July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

I also use the app shotsy to see how the injections built up in my body. Does anyone else use something similar?

What does the app show you / do?

48 hours since my first jab. Was really nervous about the whole thing, considered just binning the pen and cutting my losses. However - wow, what a difference this makes to cravings. I am finding it ridiculously easy to eat healthier foods and not to constantly graze on rubbish. Side effects way milder than I anticipated. I've always had digestive issues so was concerned it would be awful but in fact that's possibly made it easier as the slight bloating and burps don't feel like that big a deal for me and entirely worth it so far. Making sure I eat protein and fibre with each meal and not going too long without eating, even though that would be easy to do. And drinking loads of water. Overall I just feel better. More focused on other things. Not a smart move for me financially but feeling grateful to have this as a tool to get me back to healthier ways.

Morning all!
@AelinAGi agree- I definitely see it in my face, no one has commented anything yet though (apart from my husband but he knows) Hope you’re feeling better!

@RedFatballgenius idea with Chat

its the start of week 4 for me (weighing in a Monday but jabbing Wednesday so 3 jabs in) am disappointed with only -1.4lb so have been trying to focus on the positives

  1. a loss is a loss
  2. its nearly 10lb so far which is bloody brilliant
  3. it’s now averaging 2lb a week after the initial big loss week 1, if I keep this up I will be at goal for Christmas!!

First day of the school holidays for me, I’ve had a lie in, done some weights, now breakfast in the garden. However I now have to go to school to review sats papers as they couldn’t deliver results on time 😡 Have a good day all

First day of annual leave for me! Teenagers all holed up in bed so I've done a weights session and been out for a 5k walk. We aren't going away anywhere until next week so I have some lovely calm days when I have nothing definite to do.

And I've done a load of laundry which is a bag of clothes my friend has given me - she is 3 stone down on MJ and hopefully I will be following her soon...

@Nomorepants it shows how Mounjaro builds up in your body after a few weeks.

Jab 2 today and first weigh in this morning… 😁

Height: 5’2
SW: 71kg
CW: 67kg
TW: 54kg

I could definitely feel my appetite come back yesterday - I actually made the most of it as it meant I could eat a decent nutritious meal; something I’ve been struggling with.

Twinwife · Yesterday 18:45

Hi everyone, I’ve finally had a chance to catch up as it’s been busy in my life with end of school jobs and juggling work and kids!

I’ve had jab 4 on Sunday and seem to be getting into a routine. I find Mon-weds I feel a bit ropey, with sluggish bowels and bloating. I’ve bought some bloating supplements from Wild Dose to see if this helps. The sulphur burps continue!

I’m down 5kg now, but the weight loss has slowed this week. I’ve been able to hit my protein goal but do struggle to eat enough some days. I’ve been trying to eat more Little and often the last week, so perhaps that’s why the loss has stalled. I am due on next week though, so it might just be my usual pms where I gain a little weight.

I was hoping to get to 70kg before my holiday on 8th August. I think that’s probably a bit optimistic (currently 72.8kg) but who knows. The first weigh loss is exciting, as it is with all diets I’ve tried. However, with this I seem to be able to keep the momentum going. I probably would have given up by now!!

first night of my 2 nighter away with work and I honestly don’t recognise myself. Usually I’d have train snacks to keep me going on my 3 hour journey. I had a wrap from Starbucks but checked the cals/protein before so I knew I was making a half decent choice. I was planning on taking lunch but I was too busy before I had to leave.

dinner tonight was chicken breast from M&S and their Caesar salad bowl and some fruit. I’d usually be ordering a McDonald’s or similar and have all the M&S treats. I’m a sucker for a Percy pig and I walked straight past them.

im at a social after work tomorrow though so we’ll see if the good choices continue

Cheesecake53 · Yesterday 20:58

That's great @MammaGnomes ! Fingers crossed it will continue!

Jab and weigh day for me - another 3.1lbs down which I'm very happy about!

It's pretty amazing isn't it, how easy it is to resist things you would have reached for previously. Been a bit of an eye opener for me as to how much of my previous eating habits and cravings were driven by things going on in my body. I had been concerned that my habits of reaching for constant snacks etc would still be there even if not hungry but that's not the case.

Well done @RedFatball

does anyone want a £40 discount for Bolt?

Buzzyfeeder · Today 10:25

Week one weigh in for me down 6.5lbs I’m so happy after all the trepidation! Had a great week - kept fluids up, protein up, steps up and no side effects at all, it’s unbelievable! Second jab jabbed and I’m excited for week 2!

Well done to all on your losses.

Weigh in day for me:
SW 113.7 kg
Week 1 111 kg
Week 2 108.5 kg

Haven't been very well this week. Thought I'd escaped side effects initially, but they started 3.5 days after jab, with vomiting and diarrhoea. Today is the first day I've felt normal. So I've decided to delay my jab this week as tomorrow we're travelling to see family for an 80th birthday party.

Will be jabbing on Thursday evening and doing 2/3 dose so 40 clicks. I've also got some cyclizine.

Cheesecake53 · Today 12:28

Oh, I am sorry @BerfyTigot, that must have been awful! I hope that was a one off and you will have a nice time with your family! But the losses are wonderful!

AelinAG · Today 13:02

Is anyone else struggling to drink enough? Normally I’m a three Stanley cups a day girl but since starting the jab I don’t seem as thirsty/not snacking as much so not grabbing drinks with my snacks.

I’m not feeling great today but I think that’s being a lot less hydrated usual. Had a stomach bug on Sunday which won’t have helped. Currently sipping a fat Coke in the hope it’ll make me feel passable enough to eat.

YourJollyGoose · Today 13:34

Weigh in 3 for me and 2lbs off
SW 190
CW 179.8
Total loss of 10.2lbs in 3 weeks I’m very happy with that. I’m off on holiday tomorrow so hopefully I’ll at least stay the same which would be wonderful.

Cheesecake53 · Today 15:11

Has anyone heard of the book Weightless by Dr Roscio Salas-Whalen (2026)? Someone on another threat recommended it.

I have always struggled to drink enough, but agree it is worse on the jabs. It seems to be suppressing thirst as well as hunger?

Day 2 of my annual leave - did strength training this morning and went for a 9km walk. I am still marvelling at a drug that seems to make me WANT to exercise in a way I didn't have before.

Very much enjoying the app for strength training - called Ladder and it plans everything out for you so I don't have to think about what to do, just open the app and do the days workout. I have a code for a 30 day trial if anyone wants one - I have some 2kg and some 3kg dumbbells at home and I don't need anything else.

Wigwambam65 · Today 17:12

I weighed this morning and lost another 3lbs. Am very happy with this..

I have a question about my third dose due tonight. I have used my abdomen for the last 2 jabs. I would prefer to use the first side of abdomen rather than my leg this time. The recommendations is to alternate but will it matter if I just go back to the first side of abdomen rather than using my leg? Anyone done this.?
