July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

my pen arrived on Monday and I jabbed the same evening… I’m glad I did!

no side effects apart from no food noise AT ALL. It’s the weirdest feeling.

Yesterday I managed a very small bowl of pasta and meatballs for dinner and today I had a slice of pizza at lunch in the office and a yogurt. I can see how I’m going to need high fibre and high protein snacks to hand.

Wigwambam65 · 15/07/2026 20:16

Weighed yesterday and now 11st 7. I lost 3 pounds so slight error in my initial post (ie I was actually 11st 10 on starting).

i took my second dose last night and feel slightly nauseous now. I have been eating smaller amounts and have had to force myself to have dinner tonight. Am drinking plenty of water.

Onwards and upwards.

I haven’t told a soul that I’m doing this 😳

AvidLimeZebra · 15/07/2026 21:05

I’m on week 3 now and have reordered 2.5 but am now wondering if I should have gone for 5? How do you know when to move up?

LovelyLapin · 15/07/2026 23:40

I read that you should dose up when the weight loss stalls for a couple of weeks. I’m going to do another month on 2.5mg as I’ve got holidays coming up so I don’t want side effects during them. I’ve just injected dose 3.

LovelyLapin · 16/07/2026 08:40

Week 3 weigh in.

SW: 177.2lb BMI 30.2
CW: 168.6lb BMI 28.8
GW: 146lb BMI 24.9

ChocolateIsBad · 16/07/2026 09:30

Week 1: 2 pounds
Week 2: 4 pounds

Happy with this. Jab 3 today.

I have a £50 off code for MedExpress if anyone would like me to share it with them if going to MedExpress first time.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 16/07/2026 13:33

Can I join?

I got a pen this week and am planning to have first jab tomorrow morning. I'm a bit nervous!

I am mid-50s, 5 foot 6, about 13.5 stone, so have 3 or so stone to lose and definitely want my blood sugar to get out of the pre-diabetic range.

LovelyLapin · 16/07/2026 14:01

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation - I was so scared but I’ve literally had zero symptoms apart from zero hunger days 1-6.

I was already low carb though before I started.

LovelyLapin · 16/07/2026 14:14

I have a Bolt and a Farmeci.com 10% discount code if anyone finds they are the cheapest option for them.

That's definitely reassuring. I'm not exactly low carb, but not massively high either.
I think I just need to do it!

We’re about the same height and weight stats@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation I’m on my 3rd week now and was so scared at first. I watched lots of videos on how to administer it and read the leaflet back to front.
ive had no horrid side effects so far and the suppression kicked in straight away. I jab on Friday evening so it’s strongest over the weekend when I’m most likely to indulge.
it does wear off as the week progresses but not until about Wednesday and not by much. I’m still having to remind myself to have some lunch.
good luck

LivelyCyanPombear · 16/07/2026 17:08

I got impatient and took my first dose last night, was not painful at all and less difficult than I expected!

No side effects at all yet but the lack of hunger today has been really nice. I am glad I took it yesterday as was already wavering a bit on my diet.

Puddleduck2013 · 16/07/2026 18:30

Dose 3 tomorrow but don’t think I did dose 2 properly.
do I go through the full priming routine every dose?

ChocolateIsBad · 16/07/2026 20:52

Yes you do. Just follow the instructions on patient leaflet each time. It gets easier I found. Felt less nervous about doing it.

MammaGnomes · 17/07/2026 08:18

3rd weigh in today and another 2lbs (and a bit) off at least I’m staying consistent. Total loss is 7lb now and although it sounds ridiculous I can definitely start to see it in my face. I was on teams calls for most of the day yesterday and really noticed my face looked a bit slimmer.

I spoke too soon on the no side effects front. I’ve been a little constipated the last couple of days. It’s not unusual for me to go a couple of days without going but this morning it’s a bit uncomfortable. I’m just having a coffee (my first since starting) and hoping that gets things moving. Might have another cheeky weigh in after and see if managed to shift another pound.

