh day for me too and I shall take jab 11 tonight. Down 3lbs this week which included a big lunch that made me feel full for the whole of the next day, won't be doing that again!
SW 13st 12lbs
CW 11st 10lbs
GW 10st
Feeling like I will reach my initial goal weight and then reassess as still feel like I need to lose alot. I am only 5ft2 so 10st is only just in the normal weight for that height. Really need to start finding time for exercise but at the moment the only time I have is in the night when I sleep 😅
People are commenting that I have lost especially when they see me out of my baggy work scrubs!

LovelyLapin · 27/09/2026 09:09

13 injections for me now.

I did the parkrun! I JEFF’d it - 30:30 ratio. But that works for my heart rate which gets close to 200.

@AelinAG- I think I lost on my US holiday as we did so much walking. There was a gain on the day we got back but I think that was fluid from the travelling and it was gone really quickly.

Still quicker than everybody who is not doing it...

I think the biggest gift MJ is giving me is the ability to stick to an exercise regimen. I'm into my third month of running, swimming, walking and weight training which would have been simply inconceivable before.

yes MJ does some of the heavy lifting, but along with significant weight loss I have also reduced my body fat percentage from 44% to 34%. I'd like to get to 24% eventually, and I have confidence that will come. Not sure I'll ever see a six pack, but I am enjoying the exercise!

BritbirdUK · 28/09/2026 16:42

I have officially been on MJ for 3 months. In that time I have lost the grand total of 4 stone, 8.4lb. My goal was originally 5 stone before Christmas so I am going with my stretch target of 6. But equally if that doesn't happen, as I know I am losing fast currently, then I am ok with that. I feel like I have changed a lot as a person in that time - I am still really overweight but I am walking faster, less sedentary and marginally more confident. People are starting to notice and some are commenting. My hairdresser came right out and asked me. But she knows me well and has done it herself so it was actually useful to chat. Another friend messaged me after my Mum posted a photo saying how she could see such a difference. That is a huge motivator even if I can't really see it much myself yet!

I have been very slowly losing for 3 months so nobody has noticed. I also feel that once I reached the 12-13 week mark I felt more energetic and I am walking taller. Maybe 3 months is the sweet spot as they claim!

That's massive. Well done! Have you done that on a 2.5 dose?

That's incredible! I would love to know more about your experience.

BritbirdUK · 29/09/2026 07:52

@AgedPudding no, I did a month on 2.5, 2 on 5 and now at 7.5. going to stay here for a while I hope. I have written about how I moved from 2.5 too quickly but I really struggled on 5. I had so much food noise and was just not feeling great with the experience. Moved up to 7.5 and definitely much improved apart from getting my first real side effect - constipation!

Absolutely. I have done 2+ classes per week since Sept 24 (mostly spin) but now I’ve switched to resistance and weights classes. And I’ve signed up for 10 PT sessions!

I have been trying to lose weight since January.

Jab 14 for me today, I've gone to 4.5mg as I think I needed to increase both for the suppression but also I've been reading about how levels work within your body and why increased levels are needed to continue to lose weight over a longer period of taking MJ. I know everyone is different but as always with this I'm doing what I think I need at that time.
Anyway 1.2lb loss for me last week which isn't as big as some of you I know but it's ticking along for which I'm grateful. Total weight loss over 13 weeks is 25.8lb.

Buzzyfeeder · 29/09/2026 16:09

Jab 12 for me down 20lbs. Have ordered my first 5mg pen today plan to take the 3.3mg counting clicks path. I still have two doses left in my current 2.5 pen not sure if alternating the doses for a couple of weeks to use up the 2.5 pen might be an option ? Anyone else done that? I feel like I need the higher dose to get things going again but I’m still losing just it’s getting slower and slower and the noise is back! I feel reluctant to just forego the two doses in that pen but I’m impatient!

Margrethe · 29/09/2026 20:19

I have had 9 doses and have lost 3.8 kilos.

It’s not much at all compared to so many of you! But I am still grateful to be losing. Walking up the hill after work feels a little easier already. I haven’t had any side effects, and fingers crossed, my move up from 2.5mg won’t bring any on. I plan to take a 4.0mg dose from a 5.0mg pen.

HereWeGoAgainForTheHundredthTime · 29/09/2026 22:22

Have just found this thread. I took my 14th jab today and have only lost 14lbs. Feeling a bit down about it after reading about every one else. Was on 2.5mg for 1 month, 5mg for 2 months (second pen did absolutely nothing and felt like it was a complete waste of money) and now on 7.5mg.

Can't do any exercise ATM or walking due to an injury and not looking good for the next 12 months so have to lose my weight by reducing food only. I'm not sure whether to keep to 7.5 or move up for my next pen.

RedFatball · 29/09/2026 22:23

Jab day for me and I've gone to 5mg for the first time. Have felt pretty lethargic and queasy but hopefully tomorrow will be better. I've barely managed to eat either. Again, let's see how the week pans out

Could you take more from the 2.5mg pen? Take the 2.5mg then change needle and location and take another part dose?

Maybe with the leftover in the pen you could do 3mg this week then 3.3mg next week? That’s 0.8mg extra - even without the golden dose the pen might have that?

ChocolateIsBad · 30/09/2026 09:30

Last dose for me was on Monday after 3 months at 2.5mg. Weight has stayed pretty much the same over past few weeks. Would like to lose a few more pounds but have lost about 17.5 pounds.

Good luck everyone still going. It will be interesting to see what happens once drug completely cleared from my body. Feeling optimistic and not going to avoid the scales that I used to do when I didn’t want to see what they were telling me😉. No regrets on taking Mounjaro - it’s been an interesting experience but overall very straightforward. The suppression definitely wore off the longer I was on it but still there to some degree.

Excellent idea @LovelyLapin ! Need to find the post in this thread that showed how to work out the doses with counting the clicks! Thank you meets my impatience and no waste - fantastic.

Similar story. 11 doses and lost 12 lbs. Like you I'm just happy the scales are going downwards. I've stayed on 2.5 throughout but am moving up to 5 after this week. Perhaps that will move things!!

AgedPudding · 01/10/2026 11:44

Have just found this thread. I took my 14th jab today and have only lost 14lbs

I'm losing at a similar rate. Also have had a knee procedure so any exercise is out. I plan to keep plodding on.
