July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Thanks @DaringlyDizzy Feeling ok. I have 2 more doses left of my 2nd 2.5mg pen and that’s me done. I’d like to lose another 2-3 pounds. Going on holiday so going to delay today’s dose to Saturday and then take last dose when I come back. Hopefully I will be ok while away (12 days).

Then I think that will be me done and will be trying to maintain. It’s been very easy. Average of about 2lbs a week apart from week 2 when it was 4lbs. Some weeks just 1lb.

Been trying to lose this weight for such a long time so Mounjaro has been an incredible help. Slight nausea has been worst side effect.

Just wanted to post this here as I spoke to Lilya during the week. If you have an hour free, would be helpful to her with her research and you get to talk about GLP1s to your heart’s content especially if you haven’t shared with other people.

Oxford MSc Research – Have you used Wegovy, Ozempic or Mounjaro?
I’m a postgraduate researcher at the University of Oxford conducting a study exploring people’s experiences of using weight-loss medications, including Wegovy, Ozempic and Mounjaro.
I’m currently looking for participants who would be willing to take part in an interview and share their experiences.
If you might be interested in taking part, or would simply like to find out more about the study, you can read the full details here:

I am starting week 6 (injecting tonight) and last week only lost 1lb. (13lb in total) I am off work this week and today the food noise is more noticable and I am having to work to keep it down.
Next week I will decide if I should order the 5ml pen but I am still unsure. Have any of you other July starters increased your dose yet?

Similar to you, I'm starting week 5 on Monday and have so far lost 10lb in total.
I ummed and aahed about whether to order the 5ml this time but eventually stuck with the 2.5. Hunger is kicking in occasionally and I now wish I had gone up this time but ho hum, it's done now. I will definitely go up to 5ml next order.

AgedPudding · 13/08/2026 10:47

Such control to weigh once a month! I literally weigh every morning

Me too! I try not to but the scales are there when I step in the shower:(

AgedPudding · 13/08/2026 10:48

After 6 weeks, 1 stone lost

Well done! Must feel great 😀

Wigwambam65 · 14/08/2026 07:36

Lost 1lb this week so current weight is 11st 1lb.

I put off taking the jab on Tuesday because I was a bit fed up feeling so nauseous. However I was actually hungry yesterday for the first time in ages. I didn’t overeat but took a 2.5 dose this morning. Hopefully with some anti sickness meds I can get through this for the next few weeks and get to my goal. I’m definitely going to have a break after this pen anyway but think I am going to let my next pen come and keep it in reserve rather than go through this whole rigmarole of asking for it again.

Margrethe · 14/08/2026 08:28

I jabbed last night for the third time. No noticeable side effects still. I jabbed my tummy rather than the side of my thigh to see if there would be a difference. I don’t think so.
It might be taking the edge off my hunger, but I am still hungry when I wake up and at different times in the day.

Morning all, weigh in day for me and nothing! I'm actually half a pound heavier than last week. But calorie tracking tells me that my highest day was 1300 and lowest around 1000, so I'll keep on keeping and wait for the scales to catch up. I'll be jabbing this evening as I've got a work lunch and want to have a fighting chance of some digestive transit before it all slows down.

Who have people switched to rather than Voy? I’ve just finished my 3 months with them and realised belatedly they charge roughly double other providers 🤦‍♀️

I am with Lotus they are really easy to use. I can send you a referral if you like. Alternatively check out Monj.co.uk for price comparison

Little non scale victory for me this morning (only weigh on a Sunday)
I’ve just come off my little folding treadmill and did 8min fast walking, 2min jogging (me jogging!!) another 8min fast walking and another 2min jogging!! Followed by 5 min normal walk to cool down.
I am soaked with sweat and had a fan on in front of me but I feel great! Recovery time has been much quicker today. Last week I was doing a max of 15min fast walking 3 times a day but I will be repeating the above 2 more times yet today.
I am really hoping to have reached the 2stone loss mark on Sunday when I weigh in 🤞
Still a long way to go (7 stone 🫣) but I’m feeling good 🤗
Hope everyone is feeling good and surviving this heat xx

Cheesecake53 · 14/08/2026 10:31

I did my fifth (golden) dose today and lost 6.5kg so far, I managed to lower my BMI from 37 to 35, I cannot believe that.

thats great.

what make of treadmill do you have? I don’t have the room for a full size on so a folding one might be best.

