July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Three month anniversary stats.

Just slipped into a new BMI number :)

I don’t track calories daily but I eat the same thing nearly every day so I’m definitely in a daily calorie deficit.

Exercise - 3/4 weights / resistance classes per week. Thinking of dropping to 3 plus park run if week 2 feels a bit easier than week 1. I am completely sedentary on 3 days per week - working 12 hours sat down.

Having been super happy that I was allowed to give blood on the jabs, it's a week later and the donation has wiped me out like I've never had before. Still losing weight but I'm so bloody tired. Fingers crossed it passes soon!

Maybe an iron supplement? Hope it passes soon.

Just done parkrun for a second time. Hoping not to feel so achey this week. I had backache for a few days this week - not sure if it was park run or weights or something else. Forgot to warm down and didn’t really warm up but I did walk back to the car after so hopefully that helped.

SW - 16st 12
CW - 14st 9
GW - maybe 10st, 10st 7 - will see when I get there

Have looked to swap from Bolt to Medicine Marketplacd due to cost, however, they (MM) are quite slow in replying. Sent my initial consultation on Monday, they replied on Wednesday wanting me to take another video. Not sure what they want, their message says:

  • Starting the recording in the selfie position (face to be shown) then flipping the camera to show the scale reading while you stand/step onto the scale.
  • Or having someone else take the video for you.

My iPhone doesn’t allow the screen to be flipped when recording and I don’t have anyone that can video me. First time I video’d my face then moved the phone down to show the scales but this is what they didn’t accept. So now I have downloaded an app that lets me video split screens with front and rear camera at once, and sent that back to them but have heard nothing yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was this an issue for anyone else using MM for the first time?

Email them and give them a nudge. Likely don't operate over the weekend though

What would you like to know? Anything specific?

Side effects, hair loss, nausea, any issues at all?

Yes I had issues too! My phone wouldn't even show a picture when using their software so j gave up. They were pretty slow in responding but did eventually refund me

Nowimhereandimlost · 04/10/2026 09:32

Just finished my 3rd pen and I'm at my initial target weight, a weight I haven't been since I was a teenager. I am amazed. I can't believe this has happened so quickly after decades of struggle. My clothes don't fit and I've had to spend money on getting new ones, but shopping is no longer the painful exercise it used to be.

I still have some to lose from my stomach and legs so I'm going to set a new target of another half stone.

I have no idea how I will fare without the meds. I think it will be tough. But this experience has helped me to dispel some narratives I've been telling myself about food and what I need and how much. I don't need breakfast for example. My portions can much MUCH smaller and I won't keel over. I don't need to snack. Alcohol makes me feel terrible.

Well done to everyone else on this thread - even if you feel you're losing slowly (my goal was 1-2lbs pw), you're still losing.

AgedPudding · 04/10/2026 15:48

I've also just finished my 3rd pen and have finally lost a stone!

I suppose that's a tad over a pound a week, but feel like I'm being left behind when I see some of the huge losses of some posters. I've got plenty more to lose as well so looks like a long haul! I have stayed on the 2.5 throughout so I expect that has something to do with it too, just wondering if anyone else has a result as underwhelming as mine.

Yeah I am one of the slow losers but don’t mind as long as it’s coming off and not on. I lose anything from 1/4 pound to 2lb each week. I’ve now lost over 1 stone since starting Mounjaro. And nearly 2 stone since starting dieting in May. It’s slow but I can now feel it especially when walking and getting up from a chair.

im also on 2.5mg and gp said if I was happy with the weight loss just to keep to the lower dose.

JuicyPie · 04/10/2026 21:27

I will be doing my 12th jab tonight and I have lost 2st 3lbs which I am really happy with. Still along way to go but feeling much happier in myself

Hi all. It’s been a while but I thought I’d add an update in the hope it might be helpful to someone starting out and to explain why I’m pausing Mounjaro for now.

SW 12st 7lbs
CW 10st 10lbs
BM has moved from obese to over weight
Total Loss 24lbs 🙌

I'm 3 months in, stayed on 2.5 mg throughout and have had only a few mild side effects which wore off after the first two weeks. I feel better than I have done in over 10 years. Inflammation is gone, joint pain significantly reduced and my energy levels are great. I’m wearing clothes I haven’t worn for years and my confidence has returned after a long absence. For me Mounjaro has been a miracle drug.