4th jab tonight

5ft7
SW 13st4lb
CW 12st11lb
GW 10st7lb

BritbirdUK · 17/07/2026 09:56

Well done to those who have posted losses this week! Great to see the numbers going down. I only lost just over 1lb this week. I know it is a loss, I know this will happen but my brain is screaming out to me saying "you have failed" I am seeing the nurse today so I think I am going to ask about going up a dose. The food noise is there, I have noticed that compared to week 1 and 2 I am not only eating more but am also hungry and thinking a bit more about food so I do think it will be the right choice. On a positive note, I went to a work event last night and managed to resist all the free biscuits and the food - there really wasn't anything healthy as an option so I just felt like the best option was to steer clear.

@MammaGnomes Thank you. I have had my first jab this morning (I was impressed that the needle was tiny and painless), so let's see. How are you doing weight-loss wise?

RedFatball · 17/07/2026 16:27

I went to a work lunchtime thing yesterday and ended up eating loads of pizza. This was a mistake

upside I haven't wanted anything else today. Had Huel for breakfast and a bottle of Coke mid morning but that's it so far. Salmon planned for tea

BlackBean2023 · 17/07/2026 17:06

Went for a work lunch today - Turkish so there was a. It of bread involved! Blush

had chicken shish and a yogurt starter so lots of protein.

not weighing in until Sunday morning (I jab on a Monday) but hoping to see at least a 2lb loss. I’ve barely eaten anything this week - but it’s been incredibly freeing not to be thinking about food constantly.

I’ve also saved at least £30 on coffees/snacks which means the pen is paying for itself!

rose7120 · 17/07/2026 17:49

I mean, just reading about Turkish and pizza made me hungry, so perhaps the suppression is wearing off 🤣

I'm day 5 of the first jab. I feel great! Its not so much the food noise for me, but just it's removed me being driven by hunger and not feeling weak through hunger.

I'm due on my period and trying to be cool as I read some things (during going down a Reddit rabbit hole) about it making periods heavier, but hopefully it doesn't 😬

I'm just focusing on tracking food at the moment and making sure I get enough fibre and protein, ignoring calories as that felt too much. I also need to get on with strength training, but I don't do any at the moment. Is anyone else in the same position? Planning to start at home!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 17/07/2026 18:01

So, having had first jab this morning, I have definitely experienced reduction in appetite but have also been a bit dizzy (seems a bit better now).

Questions for the experienced jabbers:

  • Do you tend to feel 'not hungry' all the time, or does it tend to be more in the day and you're hungrier in the evening?
  • Do you find it wears off in between jabs and if so, how different is it between day 1 or 2 and day 6, for example?
  • Has anyone had the dizziness and did it go away quickly?

Thanks all!

ChocolateIsBad · 17/07/2026 19:50

Hi I took my 3rd 2.5mg dose yesterday but since yesterday morning (before dose), I’ve found it hard to take a deep breath, I get a pain on left side of chest when I do take a deeper breath. Anyone had this? I thought it would resolve overnight but hasn’t. No health issues, not constipated or bloated, no wind etc.. Seems focused on left side and front of chest..

LovelyLapin · 17/07/2026 23:36

That doesn’t sound good @ChocolateIsBad

Is it worth a chat with 111?

LovelyLapin · 17/07/2026 23:39

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation

Jab 1 - Wednesday PM - Noticed the following Tue I felt hungry.

Jab 2 - maybe something Tue night / Wed morning.

Some headaches, nothing an electrolyte drink and painkillers hasn’t helped. But headaches are my normal.

MammaGnomes · 17/07/2026 23:46

@ChocolateIsBad I’d definitely get that checked out! Hope it eases though and you start to feel better soon.

@BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation I jab Friday evening before bed and notice the suppression straight away on the Saturday morning. It’s really high over the weekend and then gradually reduces over the week. By Thursday/Friday I am able to finish a meal but still don’t feel like snacking inbetween so definitely manageable.

still Can’t get my head around not really wanting to eat much. We picked up a McDonald’s for a treat for my daughter on her last day of school today. Normally I’d be nicking a couple of fries but the thought didn’t cross my mind!
