July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Has anyone heard of the book Weightless by Dr Roscio Salas-Whalen (2026)? Someone on another threat recommended it.

Not read the book but did listen to this podcast she is on when I was deciding whether to start. It is really worth listening to and I would like to read the book.

4th jab later this evening. I feel like I’m in a routine. Not weighing until next week although I’m increasingly curious,I see how easy it is to get sidetracked by the scales. Had a work meeting followed by summer social. Took breakfast and avoided biscuits and chocolates. Lunch was in a pub and not any obvious healthy choices. I had a club sandwich but mainly ate the chicken and bacon which felt ok. I’m at a total loss as to what to drink if avoiding alcohol and fizzy drinks. I had a Diet Coke but didn’t dare risk another so had a glass of tap water. Feels a bit sad. Not against alcohol calories but had one drink since I started and had to lie down. Didn’t want to risk it while with colleagues.

VimtoPrincess · 21/07/2026 19:15

I am going to do my 3rd Jab tomorrow evening and order my next Pen. Its working really well so far with no side effects. I really wish I had bitten the bullet earlier but that's life I suppose. I am not having any crisps, biscuits or chocolate (I massively over indulge in these normally) and I hardly drink alcohol . I need to concentrate on protein and drinking enough water or weak cordials.
Its a work in progress so onwards and upwards. Tomorrow morning is weigh in day so I'm hoping by then I will be around half a stone lighter although I still have an awful long way to go.

LovelyLapin · 21/07/2026 19:52

Do you think it’s ok to have two servings of collagen powder if you’re under for protein? I’m at 71g at the moment.

Mid way through week 3 and my loss has fully stalled for about a week now. Interestingly it coincided with starting strength training again. I am still eating way less than I was, and my activity levels have gone up. So maybe it was just water weight I lost initially, or maybe the muscle is making up for fat loss, or my body is recalibrating quicky to the new calorie intake. If nothing else, it's frankly quite amazing how stubborn my body can be at wanting to keep the weight on!

Whatever it is, it's a bit frustrating as I was hoping for 2-3lbs this week, but I'm going to keep at it and see what happens.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 22/07/2026 12:28

Hi All, I am now on day 6 of week 1, starting to feel less dizzy now but also can feel appetite coming back.

I spoke to a medic from the company I got my pen from, and he suggested delaying next dose until side effects have completely gone and/or injecting a half dose this Friday. I'm not quite sure what to do......

rose7120 · 22/07/2026 17:21

I'm half way through week two. I'm tracking food and mainly focused on fibre and protein. I'm always off target for fibre, over target for protein, fat and sugar, and okay with calories. So really thinking about adjusting what I eat.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for where to find recipes? I do a lot of meat and veg but realise it will come a bit boring!

Really wish mounjaro had tackled my sweet tooth, but alas not!

Makes two dessert ramekins

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cottage Cheese Mousse

  • Pinch of salt
  • Sweetener to taste (blend first before deciding whether you need any)
Method
  1. Add everything to a blender or food processor.
  2. Blend for 1–2 minutes until completely smooth.
  3. Taste. If you want it sweeter, add a little sweetener such as Stevia
  4. Chill for 30 minutes for a mousse-like texture, or eat straight away.
Approximate nutrition

  • Protein: ~28 g
  • Carbohydrate: ~35 g
  • Fat: ~11 g
  • Fibre: ~7–8 g

Approximately:

  • Calories: ~175–180 kcal
  • Protein: ~14 g
  • Carbohydrate: ~17–18 g
  • Fat: ~5–6 g

What is your protein target? I've started tracking which I've never done before. I had about 70g today, about 55g yesterday, but no idea what is good or ideal. How has week 2 been for you versus week 1?

MammaGnomes · 22/07/2026 20:39

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation if you Google TDEE calc and put your stats in it will give you your maintenance cals. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see the suggested macros for ‘cutting’ basically weightloss. It’s 500 cals off your maintenance cals but will also give you a target for protein carbs and fats. I should aim for around 100g of protein. I’m way off! I really need to do better with it. I’ve got some shakes but they are meal replacement ones so are 400cals and i don’t want to get into the habit of relying on meal replacements

LovelyLapin · 22/07/2026 21:02

I have ordered some protein yoghurts in my shopping which should be delivered shortly. I’ve not had anything sweet for a month now so I’m not sure if they’re a good idea or not.

