I'm not sure if 6 months from 1st May (when I did my first jab) is the 1st November or if 26 weeks is more accurately half a year.
[Tell me you're a pedant without using the word pedant]
But I'm choosing 26 weeks.

So today
CW 11 st 4 lbs BMI 30.7
SW 14 st 8lbs
Loss so far 46lbs
Target 10 st. so 18lb to go

I've lost 23% of my starting weight, at an average rate of 1.9 lbs a week.

I'm a happy old lady today - just need to KOKO. And with the support of this thread I'm sure I'll do it. Thank you - all of you.

notgonnafail · 29/10/2025 11:37

Some fantastic results everyone! So happy for you all.

All the kitten talk (and pics) made me kitten broody, and given my 2 babies went missing over the summer, I decided that to cheer myself up given all the stress at the moment, that it was probably time to consider getting my remaining, very sociable cat some siblings. So, nipped over to the local rescue yesterday and fell in love with this pair of rascals!

Meet Teddy (brown tabby) and Lola (the greedy one) They'll be ready to come home around the beginning of December 😍

@FlorenceNightshade I can't wait! They are super chatty and full of mischief!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 29/10/2025 14:59

NSV The jeans I ordered in a size down as a target to help keep me motivated actually fit. They are a bit skinnier on the calf than I’d like. They felt very snug putting them on but then did up surprisingly easily. I wasn’t expecting them to actually do up let alone be able to breath easily so very pleasantly surprised. They do feel snug so might fit better in a couple of weeks time but then again I’ve been wearing wide leg jeans lately and these are a slim fit so we’re always going to feel snugger. They probably look more like a skinny fit on me at the moment but no muffin top.

I also had very vivid dreams last night about fostering kittens so I guess we know where that has come from.

Question for the ages: how do I self soothe without food, alcohol or shopping?

Sorry bit late to this and love all the suggestions, especially the bath idea. I’ve taken up knitting 🙈 while watching boxers - it keeps my hands occupied so can’t eat or drink. It’s strangely relaxing!

Gingercar · 29/10/2025 22:19

I’ve been a bit of a bugger with the Halloween sweets I’ve got to add to cakes/drinks at the cafe. I’ve picked at a few this week. I always get a bit down around November, and that hasn’t helped.

BerfyTigot · 29/10/2025 22:57

@FlorenceNightshade huge congratulations! 🎊 brilliant!

Also to the NSV's 👏

I have to admit that I still resort to food when I'm stressed, even when I'm not enjoying it, which is ridiculous.

I find knitting stops me picking, as does online shopping 🤣

SutekhsEars · 30/10/2025 06:04

It must be so hard working with cakes all the time @Gingercar !
I had a long drive yesterday, it should have been around 5 hours but took 7.5. My poor mounjaro-bum was so achy by the end of it. I was bored and just ate constantly. Not looking forward to the drive home at the weekend either.

Oops that should read boxsets not Boxers 🤣

When I used to do the commute from Manchester to Heathrow I used to buy a bag of those carrot batons to nibble on the journey if I was trying to keep myself from eating rubbish.

tostaky · 30/10/2025 09:27

Little NSV: went to pilate this morning and couldnt stop looking at my thighs… im pretty sure they are smaller than usual!!

SutekhsEars · 30/10/2025 09:32

@Gingercar I ate the carrots, and the celery, and the sandwiches ... I was thirsty but trying not to drink too much because I didn't want to keep stopping.

ElsieJay · 30/10/2025 09:49

Whoah, a few days away from this thread and so much to catch up on !
Guess you’re home now, @Kbr22 - well done on losing weight whilst you were away , it’s tough on an extended holiday.

Lots of useful self-soothe tips, thanks everyone .

Congratulations on getting to goal, @FlorenceNightshade ! Fingers crossed for you as you transition to the maintenance phase .

Gorgeous kitten pics, @notgonnafail @DidILeaveTheGasOn - they all look absolutely adorable . Hopefully two fur babies at the same time will entertain each other, and leave your curtains and furniture intact !

Waves to @BerfyTigot and @Foreveronaplane from a fellow knitter, it’s very useful having something to occupy your hands isn’t it . Though I mostly knit squares for charity blankets these days. Was intrigued by you watching boxers ….. 🤣🤣 until the correction appeared .

Not much news here, just KOKO before weigh day tomorrow. Seem to be okay on 3.75 dose so will probably try for the full 5 on the next pen.
Booked a trip to Kensington Palace for the Dress Codes exhibition, and afternoon tea 🫖 🍰 in the Orangery , which I’m looking forward to - DH not so much !

tostaky · 30/10/2025 12:26

I feel i cant say this to anyone else but i am feeling very sick after eating a large portion of risotto for lunch! Why is it not ok to leave half a portion? I need to re-wire my thinking! It wasnt even good!
off to make myself a cup of peppermint tea… 🤢

lissie123 · 30/10/2025 12:40

Looking for advice on dosage please- I’m 4 pounds away from reaching my target weight but I’ve stalled for weeks now. Haven’t really lost weight for about four weeks and I’ve been on 7.5mg for the last eight weeks. Reluctantly I think I need to go up to 10mg but I’ve just bought a new 7.5mg pen. Any thoughts? I don’t think I’m getting the suppression and I just wonder what other peoples experiences are at the higher doses?

SutekhsEars · 30/10/2025 14:39

@tostaky I think I need to shift my scarcity mindset a bit - instead of (subconsciously) worrying that there won't be enough food so I need to eat it ALL NOW, I need to reframe it as I only have a limited number of calories for the day so I'm not going to waste them on mediocre food. It's a big mental shift for me, as I've been greedy for years.

ElsieJay · 30/10/2025 15:40

@tostaky I suspect I’m a few years older than you , but as a child I was practically forced strongly encouraged to clear my plate at every meal - those old habits die hard !

ElsieJay · 30/10/2025 15:46

I’ve purposely avoided buying new clothes until nearer goal , but today succumbed to a chocolate brown faux suede jacket from New Look and a cream sweatshirt from Asda.
Not breaking the bank, both size 14 and satisfyingly roomy.
Hmmmm, chocolate and cream - now there’s a thought …… 🤔🤔

DBatteryBand · 30/10/2025 17:44

Thanks for all the self-soothing tips. I knit, too, but at the moment I seem to have Dieting Crafter's Rage and DD has requested I don't do it when we are watching TV together as apparently the way I am crashing the needles together sounds like the sword fight in Hamlet.

Loving the NSVs and kittens. NSV here - I went for coffee with my mother (my harshest critic). When I came back to our table after standing in the queue to order, she grabbed my arm and said, 'DBattery - you look wonderful.' I nearly fainted with shock. It must be about 25 years since she last said something like that to me. I then took great pleasure in telling her I had just taken a top back to Seasalt because it was far too big.

@tostaky - I get it. Sometimes the Mounjaro portcullis ('You shall not pass!') comes down, but I keep pushing bits of dinner through the bars. I then spend the small hours sitting up in bed, green-faced, waiting for catastrophe to strike.

tostaky · 30/10/2025 18:24

Thanks for all your kind words! @ElsieJay yes about having to clear my plate and not waste food! It is so hard to change…. And enjoy your new clothes!
@DBatteryBand thats a wonderful comment! 😊

i have had a £60 vouchers for a fashionable brand of clothing for my bday. Ive just placed an order all in size 12 (and all on sales to make my voucher go further!) lets hope i dont have to return anything!!
