July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Hi all! I’d joined this thread right at the beginning and my pen was supposed to arrive last Sunday. Long story short it got lost in transit so have only received a replacement today.

I can’t decide when to take it. Does anyone have any advice please?

I work mon-thurs if that’s of any relevance. Can’t decide whether to go for it today, tomorrow or wait til thurs night in case of any side effects?

I read somewhere here that if you take it just before bed, you 'sleep it off' during any immediate side effects. There is some logic there. I took mine very late at night before bed, just because that was when I had time to relax and do it slowly, but certainly I then went to bed and slept well.

Snap! Just taken mine and going to sleep now

fingers crossed for a smooth day tomorrow!

@BritbirdUK wow! That’s a huge loss. Big well done.

@missedtherainbow sounds like a positive start in tough circumstances.

@Puddleduck2013 I think if we don’t change our habits gain is inevitable. But scary it’s at that pace. I have decided to stick on the 2.5mg dose for my second order. Have a bolt discount code if anyone wants it.

Hi, could I have the Bolt discount code you mentioned please ? Thanks a lot

CluckYeahCluck · 06/07/2026 00:45

MammaGnomes · 05/07/2026 07:47

@CluckYeahCluck I went with Bolt pharmacy and have a referral code for £40 off. I think it takes it down to around £100 for MJ/ £80 for wegovy I can send it to you if you would like to have a look

@hussherbye I’ve been having the protein wraps that are quite nice.

I had my big night out last night and only had 3 alcoholic drinks. Had 1 G&T and then 2 vodka lime & sodas. Was really worried I might react straight away but felt fine. My head feels clear this morning so I think I might have gotten away with the trial run. The true test will be next Friday.

Hi, yes thanks, please send me the Bolt code. I ordered a 3-month bundle through Asda assuming they are cheap, as it was so complicated looking through all the millions of suppliers out there and their offers. Anyway, it means I've got nearly 3 months to find a cheaper good supplier, but am starting the hunt now. Somebody else mentioned Bolt too.

hussherbye · 06/07/2026 07:23

Welcome @Kamek @bluemoonredsky

week 1 weigh in day for me and a loss of 6lb. I’m obsessed with reading about WLI and have noticed some other things that I’ve read can be a sign of fat burning
*face looks slimmer/less bloated- apparently you see it first here
*increased thirst- apparently you need water to burn the fat
*started a period- I have a more a coil and I’m definitely in the peri stage, this is only my second period this year

Things I’m trying to do to stay in control-
*planning food ahead and logging in advance on MFP
*three 20min strength sessions and two 20min rowing per week
*having high protein snacks available

Hope everyone has a good week!

hussherbye · 06/07/2026 07:24

That should be mirena coil!

Twinwife · 06/07/2026 08:06

Hi everyone,
wow - some huge losses - congratulations!
I’m down 2kg this first week which I’m delighted with.

SW 76.5kg
CW 74.5kg
GW 65kg

I had my second jab yesterday morning. I did it in my stomach as the bruise in my thigh was still quite visible from the first one.

I found that I was getting a bit more hungry by the end of the week. Most days I achieved over 100g protein - it was hard, but I think I’m getting in the swing of things. I’m also pleased I managed 2 strength sessions, some Pilates/yoga and some cardio. I was worried I wouldn’t have the energy for it, but all went ok.

we had my 40th bday party at the weekend. I didn’t really fancy any alcohol but had a couple of glasses of wine. I would usually be fine with this, but after a bad nights sleep , I was shattered yesterday! I’m not sure if it was worse due to MJ or lack of sleep but I’m going to avoid alcohol for a while.

I’d also love a Bolt code please!

Have a good week everyone !

