July 2026 Mounjaro starters

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

Hi, I've had friends staying since Sunday so will have to catch up with how you all are doing.
I had my 4th jab on Tuesday and I am down about 1.5lbs since my 3rd jab weigh in. It's been an interesting week as the food I've been making has been very different than what I have been having for the since I started on MJ. Our friends don't know I'm on MJ and I didn't want to make it obvious to them by eating different food to everyone else so I tried to be "good" but did end up having a couple of drinks and some dessert. I think the small weightloss I've had is down to the first half of the week before they came to stay and I've stabilised for the second half, which I feel is a win.

What I did find interesting is that I'm fairly sure in the first couple of weeks (after jabs 1 and 2) I don't think I could have eaten the desserts or had some wine, the thought was quite nauseating to me, so I think I might be getting a bit used to the 2.5mg, so having already ordered the 5mg pen for next month I think it may have been the right choice for me....I just hope any potential side effects are limited.

The amount left in my pen after the 4th jab feels like such a waste but I'm not attempting to get it out.

Agree @RedUn, was just looking at my pen and quite a bit left. I might investigate the golden dose stuff.

Mine is about the same amount @ChocolateIsBad...I think I was hoping it might be a really small amount 😅

What is your protein target? I've started tracking which I've never done before. I had about 70g today, about 55g yesterday, but no idea what is good or ideal. How has week 2 been for you versus week 1?

You know, I didn't even know what it was - I've blindly just being following nutracheck and it's percentages! It has 60g so that's why I've been going over :) 70g is good! It's just completely changed how I'm eating, but I feel like I'm starting from scratch learning how to meet these targets!

VimtoPrincess · 23/07/2026 18:30

I have just started week 3. Got weighed yesterday morning and only lost 1lb. A bit disappointed to be honest because I have been really careful. I shall carry on though. I have also ordered my 2nd lot of medication. I am thinking that after that I may need to up my dose but will have to wait and see about that. No side effects at all. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

I have used up mine. Bought needles from Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/09Kh8ZDY
& no ill effects. Process was much easier than actual pen. Swabbed end. Inserted needle. Pulled out .60ml & jabbed. Followed instructions from another thread which I then couldn’t find. So propose you do your own research just incase I made a mistake.

Hiya am I too late to join in? I did my first injection on Tuesday so only day 2 for me but have not snacked in the evening at all the last few days which is just unheard of! Got about 3 stone I would like to lose after 2 babies and being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, been struggling for the last few years to actually lose anything so I’m hoping that this will work for me any hints or tips from those of you that started at the beginning of the month please throw them at me 🤣💛

LovelyLapin · 23/07/2026 22:44

@MamaK19

Things I’ve changed since starting.

Snacking. Zero
Collagen powder - nutrition geeks
Biotin - nutrition geeks
Exercise - have swapped a spin class for two Les Mills toning classes
Fruit - didn’t eat much before (low carb) have added in two kiwis/day for fibre
Fibre tablets - having one fybogel tablet a day

My protein isn’t high enough and my calories are probably too low.

I was constipated - maybe going 2 x week. More like daily now. If this is MJ 💩 then it’s fine with me.

I think I will use mine next week. 🤞 I have the needles anyway - bought by accident - thought they were like calpol bottle syringes!

Was the needle long?

Just started! Im slightly different in that my weight isnt down to food. Ive been calorie controlling for over 5 years and work out several times a week. In 2020 I fell ill and had chemo and it broke something in me! I developed 2 additional autoimmune illnesses and started piling weight on. I eat super clean already and limit to 1400 calories. I was seen by a geneticist in London who suggested Mounjaro for the GIP inhibitor side and that it can reduce inflammation as I am retaining a HUGE amount of water. I started on 10th July. Starting weight 17st 6 pound. This morning I am 16st 8. All water weight but still pleased. In terms of my my illnesses symptoms - psoriasis less itchy, less hair loss already and joints less painful. I am on 2mg not 2.5mg and struggling to eat at all

DaringlyDizzy · 24/07/2026 08:42

Forgot to add I also take creatine, collagen, iron and ubiquinol. Weight train 3x a week an cardio 2x a week. In an ideal world I would like to drop to 12st

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 24/07/2026 09:26

Since Mounjaro: I take creatine mixed with Fybogel every day.