Another tip I got today is to jab in the morning not at night, that means you’re asleep for the 8 hours of lowest suppression each week. Seems obvious but I was jabbing before bed time and feeling it the whole day!

LovelyLapin · 22/07/2026 21:03

Going mad. Three weeks. 4th jab today but that’s three weeks on mounjaro.

Well done @RedFatball

does anyone want a £40 discount for Bolt?

I would, is it your referral code? Or is it a discount?
I just started last week with Bolt (Monjaro), took my 2nd jab last night. Very happy no side effects and 4.5lbs down in 1st week.

It’s my referral code- will you be able to use it if you’ve already used them?

BettinaBumblebee · 22/07/2026 22:38

Another 2lbs off at the end of week 3 making a total loss of 10lbs. I’m very happy with that and have ordered my next pen at 2.5mg again. I feel well and don’t crave sweets, bread, pasta etc which are usually my biggest downfall. I’m eating a clean, healthy diet which I’m really enjoying. First time for everything 😀

In my many attempts with weight watchers over the years, I’d never heard of the term food noise and only came across it recently while researching Mounjaro. I only realised I did have it when it stopped after my first jab! It’s like a switch has been turned off. Completely fascinating.

Franticbutterfly · 22/07/2026 23:01

Hi. I took my first dose last night. Over the last 7 months I have gained back most of the weight I lost a couple of years back due to family circumstances. So I need to lose 40-50lb again and don’t have the same capacity as I did before. I’m hoping the MJ will help with that.

I’m sure it will. I would have 100% said I didn’t have food noise. But I did. Maybe it was quieter than others have it but it was there. I know that because of how different I feel in the 12 hours before the next jab.

Good luck. The MJ makes weight loss so much easier.

ChocolateIsBad · 23/07/2026 09:41

4th 2.5mg dose today and 2.4 pounds loss this week.

Total of 8.3 pounds lost in last 3 wks.

Squiggle13 · 23/07/2026 09:49

Hi, hoping I’m not too late to join!

Did my first jab on Sunday 19th. Mounjaro 2.5ml. I went with boots (for the points 😜)

After 2 years of steady weight gain, after a bereavement and then lots of parental care I have finally bit the bullet.

My sis & bro in law have done the jabs and look amazing, so it really gave me the confidence to go ahead after being on the fence for so long.

I have tried dieting myself but loose any motivation after a few weeks. Also hitting that early 40s where weight just seems so hard to shift now!

Starting weight: 14st 5 1/2lb — 5ft 2in

I feel like i lost my appetite straight away on the Monday. I stocked up on lots of quick protein rich foods and made sure I was drinking lots of water. Everything was ok and then yeasterday in the office I had non stop diarrhoea all day 😭 managed to get through it and the commute home. Kept a little food down in the evening but up again in the night. Trying to rehydrate today with electrolytes but any words of wisdom from people further on would be great!

Good luck to everyone, you all sound like you’re doing great already!

Cheesecake53 · 23/07/2026 10:50

I am sorry about the diarrhoea, @Squiggle13 that sounds awful. Did you maybe eat something very fatty or greasy? I read that can cause diarrhoea with WLI. I hope you are better today Flowers.

AelinAG · 23/07/2026 11:04

Reporting in from day four of stomach bug recovery - I think feeling better on Sunday night made me over confident. I’ve definitely eaten badly this week but only beige stodgy stuff feels safe.

my googling informs me that any stomach illness on the jab will last a lot longer because the mechanism that slows the stomach emptying will also slow recovery when the stomach is inflamed.

home from holiday tomorrow and hoping I can get back…and looking forward to a break from holidays/trips/work travel so I can really focus and hopefully see some bigger losses.

LivelyCyanPombear · 23/07/2026 11:14

2nd jab last night. Food noise definitely returned two days before and although I stuck to my diet I definitely ate a lot more.

I am a classic binge eater which I have definitely fallen back into since my dad died last year. I did have a quick "shall I have a binge" thought around monday but quickly squashed it as a) I am doing well and b) MJ is too expensive to waste! The MJ being there in the background is so helpful.

SW approx 15st 7lb (16st the week before starting MJ, definitely a massive water weight loss)
