July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

I have it still sitting in my fridge since December. It's still in date but someone was very disapproving in January and I couldn't work up the nerve to do it .Im terrified of getting it wrong. For some reason I have a mental block about injecting stuff into me.

Im going to start tomorrow. Does anyone else feel like this?

It’s a bit weird as a concept I’d agree. Versus pills which we probably all do regularly.

I recommend you can have someone to go through the instructions with you. Also it doesn’t hurt at all.

Octnec · 14/07/2026 08:34

Morning all, how are you?

I am struggling to eat enough, I think the key is having high protein/high fibre snacks readily available because I don’t really have the desire to make a proper lunch/dinner.

I’m drinking plenty though!

I’ve had a couple of headaches and a couple of waves of nausea but nothing too bad fortunately

rose7120 · 14/07/2026 08:48

Hello everyone

I'd like to join. I started yesterday and then became instantly like I can't eat anything, which was totally in my head haha. So trying to start today focusing on protein and fibre and eating normally.

Like most I have struggled for so long to loose weight, especially after having children. That coupled with diastasis recti and adenomyosis means I have such a pregnant looking tummy so hoping to work on that at the same time as it causes me so much angst.

Starting weight 12st8lbs
41, 5ft5

Mine has just been delivered and I think I’m going to take it today as I can’t risk someone seeing it in the fridge. I want this to be my journey and I want to decide who, when and if I tell anyone! Wish me luck, feels like a big step.

missedtherainbow · 14/07/2026 12:26

Buzzyfeeder
Good luck!
I know exactly what you mean. My pen is hidden in the fridge. I haven’t told anyone in the real world that I’m doing it.
It’s my journey and I want to decide if and when I want to share it.
i had my second injection on Sunday. Feel very positive and determined so far 🤞

Buzzyfeeder · 14/07/2026 12:49

Thanks @missedtherainbow the deed is done!

YourJollyGoose · 14/07/2026 12:57

Morning all, week 2 weigh in for me today 3lbs down (8.2lbs in total) and 3rd jab tonight. All good this week, had to really watch my fibre as I could feel a bit of constipation coming on. I still can’t quite believe how well this works, I do think about food but mainly - I must eat my breakfast by 8am or else I won’t want lunch until 4pm or I must eat xyz or I won’t get enough fibre or protein. I have in fact forgotten to eat lunch twice and had to eat really late which never happens! I have had the odd sweet thing but it takes no effort at all to not reach for more.

All in all super happy and feel very in control.
SW 190lbs
CW 181.8lbs

Same. Popped it in the fridge but not bothered if my family see it as I've told them. Will take it later when I've plucked up courage. Break a leg!!

BerfyTigot · 14/07/2026 13:40

Struggling a bit today. Weigh in and jab tomorrow.

Anyone using Me360? If so how often do you update?

RedUn · 14/07/2026 14:18

Hi All, I've had my 3rd jab this morning and after 2 weeks I've lost 7lbs (4&3), which I'm happy with. I've been quite strict about what I'm eating and had no alcohol. Side effects largely gone however I have bought some psyllium husk to boost fibre. Struggling like many of you to have a decent level of protein.

I've been up and down in mood this week mainly due to buying new scales which have me 3lbs heavier than my old ones. I know it's only 3lbs but for some reason it made me panic about whether the 2.5mg would carry on working next month or whether hunger/cravings would creep in and my progress would slow down. I ended up ordering a 5mg pen for next month and now I'm worrying if I've done the right thing 😆.

To add to the supplement discussions, I've been on collagen powder (did start on one of the gel sachet ones but they are so expensive) and biotin for some time to help with hair thinning (menopause) and I think they have really helped. Takes a while but I have lots of regrowth in areas where I had lost hair.
I also got the meno bundle from Nutrition Geeks (it was on offer) and I do think this is has helped me too, so might continue with that if it's not too costly.

Sorry for rambling on.

Well done everyone with your progress so far and good luck to the new starters.

My husband knows I'm jabbing but I don't want my teenage kids to know. So my pen lives in the fridge in a cardboard box that the pureed garlic comes in. I can guarantee none of them will ever find it.

jab day for me today, weighed in at 2.6lbs loss over the week. I'm mildly disappointed but hey that's nearly 3lbs which is REALLY GOOD.

RedFatball · 14/07/2026 21:59

@RedUnive found the meno bundle really good and not really expensive. I think I paid £25 but it's a two month supply so I think prettt decent?

Huel emailed me today with a £15 off offer so I've bought some of the black edition banana powder to try and get more protein in...

Edinvillian · 14/07/2026 22:02

Third jab for me and it was a 4lb loss this week so 9lb total in 2 weeks. Pretty pleased. I’m hoping for a stone by the end of the month.

What does everyone think about micro dosing? So I’m thinking of getting the 5mg pen next time and taking half doses so still 2.5mg. Then my pen should last 8 weeks for £179.

