July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Having a tough week this week. Have been put on a 10 day course of steroids so my appetite is a bit higher than normal, but because I’m not eaten well for the last 2 weeks with the neuralgia I’ve eaten quite a bit.

Looking at a small gain this week but I know it’s only temporary.

regretting staying on 2.5 now but it’ll be fine!

Nowimhereandimlost · 15/08/2026 14:21

I've just taken my 6th dose - I skipped a week as we were away on holiday. I'm pleased I did because I got to enjoy the incredible food more as the holiday came to an end, also had a glass of wine most evenings and enjoyed it. I knew I had put on weight but I was pleased to see it was only 1.5lbs. I noticed the difference in my approach to food - we did a breakfast buffet one morning and my god, the difference. I ate just what I needed and no more. Amazing.

Definitely noticed it wearing off, food seemed much more appetising again and I started finishing my plates again. Still need to think carefully about how to deal with life post-MJ, I can't afford/don't intend to be on this forever.

I reordered and went for 2.5 again. I've read it's best to be on the smallest most effective dose, and I'm happy with the progress so far as I'm 11.2lbs down in total. I still have a way to go but happy to do it slowly.

Side effects have been minimal but sometimes odd. I get very dizzy if I stand up too quickly. I also noticed a strange sensation like my skin on my leg was burnt (it wasn't). Looked it up and this is indeed a reported, rare side effect. Bizarre!

Has anyone else’s periods been affected by monjourno?
Im due my 7th injection tomorrow but just realised I haven’t had a period for over 8 weeks.
Im definitely not pregnant, could be menopause or monjourno?
I have lost just under 2 stone (well hopefully 2 stone tomorrow when I weigh in) rather quickly.

JuicyPie · 16/08/2026 09:04

Managed to force my pen to give the last dose yesterday as I forgot to order any insulin syringes! Did my weekly weigh after having a week away with the family and my weight is the same, telling myself its not a gain so still ok! Going to move up to 5mg for my next injection. Ive lost 12lbs since my first injection so happy with that
SW 13st 12lbs
CW 13st
GW 10st

Hi all joined this thread at the start and then stopped posting as not losing anything and just got disillusioned :(
lost about 3lbs on scale over first 2 weeks but keep putting it on and off again!
calories are TDEE(2300) minus 500 so around 1800 a day with 100g of protein a day.

exercising more, face looked thinner and had lost 2inches on waist but scales are not going down
gutted

Maybe you’re gaining muscle at the same time as losing fat? That could explain why the scales are not moving but you are thinner.

2 inches off your waist is fantastic!

Weigh in day today and 7th jab this evening.
SW 18.1 stone
CW 16.1 stone
another 4lb today has got me to the 2st mark.
Goal for the next week is to get under 16stone 🤞

minnymoobear · 16/08/2026 21:10

Thank you, not had any comments yet about me looking thinner but I can see it. Been TOTM and have struggled this week and eaten lots of sugar - have a 5mg pen for today’s jab so going to try click counting to 3.75 and see how I get on this week

purplepie1 · 17/08/2026 07:41

Weigh in day and lost 3lbs.
So far a loss of 7lbs.
SW 14st
CW 13st 7lbs
GW 12 st
As I mentioned before I started dieting before Mounjaro and have now lost a total of 1 st 2lbs. Mounjaro definitely makes it easier.

NSV this week - I was able to spend more time gardening before my I had pains in my back.

BettinaBumblebee · 17/08/2026 07:53

Morning all and happy Monday 😁

Had my 8th jab last night, still on 2.5mg for now. No loss this week but I’m seeing a difference in my clothes so will keep going.

A few NSVs include fastening bras on the tightest hook instead of the loosest, shoes and sandals feeling looser and my watch continues to swivel satisfyingly around my wrist. Oh, and despite decluttering for a house move, I’ve been pinching smaller clothes back from my Vinted pile and my wardrobe is expanding rapidly 😂It matters less to me what the scales say if I’m starting to wear clothes that have been too small for years.

With a total loss of 15lbs so far and my BMI slowly inching down towards the 30 mark, I’m happy to take it slowly. Last time I had a week with no loss on the scales, I weighed again mid-week and was 2lbs down. Sometimes it doesn’t shift to align with the day you choose to step on the scales but if the general trend is downwards, you’re doing fine. It took me a lot of years to get this big, I’ll wait.

Don’t lose heart @minnymoobear everyone is different. 2 inches off your waist is very encouraging. There have been some fabulous losses on this thread but there’s also plenty of us plodders. Those NSVs can be a real confidence boost so don’t forget them on weeks where the scales aren’t showing what you feel they should. We’ll all get there eventually!

How does that work? I’ve just ordered a 5mg and don’t want to jump up from 2.5 in one go.

Flobberworm99 · 17/08/2026 11:01

Morning all,

Really great to read about everyone's losses. I am losing about 1lb per week.

I managed to extract the golden (5th) dose from my first pen last Saturday (8th Aug) using an extra needle that I was given in my first pack. I missed jabbing Sat just gone (15th) as was away from Friday until today. I was definitely feeling more hungry over this weekend but was still getting full quite quickly so couldn't overeat and food noise was minimal. We did lots of physical activities this weekend, cycling, swimming, walking, paddle sports - so that should have burned lots of calories.