Sadly, after 13 jabs and more success than I could have hoped for, I’ve developed symptoms which my GP suspects are down to a dodgy gallbladder. No previous issues before this so it’s come as quite a shock although it’s not unknown for gallbladder problems to reveal themselves after substantial weight loss. After an extremely unpleasant and painful weekend, which I would not wish to repeat, I’m now stopping Mounjaro for the foreseeable future.

It’s ironic that my diet over the last 3 months has been the cleanest and healthiest ever. When my appetite returns (still feeling very sick and tender) I’ll likely carry on eating the same way but will change to lower fat dairy and focus on the leaner meats for protein. I absolutely do not regret Mounjaro for one minute and hope one day to restart if I’m medically fit to do it.

It’s a very personal choice to embark on a GLP 1 so I would encourage anyone who is thinking of starting to do the research. Look at the bad as well as the good, there is plenty of information out there. Take your time, consider all your options and also work out if it’s financially sustainable for you. I gave up a weekly class to be able to afford it.

Finally a shout out to Swift Doctor who I’ve ordered from right from the start. They are not the cheapest but I chose them because they have Doctors as well as Pharmacists if you need advice or support. They are reliable and always delivered on time. When I emailed them to advise I was stopping and why, I received a lovely reply rather than a standard response.

Thanks for reading if you haven’t fallen asleep by now! I will still watch this thread and cheer you all along on your fabulous weight loss journeys. Lots of love and just keep swimming! ❤️

RedUn · 06/10/2026 10:09

@BettinaBumblebee hope you are feeling better soon and good luck with everything.

RedUn · 06/10/2026 10:22

Today is jab day no.15 and I have managed a 2.2lb loss last week bringing my total to 28lb, I'm delighted to hit a 2st loss.
I went onto 4.5mg last week and I think the increased levels may have worked some magic 🤷🏼‍♀️ my calories have been much the same throughout but I haven't had a 2.2lb weekly loss for about 5 weeks and before that it was right back at the start. I have stayed at 4.5mg for this week and will see how it goes.
My original target was about 10st 7lb but I'm hoping I can maybe get to around 10st, will shall see. Still a few more months to go though.
Continued good luck everyone.

This is concerning to me as someone else reported developing gallstones whilst on MJ

I am so glad you have had so much success and am sorry to hear of the gallbladder issues. Well done for being proactive with investigating it!

I hope you recover quickly and no long term side effects

Can I ask what symptoms you had RE Gladdbladder flare?

I don’t think the Mounjaro is the cause of gallstones as such. From what I’ve read, substantial weight loss can irritate the gallbladder. Gallstones can be present for a number of years without any problems. It’s reported that people losing weight through other methods, gastric bands for instance, also can suffer the same problem.

I don’t have a medical background of course so please do speak to someone more qualified for reassurance. Better to seek proper advice than to worry. Wishing you good luck with your continued weight loss.

Thanks @DaringlyDizzy I think I’ve just been unlucky as I’d never had an inkling of any issues before.

My first symptom was waking with a tummy pain that I hadn’t experienced before, different from the usual cramping pain you might get if you ate something bad. This pain was more persistent and gnawing. It gradually got worse over the next few hours eventually radiating up under my ribs on the right side and through to my back. I just couldn’t get comfortable and spent the night pacing, stretching, sitting, kneeling with no relief. I vomited twice a few hours apart and when the pain didn’t subside even temporarily after vomiting I suspected that it was likely not a Mounjaro side effect. All in all it was about 7 long hours before the pain subsided.

Of course it might not be anything to do with my Gallbladder but the symptoms are pretty textbook. Ive had an ultrasound today and will hopefully get the results within the week. Really impressed with how quickly my GP Surgery responded and I was luckily to get a cancellation for the ultrasound too.

Buzzyfeeder · 06/10/2026 21:40

Jab 13 for me now down 20.5lbs just 0.5 down this last week. I’ve taken my first dose from the 5mg pen at 42clicks for a reduced dose hopefully this will restart my will power! I still have the 2.5 pen with 2? doses left but couldn’t work out the clicks with confidence to up the dose so chickened out ! 29.5lbs to go to target!

LovelyLapin · 07/10/2026 00:23

@Buzzyfeeder

Check the maths because I got ChatGPT to do this. But 42 clicks from 5mg = 3.5mg.

A full dose of 2.5mg plus 24 clicks from 2.5mg should also be 3.5mg.