BettinaBumblebee · 14/07/2026 22:28

Well done to everyone so far and welcome to the newbies.! Just taken my 3rd jab this evening. Weighed in this morning and very happy with 2 more lbs off this week, making a total of 8lbs in 2 weeks.

Side effects have been practically zero over the last week. I do tend to get a metallic taste for about an hour after the jab but it fades without any issues, usually by bedtime. I did read somewhere that side effects can ramp up in week 3. Has this happened to anyone here?

Ive had to give up a weekly class to be able to afford this but it’s a sacrifice worth taking and I feel incredibly lucky to have a chance at getting to a healthy weight. Something I’d all but given up on.

I'm planning to buy a 5mg pen and do 40 clicks instead of 60. This gives me 6 weeks at 3.3mg. Saves some money, increases dose more slowly but Bolt say I have to order at least once every 6 weeks so stays within that...

hussherbye · 15/07/2026 07:17

Ooh that’s interesting about micro dosing. Bolt recommended I stay on 2.5 so that’s what I’ve ordered but might try your idea @RedFatballnext.

feeling a bit deflated this morning, silly really, I’ve been weighing Monday Wednesday Friday and so far have seen between 1-3lbs loss each time, but today was only 0.4lb. I think the answer is to stop weighing so often 🤪

Mine were surprisingly supportive. But understand why you wouldn’t.

BritbirdUK · 15/07/2026 10:44

@BettinaBumblebee I am on week 3 and have actually found that this has been the week where I am more hungry and having a few more cravings. I think if someone gave me a tub of ice cream now I would eat all of it! But also feel really sick after it.... I also got the metallic taste the first 2 jabs but didn't get it this time.

@hussherbye definitely don't feel deflated - do what works for you with the weighing. I only do it weekly because I think if I see major fluctuations I will either get overly excited or depressed that I am not losing enough.

@Edinvillian and @RedFatball the micro dosing sounds interesting, I'd been slightly deterred by the 'must use the pen within 30 days', I wondering again if I should give it a go?

BerfyTigot · 15/07/2026 11:38

I think i read that the pen keeps longer than 30 days opened if it's in the fridge. But can't remember where i read that.

So, weigh in today and I'm down 2.7 kg! Though it's not exact as my start weight was done fully clothed in the middle of the day and on different scales 🙄

But these are the scales I'll be using from now on, so will go with that.

Also done 2nd jab now.

@RedFatball my husband also knows but my kids are hugely judgemental about fat jabs, so am keeping it secret from them! Mine's in a tomato puree box 😁

Nowimhereandimlost · 15/07/2026 11:52

I'm halfway through wk2 and have lost 8lbs so far in total. It's working very well but I feel exhausted and my blood pressure must be low as I'm pretty dizzy too. I also woke up last night with stomach pain and diarrhea - I'm pretty susceptible to this generally but haven't had it in a while. Could just be a bug but I'm guessing there's no knowing!

Forced down some steel cut oats and banana this morning because as well as losing weight I want to feel healthy and energised, but I just don't fancy anything. Had a boiled egg for dinner. I'd rather start eating a bit more and lose more slowly, proving tricky!

I'm a bit wary of messing around with the pens/dosage. I know a lot of people seem to do this but it feels risky?

I’ve been reading that if you keep it in the fridge then it will be fine. Some are getting the even bigger ones and it covers longer. Not sure how long I can put off Bolt but even if I buy 2 months of the 5mg pens, they will last 16 weeks. Then I can switch provider but may have to go back down to the 2.5mg then.

This is what the prescribing information states:

6.4 Special precautions for storage
Store in a refrigerator (2 °C – 8 °C).
Do not freeze.
After first use, Mounjaro may be stored unrefrigerated for up to 30 days at a temperature not above 30 °C and then the pre-filled KwikPen must be discarded

So once you’ve used it, you’ve 30 days. Risky, even if in fridge, to keep using it after this time. Every time you use it and pierce the stopper, bacteria, fungi etc are introduced into the drug solution. Mounjaro is a biologic drug so it’s a perfect substance for (biologic) microbes to grow in. It will also naturally degrade over time and efficacy will decrease alongside this which will translate into lower suppression. Preservatives will also degrade over time especially when exposed to room temperatures.

These storage conditions are studied extensively to ensure drug acts as it should over 30 days. Personally I’d keep in fridge all the time if possible. The company will have studied it being stored outside of the fridge so ok to store outside of it.

I’m not a fan of playing around with the dosing either. I think people are taking unnecessary risks with counting clicks, dosing at different unapproved doses, intervals etc - no scientific basis at all for this. This is a medicine and it needs to be treated as one.

They may be supportive but I just feel a bit weird about it? Although the two eldest were at home today when my next pen was delivered and I had to be quite "never you mind" about what it was! Luckily very discreet packaging...

I have a work event at the end of next week and although I haven't lost enough to fit into my lovely old posh frocks I have bought a new pair of shoes :-)

hussherbye · 15/07/2026 19:46

I’ve also felt weirdly secretive- told husband and two sons, have almost told close work colleagues but just can’t do it!!!
