July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Also side note anyone got any tips for constipation pleaseeeee 🫠🫠

Cheesecake53 · 02/08/2026 18:10

@MamaK19 maybe more fibre?

VimtoPrincess · 02/08/2026 18:29

I'm half way through week 4 and loving the appetite suppression and lack of side effects.
SW 18.12 stone
CW 18.3 stone
Just been and bought mechanical scales because I was getting really different readings. Not sure if it was because my DS uses the scales but he weighs in Kg and I use Stones and pounds.
Any way I don't feel any different but I am really looking forward to the non scale victories.

@MamaK19I had 4 prunes in juice with greek yogurt for breakfast today and a glass of fresh orange - happy to say it worked for me this evening 😆

Unfortunately for me, Huel because they are so convenient but my tummy says no!

DaringlyDizzy · 02/08/2026 22:27

Protein in 15 was down to £4.50 on Amazon earlier so I ordered with same day delivery and its here! Incase anyone wants to grab it

Hi everyone.

I’m on week 4 and have noticed that my period cramps are so much worse than usual. I’ve had to take a nurofen every six hours. Anyone else noticed this?

Also, I’ve noticed my forehead wrinkles seem worse than they were last month - or maybe they were always this bad but I wasn’t examining myself so closely. I’ve got anti-wrinkle cream and started collagen so maybe that will help things!

bluemoonredsky · 03/08/2026 12:56

Weigh in for week 4

SW: 15st 6lbs
week 1: 14st 11lbs (-9lbs)
week 2: 14st 8lbs (-3Ibs)
week 3: 14st 7lbs (-1)
Week 4: 14st 2.5lbs (4.5lbs)

Thats 17.5 lbs gone on 4 weeks, feel amazing and so pleased!

staying on 2.5 as its still giving high suppression and results!

BritbirdUK · 03/08/2026 13:26

How did everyone get on over the weekend? I went to a birthday party on Sunday. I wasn't sure how it was going to be in terms of food but actually it was quite an interesting experience. Normally, going to a party with a buffet, especially this where everything was homemade, I would've massively overeaten or, if I was dieting, felt resentful that I couldn't eat the stuff I wanted to. This time I had a few bits of fruit and then a bite of the cake (hubby had a slice) but genuinely didn't feel deprived. Yes, I saw ther others eating the sausage rolls, quiche etc, but I just got on with it and wasn't constantly thinking about what I am missing.

I am still not really enjoying being on 5 though - I feel like the hunger is there more than with 2.5. But will persevere before going back and asking to go up a dose. In hindsight, as I have said previously, I should've stuck with 2.5 another month.

I am getting a bit fed up with this. I'm finishing Week 4 2.5mg today and will be staying on this dose, which is serving me well and I have lost 10lbs, slow and steady. The only problem I have is globus (lump in throat feeling). I also have severe apnoea so the combination of air and food sitting high up is a tricky combination. I am taking Lansoprazole for the air and Gaviscon Advanced for the globus and now which is helping slightly. Now I read the GI side effects can last through to week 6-8 gggrrrr

Buzzyfeeder · 03/08/2026 16:15

I went out for dinner at the weekend and made a panic choice from the menu which didn’t have obvious options to suit me. Got nachos so I could pick and stop as I wanted, I ate less than half but had a stomach upset overnight probably for the fatty meat I guess! Live and learn. I saw someone else post to say they check the menu in advance to help avoid this kind of panic and I will take that advice where I can now! I did not feel better for about 24 hours.

AgedPudding · 03/08/2026 16:26

3rd injection today and I've lost 9lbs so far. I really find it difficult to believe.
9lbs would have been weeks of struggle in the past. I guess the weight loss will slow down soon but staying on 2.5

My biggest problem currently is how to get enough protein. The yogurts are good and so are the drinks, but I'm craving a bit of variety. I really don't want to eat more meat than I have to so has anyone got any miracle tips?
I prob get about 40g daily from fish/chicken.

hussherbye · 03/08/2026 17:41

My easiest two for protein are boiled eggs (especially with a squirt of salt and vinegar mayo) or a small tin of tuna

Flobberworm99 · 03/08/2026 17:45

@AgedPudding
Been getting my protein from fish (salmon/tuna mainly), chicken, eggs, greek yogurt, scoop of collagen powder in tea or coffee (11g), protein shakes (20g). Baked beans (half a can has 10g), chickpeas and lentils are good for protein and fibre. M&S do high protein range of yogurts (22g per pot) and nut/seeds mix (10g per pack).

AelinAG · 03/08/2026 19:13

Day 1 of going up a dose and literally can’t eat so I might have to rethink!
Quorn is a good way of getting extra protein in, or Aldi have a lot of high protein stuff. The pancakes are good.

Ooh really, I was considering getting some of these to try and make sure my protein is a bit higher!

DaringlyDizzy · 03/08/2026 21:30

I have eaten a little more today and managed 1200cal.
My weight hasnt shifted AT ALL. In fact I am heavier. This is expected as last round i ate 3 meals in a whole week so I was physcially empty as it were. Now i have water weight and food weight. Defo physical changes appearing but I cant feel proud until I see the scales move!!

Beadley · 03/08/2026 22:28

SW - 90kg - 08/07/26
CW - 85.7kg - Day 28
GW- 65kg

I got hold of a scales today and did my first weigh in. A tiny bit disappointed as I hoping for a bigger loss. Still happy it’s going in the right direction.

MammaGnomes · 03/08/2026 22:40

How’s everyone doing on the 2.5 still? I decided to stay on it for my next pen. Took my first dose of it on Friday and I’m starting to feel hungry again. Ideally I want to stay on 2.5 throughout but I’m worried I might need to go up.
anyone else similar? Who’s moved up to 5? How are you finding it?

I’ve gone up yesterday. Not sure about my decision - can barely eat and stomach is very upset. But it is day one so about as bad as it can be. If I’m like this the whole week I’ll have to take half doses for the rest of this one.

BerfyTigot · 04/08/2026 06:20

4 week weigh in today.

SW 113.7kg
CW 104.7kg

9kg in 28 days! I've got a lot to lose and have spent about a third of this time struggling to eat, so not that surprising, but I'm pleased with it!

Staying on 1.25mg for now.

That is a brilliant loss! We are similar weights and also both low dosers (I have been on 2mg).

I also struggle to eat and have started absolutely forcing myself to have a few sips of protein shake in the morning which helps trigger a little bit of an apetitte!

Is anyone keeping it fully secret from their immediate family?

CatMonj · 04/08/2026 08:31

@MammaGnomes I'm the same, jabbed on Friday morning and was feeling hungry yesterday so was concerned it was too weak for me. Ate a small dinner last night though and very full. Woke this morning stomach rumbling 🤷‍♀️

Buzzyfeeder · 04/08/2026 08:36

Jab 4 today and I’m sticking with 2.5 for the reorder. Am 9lbs down after 3 weeks, so just 41lbs to go! Not as dramatic as I would like, but steady will be better long term I’m sure and i need to remind myself only been 3 weeks!
