July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

To answer your question I believe we would have no chance getting it through the GP!

I was a bit scared of the injections initially, but to find out the nhs only give it to people with a lot of health problems is a bit reassuring really. If you see what I mean.

AgedPudding · 12/07/2026 19:42

I paid £143 through MedExpress; think that was a first time discount

£144 through Zava. With first time discount.

MammaGnomes · 12/07/2026 19:48

@Clairedebear101286 I pay privately too. I looked at monj.uk to compare prices and then researched which of the lowest seemed to be the best. I’ll switch up providers each month to try and keep costs down and im planning on hopefully staying on 2.5.

I went with Bolt. I have a £40 referral fee which takes MJ to £109 and wegovy to £80. Feel free to pm me if it will help for the next one

Flobberworm99 · 12/07/2026 19:57

On day 2 and I am really struggling to eat anything. Feel like the appetite suppression has happened so quickly. I didn't even want to join in with the snacks during the match last night.
I am forcing myself to eat now so I don't become weak and fatigued. I am not sure how I am supposed to eat enough protein if feeling like this. I had some greek yogurt with fruit/nuts/seeds for a late breakfast. Did not fancy lunch and have struggled to eat a chicken skewer. Was hoping to have to have 2! Does anyone have any tips?!

I have really struggled to eat enough, had my first injection last Sunday and just done my 2nd. I’m going to try adding whey protein powder to my Greek yogurt to try and up my protein intake 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks- good idea!
Looks like I may have to drink my protein as well, just remembered I have a bag of protein shake powder lying in a cupboard. Hope it is still in date!

AvidLimeZebra · 12/07/2026 21:26

Can I join the thread please?! I am about to do my third injection tomorrow and have been stalking this thread! I waited nearly a year before finally starting and am so glad I have!
SW 12 stone 10
CW 12 stone 1

AvidLimeZebra · 12/07/2026 21:29

I was fine the first week but just finishing my second week and have found it so hard to go to the toilet (TMI!) Any ideas? I’m drinking about 3 litres water a day 🤷‍♀️
I also have a bolt code if anyone would like it-I have found them really good-delivered really quickly and almost instant replies on WhatsApp to any questions I had

minnymoobear · 13/07/2026 00:31

Hi just did my second jab and think I’ve messed up.
decided to do in my thigh this time to rotate areas, and must not have got the needle in properly and had the liquid on my leg 😩
not sure if I had a golden dose pen but managed to force an extra click as could still see liquid and did another injection in my stomach… have I messed up this week or overdosed? Anyone know?

Only had a loss of 2lb but knew I’d be a slow loser- eating well, exercising more and ge really feeling good about it so am fully committed

I did this on my second week. Not sure if I got a full dose or not. I just rode it out until the next one and still had a loss so I reckon I must have got some of it. Don't worry too much and just keep plugging away.

After a weekend when I didn't really do great on the eating (Dominos on Friday and Burger King on Saturday), I seem to have recovered this morning. I'm on my third week, 4th jab tomorrow and it looks like it will be a 3lb loss this week which I'm very happy with!

LovelyLapin · 13/07/2026 08:44

I also had liquid on my leg but I wonder if it was condensation from the pen?

Have you got a needle bruise?

LovelyLapin · 13/07/2026 08:52

Had a good weekend - no meals out so it was easy. I am eating a very same-y diet. Skipping breakfast, meat and salad with mayo for lunch and dinner most days. I mixed it up with scrambled eggs yesterday! Zero snacks apart from two kiwis with skin on for fibre.

I had been taking the collagen powder at bedtime but I’ve been waking up early for a wee and wondered if that was why. So I tried it in coffee in the morning yesterday and it was much better than the way I’d been having it in squash.

I’ve been having one fibre tablet per day, mostly because they’re quite nice! Lemon flavoured.

AelinAG · 13/07/2026 09:15

Day eight for 8, no loss so far but I wasn’t really expecting any - I was away with work taking students on a residential last week, food was absolutely atrocious and the building we were in had no air con so I was swigging cold drinks and ice cream to not pass out! Then had a boozy weekend away to see my favourite band. Have really felt the appetite suppression but have clearly made the calories up in magnums and Aperols.

Thanks, it felt quite wet, needed a tissue to clean it up so think I must have missed the spot completely some how?! no bruise on my leg and I did have one last week on my stomach
let’s see how the week goes!

Frolie · 13/07/2026 09:37

First week completed. Lost 1.8kg / 3.9lbs
Very happy with that.
Really hope side effects lessen this week, as I can’t cope with another week of fatigue and coughing!!

SW: 69.3kg
CW: 67.5kg
TW: 59kg
H: 5ft 3
Age: 49 and post menopausal (early menopause age 39) with underactive thyroid

Puddleduck2013 · 13/07/2026 11:47

I’ve done my 2nd jab and just received a repeat prescription email.

Started with Asda for initial supportbut thinking of moving to Bolt going forward. Anyone else considering moving?

BritbirdUK · 13/07/2026 13:34

Morning all. Actually, afternoon now - I thought it was much earlier!