YourJollyGoose · 06/07/2026 08:34

@hussherbyeinteresting about the period, I too have a coil recently fitted, had stopped bleeding finally to have a period week before last that is still going - I wonder if MJ has influenced that. Congrats weight loss that’s fabulous

All week I’ve been thinking is this suppression or me, well I can now confirm on day 6 it’s definitely suppression!!! Birthday party over weekend - definitely was not fussed by food, I did have a tiny bit of pudding and birthday cake. I paid for it the next day as had a small bout of diarrhoea. We when had a BBQ the next day and I really didn’t want anything and had to consciously eat! I’d normally scoff my food too quickly and I was the last finished. My thirst is still very high and I crave and enjoy fruit (probably due to water content!)

I have lost a good amount, weigh day is tomorrow so will update with a figure then. I’m really trying to concentrate on how this feels and what I’m eating so I can learn for the future. So far eat slow, drink tonnes, prioritise protein and fibre over filling up with carbs and much less sugar!

I hope this continues as I’m amazed so far!

Kabloom · 06/07/2026 09:49

Doing ok. Very tired for first few days but better yesterday and this morning. No real symptoms but have been cautious. Have twice left new potatoes on my plate despite reducing portions. That seems the biggest difference knowing when I’ve had enough. Had a bit of an emotionally charged weekend clearing my parents house and I ended up speaking out instead of peacemaking and atuffing feelings down with food. Was really uncomfortable but I think I’ll have to start doing this more and accept that those around me will take time to get used to it. Next jab is on Tuesday. I’ve decided to weigh monthly so I don’t get distracted by fluctuations. Not sure I won’t be tempted but that’s the aim.

BritbirdUK · 06/07/2026 10:07

Morning all and welcome to all the new joiners! I tend not to check this as much over the weekend, more of a skim read so great to see so many people joining and sharing.

Well done to everyone on their WL. There are some amazing numbers and great to see it is working initially for so many of us.

@MammaGnomes that is great that you managed to resist the sweet stuff. I am still getting the cravings but nowhere near as much and aside from a single chocolate biscuit I haven't had any sweet treats aside from fruit.

@CluckYeahCluck I got it on the NHS but it took a long time (over a year and the guidelines changing) The criteria is very strict and I know I am very fortunate. My GP was brilliant and they managed to somehow, I am not sure how, work within the guidelines. I would've paid for it myself otherwise but in a way, knowing that I am one of the very fortunate people to have it on the NHS, means I have even more motivation and determination to suceed.

@Tulips45 not sure if you will see this but am so sorry to hear and hope you are ok. Maybe the pills would work for you?

My weekend went well I think - Saturday we went to our friends for a BBQ. Unfortunately it was a bit impromptu so we didn't get to prepare massively and it was a lot of more processed foods. I had half a sausage, half a (homemade) burger, a bite of lamb and then just some bits like homemade potato salad/coleslaw. Normally I would've had an awful lot more and carried on picking at things Then yesterday I made a pulled pork in the slow cooker. I cut all of the fat off so relatively healthy but I couldn't eat loads.

Anyway, new week now so have a good one everyone!

I’ve found the lack of interest in alcohol really surprising!
ive pm’d you the bolt code. Hope it helps

LovelyLapin · 06/07/2026 12:45

I have a mirena coil and had a heavy (for me) bleed after doing the jab.

I think it’s a common side effect.

Why is my period so heavy on Mounjaro?
Heavy periods can occur due to the release of stored estrogen from fat cells during rapid weight loss. This hormonal surge can thicken the uterine lining, leading to a heavier flow as the body adapts to new hormone levels.

I experienced something similar when I started low carbing years ago. I think it’s probably a positive sign it’s working!

Nowimhereandimlost · 06/07/2026 13:20

Day 2 and honestly I don't think I'm getting much suppression. I still think about food a lot and am feeling a lot of hunger signals. I could easily hoof a bowl of something delicious, no problem. Alcohol too. Maybe it's simply too early but I read days 1-2 have strongest symptoms.