Have just taken my first dose from second 2.5g pen morning.

In terms of stats, after 5 weeks:
SW - 9st 9lbs
CW - 9st 1lbs
GW - 8st (min)
H - 4ft 11in

Losses:
Wk1 - 4lbs
Wk2 - 1lb
Wk3 - 1lb
Wk4 - 1lb
Wk5 - 1lb

8lbs loss in 5 weeks, 9lbs in total as lost 1lb in the week before jabbing for the first time. I am really pleased with this as before it would take me months just to lose 7lbs with a lot of effort and misery!
15lbs to go!

I don't know if my weight loss is visible to other people, but my stomach feels smaller, my underwear is looser and clothes that I couldn't get into several weeks ago are starting to fit, yay!

MammaGnomes · 17/08/2026 11:13

Just back from one weeks all inc in Egypt and I’ve gained 1.5lb. Happy with that. I skipped my jab before we left so have missed the last 2 Fridays. I’m going to jab again tonight. Looking forward to get back into the swing of things. And I’m planning on introducing some exercise this week too.

Squiggle13 · 17/08/2026 11:35

0.5lb off this week, so 13lb in total. Happy with that considering the steroids, one more week of them!

5th jab last night. Stayed on 2.5mg for month 2 but will likely up it to 5 for month 3.

SW: 14st 5.5lb
W1: 14st
W2: 13st 10lb
W3: 13st 7lb
W4: 13st 6.5lb

Hopefully now I’m feeling a bit better I can start with a bit more exercise.

bluemoonredsky · 18/08/2026 08:42

SW: 15st 6lbs
week 1: 14st 11lbs (-9lbs)
week 2: 14st 8lbs (-3Ibs)
week 3: 14st 7lbs (-1)
Week 4: 14st 2.5lbs (4.5lbs)
Week 5: 14st 1lbs (1.5lbs)
Week 6: 13st 13lbs (2lbs)

total wl: 21lbs

took jab on sunday staying at 2.5, but the nausea is like nothing I have had before. Any tips? Tried peppermint tea it helps for an hour after drinking but then comes back

Buzzyfeeder · 18/08/2026 09:47

I’m going to try to twist the pen for my first golden dose today. Jab 6 I started my new pen last week so I could store it out of the fridge. I am 13lbs down overall and I’m starting to see the fit in my clothes changing which I love and definitely motivates me! 37lbs to go…

RedFatball · 18/08/2026 22:59

Jabbed this morning still at 3.3mg and it's hit me hard. I can barely force a mouthful in. It's not my first or even second week at this dose so no idea what's going on! Managed to drag my way to 1200cal for the day and hoping it settles tomorrow as I will be on my feet all day

BerfyTigot · 19/08/2026 07:10

Weigh in day for me and I'm up 2kg.

Been struggling for the last 3 days with dad choices of food. Started with the odd can of coke when I was too suppressed to eat, and then gradually added too many carbs, then ended up having a Burger King and sweets while travelling yesterday.

It was a pretty moderate portion and I know that part of it was boredom, stress and being sick of dieting.

I jabbed Monday late night, so should feel the effect today.

Hope everyone else is doing better!

VimtoPrincess · 19/08/2026 07:38

I've just ordered my 3rd 2.5 pen. I am just starting week 8 and will jab tonight. I have lost just over a stone but my digital scales were not working properly so Exact amount is debatable. i bought some mechanical ones now and I am getting good suppression from the 2.5 pen but will increase next time to the 5ml pen. I am keen to find out how to get the dose to about 3.5-4ml for a couple of doses to ease myself in as I am anxious about the side effects being much worse on this dose but hopefully this wont be the case.

RedFatball · 19/08/2026 08:00

You can take intermediate doses by not clicking the pen all the way to 60 clicks. I am taking 3.3 mg from a 5 mg pen by doing 40 clicks. Gets 6 doses from one pen instead of 4. You might need extra needles but they are pretty cheap

Mine haven't but yes, rapid weight loss can stall periods for sure

RedUn · 19/08/2026 16:38

Had my 8th jab yesterday, continued at 3.5mg as suppression has been at a good level. Weight down 1.6lbs last week, so better than the previous week....total loss over the 7 weeks is 17lbs.
At the moment I feel like it's possibly going to be slow progress now but it is going in the right direction so can't complain too much.

Nowimhereandimlost · 19/08/2026 20:22

Another weird side effect I've noticed - I had keratosis pilaris (bumpy red skin on arms and legs) for as long as I can remember. I just realised that it's gone completely. My skin is smooth for the first time ever... Probably as a result of losing weight/bette eating. I'm amazed! Anyone else?

AelinAG · 19/08/2026 21:58

Feeling a bit disheartened. We have boditrax come into work every so often so I got an assessment today. My starting weight on 5th July was 68.3kg. Weight today is 63.7kg. But none of my other metrics on there have really improved and I don’t feel like I look any different. A couple of people have told me I look like I’ve lost weight and I can maybe see a slight difference in my face but nowhere else. I’m starting to worry my initial goal weight won’t actually have me looking or feeling any better.