Existing habits: first thing every morning I take ferrous sulphate (diagnosed iron deficiency), Vitamin C, MSM and biotin.

At dinner I take magnesium, Vit D and omega 3 as they’re fat soluble.

RedFatball · 24/07/2026 10:07

I'm going away today for 5 days and I'm a tiny bit nervous I won't have scales with me as I'm a daily weigher (aka data junkie). Also going into an environment where there will be a lot of food and alcohol on offer...

on the upside I bought new running shoes and ran this morning for the first time in about 3 years! I was a consistant half marathon runner years ago and would love to get back to that..

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 24/07/2026 10:43

Morning all, end of week 1 for me and I've lost 6lb. I'm planning to jab later in the day as I've got to give a presentation at 2pm and want to be on top form for that. I'm thinking of having a half dose as the side effects from week 1 (while a lot better) haven't completely gone.

How is everyone else doing?

@RedFatball I feel your pain about the scales. I work away in the week and don't have any available then.

Cheesecake53 · 24/07/2026 10:53

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation - 6lbs loss is brilliant! I am having my second jab later today too. Shotsy says I have still 0.82mg Mounjaro in me and I am curious how it will built up over the coming weeks. Suppression has been good this first week and I lost 1.6kg (3.5lb).

MammaGnomes · 24/07/2026 13:29

Weigh in day for me and another 2lbs off. That’s 12lb total on my first pen (including the 3lb I managed to drop whilst waiting for it be delivered)

im going to try and get the golden dose out of my pen tonight and hopefully can do another 2lbs making it 1st on my first pen.

I do have a dilemma though. I go on holiday in a couple of weeks and can’t decide if I should take my dose before I go ( I jab on Fridays and we fly on a Sunday)

I always intended on taking a break for the holiday but I don’t want to undo all my hard work. We’re also going to Eypyt which I think is relevant as I’m also worried about getting ill regardless of the MJ. I haven’t had any side effects so far but don’t know if I want to risk it or not.

RedFatball · 24/07/2026 13:56

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation it feels totally irrational to say I don't want to be away from the scales yet also very logical in my mind... I think my family would think I was totally mental if I took the bathroom scales on holiday though!

BritbirdUK · 24/07/2026 18:51

Hey all. Busy week so not really been online as much. Weigh in was this morning and I have lost 6.5lb making a total of 1 stone 12.8lb in 4 weeks which I am really happy with. I am jabbing tonight and going up to 5 so will be interesting to see how that goes and if some more of the noise goes away.

hussherbye · 24/07/2026 18:58

Feeling massively frustrated, I seem to have stalled in weight loss, nothing has changed, sticking to 1500 or less, food noise still much reduced. Seven day average on MFP says 1200- might it be I’m not eating enough?? Stomach also feels a bit bloated again 😩

AvidLimeZebra · 24/07/2026 19:23

I’m coming to the end of week 4 and am going to do 2.5 for another month and see how it goes. Has anyone else stayed on it for two months rather than moving up?
I have a 40 pound off bolt as well if anyone wants to use it-I’ve found them brilliant and really quick at messaging on WhatsApp when I’ve asked them anything

How are you managing those huge loses? Slightly jealous but would love your tips!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 24/07/2026 20:36

I've bailed on my second jab as I still feel brain foggy and am still somewhat suppressed. I've eaten about 1000 calories (but am having wine, so it won't be a major deficit). If I feel ok tomorrow I might jab. If not, I'll have to wait until at least next Thursday evening as I'm travelling for work.
Not sure what to think about all of that. I'll be disappointed if it's just not for me as I'd love to get blood sugar sorted properly. And not be overweight.

I’m staying on 2.5mg. It seems to be working of for me at the moment. I’m about 1 stone down/6kg in a month.

I’ve also bit the bullet and ordered some of the syringes to try and get the 5th dose out. I left the pen in the fridge after the 5th dose as there seemed so much left in the pen!

syringes should be arriving today

Cheesecake53 · 25/07/2026 09:06

@Twinwife may I ask which syringes did you buy?