I did start my period a bit early though so interesting that others have flagged this too. Haven't managed to do any exercise yet but I have a slightly quieter week this week so will try. I'm not calorie counting but I'm pretty good at eating plenty of protein and fibre. Planning on weighing once a week. Will be really interesting to see!

bluemoonredsky · 06/07/2026 13:39

Jabbed last night and cant believe how not hungry i feel, although i’m constantly thinking about the fact im not hungry.

managed 2 spoon fulls on greek yog and a tangerine for breakfast and a small chicken breast with a few slices of beetroot for lunch.

on my 3rd pint of water already as my mouth is dry.

planning a walk after work to get my steps in, hopefully it stays this plain sailing!

how many calories are you all aiming for or are you just eating less/ not tracking?

BritbirdUK · 06/07/2026 13:51

@bluemoonredsky I am tracking all my food (and water) but only really eating when I am hungry. If it looks too low (under 1000) then I am trying to get up to that. I am struggling with getting the protein in though - I don't want to start doing powder or supplements if I can help it. Today for example I haven't felt like eating anything so far.

Puddleduck2013 · 05/07/2026 16:38

Can I ask whatthe reaction was?

My tongue, lips and inner mouth started burning and stinging and there was some slight swelling to my tongue. First reaction was in 30 mins the second after 12 hours.

Puddleduck2013 · 06/07/2026 14:52

@tulipreally sorry to read that.

I did wonder if I had a reaction, my skin felt like it was crawling with ants next day but I put it down to the cheap shit SHEIN clothes I’d worn for 1st time!

Will keep a very close eye on things next jab

Frolie · 06/07/2026 18:05

Hello Can I join please? Doing my first jab tonight! Had a very sociable weekend, so I delayed the jab until this evening. (Was also up watching the England game at 2am!)
I’m 49 and weigh 69kg, but I’m only 5ft 3, so this puts me noticeably in the overweight category. For most of my adult
life I weighed 57-60kg and then premature menopause at 40, along with an Underactive Thyroid & osteoarthritis means that I’ve really struggled the last 6 years to lose weight. I go to the gym three times a week and walk the dog daily and already eat healthy. I’m hoping to keep up the protein - which app do you think is best for this?
Im nervous about side effects… hoping that lots of water and high protein intake helps!

Narwhalsh · 06/07/2026 20:44

Joining! Am day 3, I’ve noticed the low appetite since the first day and today have been feeling very slow and lethargic. I’m prone to reflux and I was feeling very bad at about tea time. Went for a short walk and it’s better but a yogurt was all I could stomach.

Hoping to lose about 3 stone and really want to be finished by Xmas!! 🤶

minnymoobear · 07/07/2026 01:32

Hi first jab was Sunday night and definitely felt good suppression yesterday!
went to gym and had a bike ride, ate scrambled eggs with spinach, some watermelon, Babybel cheese, walnuts and then chicken salad

Struggled with water intake and was so tired I kept falling asleep - and am now awake at 1am! might have some Greek yogurt and blueberries

anyone taking measurements as well as weighing themselves?

BettinaBumblebee · 07/07/2026 07:11

Morning all 👋and a warm welcome to all our newbies!

There are quite a few of us due to weigh in today for Week 1 so I’ll start the ball rolling… 6lbs down!!!!!!!!

I haven’t counted calories, just an old fashioned paper and pen food diary, and have found it really easy to eat a clean diet. In fact I’m craving fresh salads and fruit and lean meat and fish and could care less about all the unhealthy stuff. It just hasn’t bothered me - amazing!

I’m feeling slightly anxious about the 2nd jab this evening. Side effects this week have been mild nausea for the first day and a slight headache for 2 days. That I can cope with.

Looking forward to seeing some great losses from all our first weekers!

BettinaBumblebee · 07/07/2026 07:16

@minnymoobear yes I’ve taken measurements and was thinking maybe to do it once a month. Same with photos, once a month should show some visible differences.

I’ve also resisted weighing myself all week, most unlike me, 😂as I was hoping for the payoff of a pleasant surprise today.

Frolie · 07/07/2026 08:03

I’ve used the app 360 Me for measurements. It takes them
for you and also takes a progress photo … it’s free (so far!)
