July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

@purplepie1 you journey sounds similar to mine - find I can lose a few lbs the “traditional” way but then it just stalls and the hunger creeps in and the cycle starts all over again. I’m hoping that with MJ I can break the barrier whilst building good habits so that when I reach goal weight it will be easier to maintain

ordered a treadmill yesterday but not due to arrive until end of month and we are in France for a week then. Going to start some strength training tomorrow and aim for 3 a week as we already had some weights. Walking around 30 mins today to meet DH and kids as he has taken them swimming this morning. But will be further walking as we are heading to an old castle after. Will have about 1 hour 20 walk to work and back Weds too (though going to be v hot so might sweat my tits off).

going out for lunch today to a Thai - going to try best to make good choices like chicken and steamed rice.

I poured myself a glass of wine last night, took 2 small sips and thought yuk. Reckon MJ is going to send me alcohol free or very very minimal which can only be a positive thing for me

Just coming up to six weeks and sticking to monthly weighing although going away in 10 days time so might weigh before I go. I’ve stuck to 2.5mg as still maintaining a calorie deficit. Did start feeling a bit of food noise but only when having a couple of days out injecting a day later to shift my day for convenience. This week I’ve found the suppression is higher but I’ve managed a reasonable meal as the hunger kicks in. I think it just ebbs and flows so but quite manageable so going to stick with 2.5mg while that’s the case. I’ve ordered a 3rd pen at 2.5 but might consider getting 5mg next time and counting clicks to save money. It also gives the option to move up slowly if I choose to. I’ve been eating well prioritising protein and fibre and I think that helps. On days where I’ve struggled to know what to eat I’ve had a protein shake but not resorted to that 3 times so far.

If you have an Apple Watch I can recommend the Ladder app. It's kept me consistent at 3 workouts a week for a couple of months now. I think I can get a referral code for 30 days free if you are interested. I don't think it works on Android though annoyingly