@AgedPudding I am on 5 now. I only did 2.5 for a month and went straight up. The food noise was still there albeit less. I am due to finish the 1st pen at 5 tonight but found I am hungry more than I was on 2.5 so will likely go up a dose again!

I weighed in this morning. I started jabbing on the 26th June and today I hit my 3 stone milestone. There is still a HUGE way to go for me (I haven't shared how much I want/need to lose, but it is more than 10 stone total) but I am bloody proud.

Yesterday I went in to London. Crazy when it was 38 degrees but it was meeting 2 friends for lunch at Alto by San Carlo, the rooftop restaurant at Selfridges and given that our last meet up was cancelled because of the extreme heat and we lost our reservation at Gordon Ramsay we said we would bear it and travel in. One of my friends is jabbing as well so it was easy to eat smaller portions etc. We shared most bits and I even had a dessert. However, the main thing was a massive NSV. I ruptured 2 discs in my back around 4 years ago and had various treatments. Since then I have struggled a lot with walking and exercise which in turn meant I struggled with weight gain. Going to places where I have to walk fills me with dread. Anyway, yesterday, for the first time since my surgeries, I was able to walk with relative ease and not have to stop and stretch my back which, on it's own, is a huge change. Then, when I got to the tube, Bond Street was closed. I could've just got the bus down, but instead I walked. It was hell - mainly because of the heat - but I did it. And without struggling. I was dripping in sweat but so was the rest of Oxford Street!

That's an amazing achievement and I can only imagine what difference this is making for you. I struggle with knee pain but that's caused by simple age related deterioration. It's not so easy to get the required exercise in though. Or the protein. Does anyone else find it difficult?

3 stones is a major difference. I haven't even hit one yet and I too have a significant amount of weight to lose. Onwards and upwards! Oh. I mean downwards. . . . . .

RedFatball · 14/08/2026 11:54

I have hit 2 stone weight loss and have suddenly started dropping clothes sizes. Literally nothing at all before, middle of the range size 18. Today I am wearing a size 14 skirt so I seem to have bypassed a dress size completely!

I increased my dose with the new pen around Tuesday lunchtime.

At 4.30 on Wednesday I woke up feeling ill, sweating and stomach cramps. I vomited up the meal I had eaten at 9pm, vomiting around 6 times within an hour. I also had about three bouts of diarrhoea.

After an hour my stomach was empty and I went back to sleep.

I chose not to eat anything on Wednesday. I had occasional cramping through the day but not severe like overnight.

Yesterday I ate a slice of toast then a small dinner. No issues, just again some intermittent cramping, same as today.

I don’t know whether the vomiting etc. was a reaction to the increase in dose in its own, or the increase combined with a meal that was possibly too high in fat for 5mg.

Did you have any symptoms on 2.5?

No, none

ChocolateIsBad · 14/08/2026 17:54

This isn’t Orlistat so fat content shouldn’t be an issue unless you already have gall bladder issues.
Vomiting is a known side effect but hopefully it will settle. Keep hydrated; maybe add an electrolyte table to your water.

Thanks, no vomiting after that episode, as soon as my stomach was empty I was able to settle back down. Just a very unpleasant hour!

Just got occasional cramps like trapped wind now.

Beadley · 14/08/2026 19:56

Ooh @ElasticFantasticBoombastic - that sounds rough! Hope it settles.

I had planned on staying on 2.5mg but when I collected my prescription from GP she told me she had made it out for 5mg and that next month she’d prescribe 7.5mg. She also told me I was looking great! 😊 I was speaking to her in the reception so I couldn’t get into the fact that I wanted to stay on 2.5mg in front of other people but I had mentioned it at our initial appointment. I’m not sure whether she expects me to microdose anyway and is prescribing the higher dose as it works out cheaper or whether she’s just a ‘by the book’ prescriber and this is what Mounjaro trialled so that’s what she thinks I should do.

I’ve had no symptoms apart from decreased appetite and no food noise so I plan on staying on 2.5 dose as long as I can.

I think I’ll be on this for life and I don’t want to get too high a dose too quickly.
