July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Ooohh! So excited for everyone having feet losses hahah
I havent noticed a drop anywhere yet apart from my boobs and my fingers - not my target areas but I will take it!

Had third jab yesterday. It was SUCH a hectic day, I was on my feet covering someone at work and didnt stop walking/moving/lifting for about 6 hours. Forced down a protein shake and some water and then for the first time in 2 weeks I felt like eating so had a meal out. Went for a local place who did a lovely clear broth with lots of veg, a few noodles and lots of meat. Couldnt finish it but enjoyed every mouthful.

this morning i have taken some creatine with my water and managed to keep 300ml down. Ive been struggling to drink 300ml in the whole day so am happy with that. Making a conscious effort to sip and sip constantly.

Down from 17st 7 to 16st 3

I think my first goal is to be 15st 7 by the time school restarts on Sept 4th. Solid 5 weeks to drop 10 pounds which feels very doable!!

AgedPudding · 30/07/2026 12:16

2nd jab last night haven’t been super hungry again today but this evening I feel like I want to snack but just have no idea what I want like I’m hungry but the thought of anything puts me off has anyone else had the same?

Yes, me. Had 2nd jab Tuesday and I feel a bit snacky at night but when I look at what's available I just don't fancy it. dh came home with fish and chips for him and I didn't even fancy a chip. For me that's very odd.

cutefluffyunicorn · 30/07/2026 16:20

Hi All! Can I join you?
I started with my first jab on Tuesday. I orginally went with boots, but it had to be store collection - and they had no stock and couldnt tell me if/when they may get some?!? So after lots of messaging I got a refund and went with medexpress, and received my pen in 24 hours.
My BMI is sitting around 29, so a way to go. I am also on a medication which causes weight gain, so hoping the injections will counteract this to some extent.
Not feeling too bad so far. Def much less food noise, and not much apetite, but managing to eat . Little bit of nausea but thankfully nothing awful.
Ive also restarted the Caroline Girvan workouts for strength trianing, and hoping to get back to running as havent been in a couple of months!
Ideally need to loose 2 stone so lets see how this goes!

ChocolateIsBad · 30/07/2026 17:52

Welcome @cutefluffyunicorn

Cant believe we’re nearly at the end of July! The August crew will be starting up! Well done everyone.

Boobs. It's all coming off the boobs for me. But I can see hands and feet as well but sadly not so much elsewhere yet. I've had a 5 day mass family holiday but only put on 1.5lbs which is an excellent result - back to weighing daily tomorrow which I have ignored for a few days to see if I can get that off!

BerfyTigot · 30/07/2026 23:25

Just taken my 4th dose. Only taken 1.7mg (40 clicks) due to side effects. My 3rd dose was also 1.7mg and I seem to get a reasonable result without spending 5 hours vomiting 🤢

Happy to be a plodder if that's what it takes!

I do feel thinner too.

BritbirdUK · 31/07/2026 08:13

Weigh in day. This week was my first week of going up to 5 and I have actually felt a bit down. I was only on 2.5 for 4 weeks and moved up. I think potentially I should've stayed on it for another month as I was losing but was having noise still hence trying 5. Since going up I have had a bit of anxiety, been wanting to eat more and definitely had a lot of food noise.

Anyway, to my suprise I lost a surprising amount... Nearly 6lbs. Which officially puts me in another stone bracket and takes my total loss in 36 days to 2 stone, 3.8lb. My goal is 5 stone before Christmas so well on the way.

I am sorry that increasing to 5 has made things harder mentally :(

Well done on that epic loss though! 6lbs is astounding! As is 2 stones in such a small amount of time. I am hoping to have my 2st loss in 5 weeks time - so far over a stone and a bit down

What was your starting stats if you dont mind me asking? Height and weight etc?

MammaGnomes · 31/07/2026 08:56

Weigh day for me today and another 1lb off. A little disappointing as I really wanted to end this pen with 1st loss but 13lb total is a great achievement so far.

will be taking my 6th dose tonight and 1st from my 2nd pen (if that makes sense) I decided to stay on 2.5. Im hoping I can stay on this throughout.

ill have a little break for a couple of weeks after this one as ill be on holiday. We fly next Sunday and im still in 2 minds about if I should take the dose as normal next Friday or skip the 2 weeks and jab again when im back

Went for a two hour walk this morning, waited to weigh until I got back. Seems to have knocked out all the water weight from holiday and I have now reached a new low weight, which I'm thrilled about! BMI now 30.4 so I am creeping towards merely being overweight...

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 31/07/2026 11:35

Morning All, well done on the losses.

Today is the beginning of week 3 for me, but I didn't take a dose last week due to feeling lightheaded and tired for a few days in week 1. I lost 6lb in week 1, then nothing at all in week 2. I was a bit surprised by that as I'd been tracking food carefully, no snacks, and aside from one bad dinner choice (takeaway when staying over at a friends house) have been in a deficit.

In week 2, I definitely still had some suppression for the first part at least. I found that appetite came back before hunger, so I was able to think about food and find things I'd enjoy eating, but wasn't ravenous.

Today I've taken 2/3 of a dose (40 clicks) in the hope of getting back into that sweet spot, or at least having less side effects. Let's see!

RedFatball · 31/07/2026 11:39

Oh and my non scale victory - I have been doing basic strength training from home and I've just had to go and buy heavier dumbbells :-)

Cheesecake53 · 31/07/2026 11:52

I'll do my third dose later today and lost 0.9kg this week. This is my lowest weekly loss since I started, but at least a sensible one. Last night I had one M&S Roasted Vegetable Couscous and then two toast with mackerel in tomato sauce. I don't know what got into me. But onward and downward :)

BritbirdUK · 31/07/2026 12:07

@DaringlyDizzy Thank you. I don't feel like I have necessarily been trying hard, I have just been changing the way I eat, how much I consume and also reducing snacking a lot. I haven't shared my start weight - I felt so depressed about how high it was that I have kept it quiet. But it was high. And I am a very long way off my goal weight. I think the more you need to lose the faster it can come off sometimes. I am certainly not taking anything for granted or expecting the next few stone to come off so quickly!

It will come. Some people can take a couple of weeks to start building up

Cheesecake53 · 31/07/2026 13:52

@Margrethe welcome! The app Shotsy shows how mounjaro builds up in the body overtime. It can take some time. Hope you have to bad side effects!

@BritbirdUK You are doing amazingly. Whatever your starting weight, you are now quite a bit less!

My friend's DD was something like 24 stone when she started MJ and has lost 8 stone in 10 months (and looks incredible, although she was always beautiful)

BlackBean2023 · 31/07/2026 18:50

Trying really hard to make good choices on an AI holiday. Didn’t bring my pen with me and due to jab on Monday although not home until Thursday - I tend to start getting hunger cravings again on a Friday (deliberate - I want to train myself to be able to make good choices and weekends are the hardest part!) so the next 6 days I might put all the weight back on 😬

Cheesecake53 · 31/07/2026 19:04

@BlackBean2023 I wish you much strength, though I imagine it must be hard to resist AI on holiday. Have a lovely time!

BerfyTigot · 31/07/2026 21:15

Tmi - vomited this evening, about 21 hours after jab.

I wish I could predict when it's gong to happen 😕

Oh poor you.
Overall, how does this time around on MJ compare to your previous experience?

BerfyTigot · 31/07/2026 21:19

Slightly better- less vomiting. Diarrhoea about the same

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 31/07/2026 21:22

How long did you persevere last time? Did you stop because of side effects or because you'd reached goal?

ReneBallard · 31/07/2026 22:19