Looks like there are some great losses again from people. Well done to all. And welcome to the newbies

@BerfyTigot I struggled with knowing what a normal portion is and also cook from scratch I use Google a lot and go by their lowest estimate for "normal, take a bit off because I have less appetite and then eat slowly so I know when I am feeling full. Like @RedUn I also track everything with MFP. I have been losing a good amount and haven't really felt hungry at all. There have been a lot of times where I have wanted to eat but actually it is more habit than need.

@MammaGnomes I definitely agree that it is hard to not compare. Although I am losing a lot I am constantly comparing myself in terms of SW and GW. I see that no one (so far) has had as much as I need to lose and so although I have had good loses I keep thinking that I am still failing. I think we are all going to compare to a certain degree but any loss is better than nothing.

@Miababe I get the lump in throat as well. Not so much indigestion though.

I have been meal planning for the week - I find that if I have stuff I really like just in smaller quantities I feel happier and not so much like I am dieting. So far I have got ramen, carbonana, shish with rice and soup on the menu.

I agree, planning and tracking is the way forward. I used to think I ate really well but now I can see I was stacking up the calories even though it was ‘good’ food.

week 2 weigh for me

SW 16st0.7lb
CW 15st6.8lb
loss of 7.9lb
GW 12st

week 1 was -5lb, week 2 -2.8lb but I definitely drank more alcohol!

I had really bad fatigue the first week but second week I’ve been fine. I went to bed at 8.30 for the first few nights. Hope it passes for you.

LivelyCyanPombear · 13/07/2026 18:47

Do you mind if I join? I just got my first pen but waiting until Thursday night to do it, I want to wait and make sure if I have immediate symptoms it will be over the weekend.

I have been overweight since I was a teenager and lost loads many times then piled it back on. I was successful with low carb for a few years. Then my dad died last year and since then I have ballooned back up to 16st 😭 I need something to break the binge eating cycle and need help getting back to healthy way of life.

anonymouschameleon · 13/07/2026 19:32

Nervous new starter here! My first pen is arriving tomorrow, but like @LivelyCyanPombear I'm planning to do my first dose on Thursday so I have the weekend just in case I get any side effects.

I've struggled with my weight for years, but over the last five years I've gained around 6 stone and I'm now 17 stone... A combination of stress binge eating because of my parents' ill health, and menopause has really taken its toll.

I know I need to do something now. I'm hoping this will help me break the cycle and finally make some lasting changes. I'm feeling a mixture of nervousness and hope, and I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here.

MammaGnomes · 13/07/2026 19:37

Evening all.
had a cheeky weigh in yesterday morning to see what damage I had done over the weekend. Food was ok but I consumed a fair bit of alcohol. I’m happy to report I had maintained since my last weigh in on Thursday. Hoping this is a true reflection and I’m not going to have a nasty shock for this weeks weigh in.

Ive found eating the same things helpful for tracking cals etc. Especially with my appetite being pretty much non existent. I’m having a chicken or tuna salad on a protein wrap and have worked out the Cals to be around 350. Dinner is then around 700 which brings me to just under my TDEE with a bit of wiggle room for olive oil and a bit more mayo.

today I’ve been super busy with work and didn’t have time to stop so I had a huel shake which is 400cals.

im probably not eating enough protein though so really need to readdress that but for now my cals are where they should be.

I really need to start introducing collagen too. Does anyone have any recommendations for them in tablet form? I have a powder and just keep forgetting to take it. I think a tablet might be easier for me to remember.

@Puddleduck2013 I’m planning on moving about a bit driven by costs. I’ll send you my bolt referral code and hopefully it will help you out. It’s £40 off your first order which is a great saving. How did you find Asda prices? I don’t suppose you have a referral for them?

Nowimhereandimlost · 13/07/2026 19:41

Welcome to all the new joiners!

I'm on day 10 and exhausted. I know I'm not eating enough but it's all so unappetising. I also really want to get to the gym for some strength training but I'm a bit worried I'm too weak/dizzy for it. How are others finding exercise? I suppose I should just force some more food down but it's tough!

The food noise thing is interesting, the thoughts about what to eat have mostly gone but they've been replaced by thoughts about Mounjaro and how amazed I am that I'm not thinking about food... So really, it's still there. I wonder if that peters out as you get over the novelty of it.

ChocolateIsBad · 13/07/2026 19:44

Welcome newbies!

I think quite a few of us are Thursday jabbers! I’m coming up to my 3rd dose this Thursday so need to think about ordering next month’s supply. I plan to stay on 2.5mg as very suppressed and having to force myself to eat and not finding it very enjoyable. It’s such a weird feeling to not be thinking about food.

I’m currently with medexpress so need to find a supplier that will prescribe to me as BMI is 27.2.. Think medexpress cost around £140 with a discount so would prefer not to pay anything more than this and preferably less.

MammaGnomes · 13/07/2026 19:46

Yes @Nowimhereandimlost I am exactly the same re the food noise ha ha! Although I’ll take that over the “go on one biscuit won’t do you any harm”

it’s the lack of interest in alcohol I’ve been most surprised at (despite my consumption over the weekend which was more peer pressure than actually wanting it) I can literally take it or leave it whereas before I always looked forward to a nice glass of wine on Friday or a fruit cider in the sun.
